The glazers won't be selling.

Although I don't think them putting debt onto the club is right, they have spent on players each year.

The stadium and training ground and surrounding areas need work.

The fans forum should be working for them to modernise the club and not trying to force them out.

Be very careful they don't strip the club to bare bones and sell everything off and leave us in a right mess because they have the power to do so and these tactics could really back fire.

Thats a good post BIG V. They accuse them of taking dividends, previous shareholders didn't get dividends?

I don't know why it's half the post. I mean the problem with Glazers os the stadium. I have no problem for them to leave but only if better owners arrive.

Exactly.

I wouldn't live with that fear Big V. What could they do? Sell the stadium and make us play at the cliff?

Sell all our players (something we're woeful at by the way) and then see us drop down the league?

These are guys that if they could, they wouldn't spend a penny. There's a fine balance between minimum investment and no investment.

If they decided to strip the club bare, how far would they get? That's not what will happen.

Once their bottom line takes a hit they will sell. Try and make an exit strategy and sell the club for circa £4 billion. Or try and sell everything peice meal and be left with a fraction if that amount?

They will try and wait out the storm. It could be possible of course. But IF sponsors start worrying, the value of the club will start to fall. That's when they will weigh up their options and see what the best solution will be.

Don't be afraid of what might be around the corner. If you're in a poor relationship you should try and get out and improve it. It may not work, but scaremongering isn't the way.

If they are hit in their pocket they will leave. There's a few family members getting a slice of this cheese. As the value drops, like the rats they are, they'll leave with the biggest slice they can get.

I mean they could sell the stadium to be knocked down and the land developed, they could then agree to a long term deal to play at the Etihad. Pocket all the cash from the stadium sale, while the fees paid to City to play at their stadium would come out of the clubs operating profit meaning less funds for transfers.

That would be a bit of a kick in the teeth.

04 May 2021 21:15:33
it's in their interest to maintain the asset value that's right mumbles.
If the financial performance suffers then they will review but as long as the cash is rolling in they will sit tight.
But other owners could well deliver a worse set of problems.
I think they will ride this storm and the only way the storm won't pass is if income suffers.
But they will sell the naming rights to the stadium before they go would be my guess.

8.) 04 May 2021
04 May 2021 21:38:42
Shappy, you think they're getting planning permission from the council to rip down Old Trafford and build apartments?

Ken, I do think they have a couple of aces up their sleeve in terms of income they could go to. Stadium naming rights is a good shout. And if new owners came in they would want a return on a until billion pound investment. I know the dangers of rolling the dice.

But right now the dice is a 2. We have owners that couldn't care less if we win another thing. I don't expect any owners to not get a return on their investment, but I would like owners who would speculate to accumulate. They're not mutually exclusive. We could have owners that take their slice but also have ambition.

£1.5 billion on a £600 million loan that currently sits at £515 million. That's absolutely criminal. They could have long paid off that loan and invested in their "investment". They're poor business people.

Gds2 every single penny that the club generates belongs to them. If they didn't spend it on players and financing they would take it anyway its all their money. Its theirs because they own the club whether we like it or not. Any money generated belongs to them and they can spend it take it reinvest it or take it out just like any company owners anywhere.
We may not like it but legally it is their money. So saying they haven't spent a penny is wrong i understand the sentiment and I understand the frustration with it I understand the leveraging and the finances but its all their money. They own the business and its revenues. They have been supremo supremely clever if you were to put a dream deal and business model together from their point of view its the deal if the century they pulled off.
People need to look at it without emotion and realise that the glazers have done what's best for them and they will continue to do so.
Financial pain is the only way to affect change with them and bring them to the table. No about of chanting will do that. They won't sell imo so we will need to work with the devil imo in the long run.

Do you want to pretend they don't own the club?
I'm not playing devil's advocate.
Who owns the club gds2?

04 May 2021 23:57:07
but mumbles its not criminal its not very palletable but not criminal.
Its awful and all of us on here would do it differently for the betterment of the club that's for sure but if you don't look at it from both perspectives there is no chance of any sort of alignment.
They want to make money and we want to win prizes and have a club and team to be proud of. They don't have to be mutually exclusive. Changes need to be made so dialogue is needed and if they are not forthcoming then the only way to bring them to that table is to hurt them in the pocket.
Fan power has been seen to great effect over the past few weeks. It can be done it needs coordination.

16.) 05 May 2021
05 May 2021 00:11:38
That’s exactly the point Herrera.

£4bn purchase will require some serious return on capital - the Glazers have run the club poorly - but they are more guilty of employing the wrong people to run the club rather than destroying t’s heritage etc. The club has neglected the football side for too long and my hope is they listen in terms of stadium, facilities, football infrastructure.

If the club is sold, it will become even more commercial in my opinion.

17.) 05 May 2021
05 May 2021 00:59:19
Ken, me and you are on the same side of the coin on this one. The owners have all the power. They can't be "forced" out but if the fans make it really difficult, they may "want" out.

If new owners did come in, they would obviously want to raise the value of the club. We were attractive to sponsors because we hit the top spot when the Premier League was introduced. It was a perfect storm of new fans, old fans a winning team and club with history. The success on the pitch helped us become the global behemoth we are today. It was through the hard work on the pitch that the boardroom doors to sponsorship swung open.

In theory we were a successful football team who used a corporate approach to achieve greatness on the pitch. Somewhere along the way we turned into a corporation that played football on the weekend.

If new owners come on board after spending 4 billion quid, the best way to get a return on that investment is to bring us back to top of the footballing world. They could milk us even dryer of course. But success on the pitch is and has always been the catalyst to make the money off it.

We could be successful on the pitch, off it, invest in players, improve the stadia and facilities and still let the owners take a slice all while improving the value of the club. The Glazers are slumlord owners.

We could be run successfully on and off the pitch. It is achievable.

DLIB, I post a lot crap, bound to be right eventually mate.

are you still scared this morning gds2 or have you realised I have no lack of understanding. A lack of empathy perhaps but no lack of understanding.
Its you that had no perspective and are only looking at one side of the coin.
Glazers own the club all the clubs money is theirs to do with as they please.
Some folk want to take a stand some supporters don't. No lack of understanding there. Some fans are prepared to do what ever it takes to try and force them to the table others are not.
Some fans will continue to moan and do nothing.
So no need to be scared open your eyes and it won't be dark anymore. If you continue to come from a place which denies that they own the club or deny that the money is their money you will be able to shout your Obscenities at the owners but no joy will come of that. Take your head out of the same and take the emotion out of it and start dealing with facts then you can start finding solutions. To say they have not spent a penny is just poppycock.
I'll ask you again. Who owns the business?
Where is my lack of understanding?

Whilst I DO NOT agree with the structure of the club and the direction individuals have taken, it really is a remarkable thing that a family can own a 4bn assett without putting a hand in their pockets- sad but non theless remarkable.
If you let that sink in and digest guys, I'm sure you'll realise that these are not flogging fake ugg boots outta a van they are cold hearted businessmen. They have used the system and amassed a huge personal fortune from manutd to add to their portfolio and it won't be easy to shift them .

The information and reasons for protest are out there, nothing I say now is going to change your opinion so the argument is pointless. As I said I am disappointed, perhaps you do understand but choose to ignore, which is fine.

I assure you I am looking at both sides of the coin, I realise that there is very little that will happen, the Glazers won't sell the club, but what I said was I understand the protests and I understand what the fans want and agree with it.

I hate the way the Glazers bought the club, I still say and will always say they have not put a penny of their own money in which is true and disgusting but obviously not illegal so not much can be done. I understand they own the club and I hope the protests make them see that the fans are important and they can have dialogue with the fans and explain some of their decisions. Doing nothing will mean nothing happens, getting rid of my season ticket will mean I am miserable and would mean nothing happens, fans protesting can make something happen, so as I said, I agree with what the fans stand for and can see exactly why they are doing it. I am allowed to agree without giving up my hobby.

GDS2
"I get the playing Devil’s advocate but you must know the things you’re saying are going to rile people up, especially the match going season ticket holder hypocrites. " how exactly are match going season ticket holders, hypocites?
Are they not supporters?
Have they not the right to opinion?
Are you a liverpool fan?
Are you a self opinionated idiot who thinks they can class all supporters who are season ticket match goers as hypocrites.
Thought you had more to you than that after reading your posts but to be fair mate that comment has hit a raw nerve.

Funky pigeon - You’ve got the wrong end of the stick pal!

It was Ken who suggested that season ticket holders are hypocrites for continuing to attend games whilst protesting against the Glazers. Myself and GDS2 led an impassioned defence of all match going supporters in relation to Ken’s comments yesterday.

I remain very disappointed by Ken’s comments and am astonished that other Utd fans would attack loyal, devoted, match going fans in such a way. It’s scandalous to suggest someone should give up their passion so they can voice an opinion on the Glazers without being labelled as a hypocrite!

I present my hard earned cash to the Club every year in the hope that it will be reinvested back into the Club as I’m sure thousands of other match going supporters do. It’s not my fault the Glazers bought the Club, crippled it with debt and decided to run it more as a business than a football Club. The focus should remain on the Glazers and the dangers they present to the growth and competitiveness of our great Club and not loyal fans who are guilty only of supporting the Club.

It’s easy for fans who live hundreds of miles from the stadium to disingenuously suggest they are doing their bit by not attending games when they probably never went in the first place or certainly not on a consistent basis anyway.

We must be Utd against the Glazers and everything they represent and whilst fan protest may not remove them from the Club it certainly helps to highlight the issues and may even deter sponsorship which will hit them harder than a few season ticket holders going to watch Salford for a year as Ken suggested.

I’d be more than happy to sacrifice my season ticket if I believed it would make a discernible difference but this would take an organised and coordinated effort from thousands of fans coming together with no guarantee that others would simply not take our place. For this to be successful there would probably have to be some kind of protest or picket line at every game to put pressure on fans entering the stadium and taking our place. This would pit Utd fan against Utd fan and a divided fan base will never succeed.

Lobbying the government to make legislative changes in how football Clubs operate, continuing to protest and somehow making the Club less attractive to new sponsorship opportunities will hit the Club much harder than me and GDS2 spending a season watching Salford!
