Woodward will need replacing but the decision maker on that must not be the Glazers. After what has been an utter farce, an amateur event that couldn't hold together for more than a couple of days the ownership must change. Neville has used the word leeches and now must keep that going. It shows that they have been amateur not just in football terms but now when it comes to business.

Lastly, where was Ole on this? When it mattered he was silent, unlike Klopp and Pep, real leaders. Now he can safely pop his head up and say of course he was not in favour.

What an utter embarrassing mess that must herald the change of ownership and whole amateur direction of the club.

Klopp and Pep only spoke out because they were forced to do press conferences and had no choice. Can't really blame Ole for the fact that his chance hadn't come up yet. I expect he would have shown a similar perspective at his press conference had the whole thing bit died on its ass before he had the chance.

Red Man, I know you don't like Ole but come on, just shoehorning him into this for the sake of it.

What would you have expected him to do? He hasn't had media as we don't have a game. Pep, Tuchel, Klopp etc were asked as they had media obligations. Do you really believe that if Pep didn't have a game this week he'd have been sending out a statement to say he disagrees?

I'd also be pretty sure Ole would be against it in general as one of the criticisms of him across the last couple of years is how he talks about the past all the time, surely if he does this, tradition matters to him and this was threatening that?

Ole had to have been against it everybody was. I agree that the other managers spoke only when asked.
I think ole would have said the same as them.
Well done to the players that did speak out. Shaw rash Bruno in particular. Rumours that mata and ddg were also very out spoken with Woodward.
Selling united will not be easy but i don't see anyway back from this for our owners or Liverpools. I hope we get offers before they do.

{Ed077's Note - weren't all captains from the PL teams unanimously against this? So it would be safe to assume it was a collective decision from the players with the captains just representing their stance against ESL.

I saw no joint statement from pl captains. Have you seen it?

{Ed077's Note - I don't think the captains put out a joint statement. But all of them were said to be unhappy. Maguire was said to have voiced his displeasure to Ed Woodward, for 8nstance. I must say I would have liked all captains and players to have issued a joint statement. But at least a lot of the "top" players were speaking out against it.

Ole was asked about the ESL after the Burnley game when the rumours first surfaced and he said, "I've seen this morning the news about the speculation, so I can't really say too much. My focus has been on this game.

"I haven't looked into it, I've just been focusing on this game. I need to sit down and see what it is. I've not seen any, I don't know all the ins and outs, I need to find out and then the clubs can issue a comment. "
