City leading 2-1 at villa park but stones got a red card.
The league title challenge is ON.

City effectively won the league months ago. They have been the best team by a distance. Hate to admit it but am not an ostrich.

I always thought it was inevitable that Aguero would miss games, and that city would fall down.

Turns out they became more of a threat without a recognized 9. All the CBs in the league didn't know how to cope with the movement changing of positions.

All credit to city this year. Guardiola found a way to play with more solidity, extra players in the defensive midfield zone and his CB purchases really excelled - especially when his main player was out injured.

City have been streets ahead of everyone. And yet utd are not so far behind. This is why I find the tone of concern so confusing on this site.

BUT! Does any of this even matter anymore? I have never been so ashamed to be a utd supporter. Our club has caused serious damage to itself and honestly, every single club in the rest of the league should by right let us all have it for the next decade or so. If the premier league decided to dock points from the "big" six would anyone here actually fight it? It is what we deserve.

DB, I agree on an extent but the players and fans don't deserve to be punished. It was either Neville or Carragher who said that this isn't even the clubs, it was down to a couple of individuals at the top.

I wish we could punish them somehow. Docking united or anyone else points isn't going to upset Joel Glazer or John Henry for example.

Dodgy

We the fans, the team, the manager do bot deserve any punishment, so yes I would fight it. It’s the owners that deserve punishment. If punishment is needed look at ownership punishments.

City have a method, a successful method from a coach who knows exactly what he is doing. I have seen no such method or coordination from us.

DodgyBanter,

The club deserves a lot of stick for sure but not the playing or coaching staff. Docking points is not the answer I feel. I would rather have the PL fine these big clubs and use that money to improve the standards of the domestic leagues.

The punishment for the 6 clubs is going to be very difficult. If you take points off the club, it is punishing millions of people for the actions of a few greedy ones at the top. Granted docking points may well mean lack of European football next season for them and therefore less money.

However, would the Premier League or other leagues if they followed suit want that? UEFA would see interest in their competitions fall off a cliff if those teams weren't involved and replaced by others. No disrespect to those sides but West Ham vs Real Betis won't attract the same viewers as United or Liverpool games.

It could also antagonise players, coaches etc to dock them points for something they've had nothing to do with.

Punishment is fully deserved but other than a huge fine that impacts the finances I'm not sure what the solution is? Maybe UEFA withhold prize money for those involved as well?

{Ed077's Note - Transfer bans maybe?}

Uefa welcomed the clubs back into the fold yesterday.
Im not sure if the epl have any right to impose a penalty as they didn't pull out or had no intention of pulling out of the epl so there serious be a whole lot of legal wrangling that could take a long time to decide.
It will all depend on the wording of any rule they are supposed to have broken.
Moral guilt does not always mean legal guilt as fifa and uefa know only too well.
