think the fixture computer was broke when it gave our fixtures.

everton leicester liverpool spurs city chelsea arsenal all after one another in october and novemeber.

thats the make or break time for ole and the lads.

a fairly favorable start but oct/ nov and then march is very tough.

We will probably come out of the period with a really positive points tally. It's the games at home against the likes of Burnley, Palace etc along with all the silly draws against various lower league sides which are the problem.

Bodes well for our champions league campaign.

Lets be realistic as we won't win the league with this squad. Even if we bring in sancho and a defender Citys squad is far stronger and they will sign players. Liverpool will also be stronger as will Chelsea.

So frankly doesn't matter when we play the top teams. In the end we are not good enough at the moment.

We know we have to play every team twice, when we play them should be irrelevant.

The other way to look at it is that if we can put a run of form together over that period, it could put us in the running for a title fight.

And ole will be gone by Christmas with that run of fixtures.

{Ed077's Note - you wish..

Ultimately you have to play everyone twice, home and away.

While the order can impact a season there are so many variables it isn't worth worrying about.

We might have a tough run of games, but no team really wants to play us either.

We also have no idea how form or injuries will play a part yet.

Maybe we will play City and Liverpool when they have a few injuries/ suspensions or are out of form.

Maybe it will be us with injuries, suspensions and poor form going into those games.

Under the two full season's we have had under Ole we have in the first one had a great record against the other top sides, then in his second full season we have struggled and mostly drawn the games against the other top sides.

There are far bigger things that impact a season than the fixture list.

of course the fixtures matter, regardless if you play teams twice or not.

how many times has having an easier run towards the end helped ( plenty of times)

Exactly Shappy, those pesky red banners seemed to have an extraordinary impact on our home form last season.

Agree, Bolger. You can also build up a head of steam with a run of decent fixtures with winning boosting confidence, or a malaise can set in during and after a tough run. Don't think it's as simple as just saying we play everyone twice.

What a corker. Like that run of games doesn’t matter. Like who manages us doesn’t matter either eh shaps?

First game of the season, at home to Leeds. Brilliant game to welcome the fans back. Hopefully.

I love how people read something and take whatever they like from it without reading the whole thing.

My second sentence was: "While the order can impact a season there are so many variables it isn't worth worrying about. "

Clearly saying that a run of fixtures CAN impact a teams season.

I then go on to explain some of the other variables that could change how that run COULD be affected.

Ultimately we are trying to judge something in the future with only around 10% of the variables to try and work out the outcome.

Bruno and Rashford could be out injured for two months each just before that run of games. Then it would be an impossibly hard run.

Or VvD and KDB could be out injured for Liverpool and City respectively.

We could be in great form before those games or terrible form.

Our rivals could be in good form or terrible form.

We don't know who the next Everton and Spurs managers will actually be. They could have them in great form, or they could be flopping and holding on to their job by the skin of their teeth.

There is so much that may or may not happen between now and then. Maybe we get 3 or 4 top players in who transform our side, or maybe we sign 1 or 2 players and they struggle.

Who knows which players will complete the Euro's unscathed and who could pick up a long term serious injury. Could be one of our players, could be a rivals.

Is it an ideal fixture list? No. But without knowing what is happening at the time it's hard to judge how it may impact our season.

We are just as likely to win all those games as we are lose them. A winning run could springboard us to have a great season, a poor run could lead to the manager losing his job by Christmas. Or we may just win some, lose some, draw some and muddle our way through.

You've got to play everyone twice.
If we are up and running, bringing Rashford back after surgery Oct/ Nov could be fun plus Sancho settled, Martial replacement bedded in, Amad a bit older plus 2 more quality additions and SAUL we could be well up for the challenge.

15.) 16 Jun 2021
16 Jun 2021 19:51:17
if you have a tough looking run somewhere then we have an easy looking run at another period. Its much of a muchness. Why are we focusing on the rough patch of fixtures and not the easy looking run?
I ghostly believe there are no easy games and with ole in charge we are just as likely to win tough games and lose easy ones.

I think having tough games in the same period that you play in Europe matters a lot. Especially when we don’t have great squad depth and can’t afford to rotate. It matters very very much.

People are forgetting that if we go into that string of games in good form, it could work heavily in our favour, with us winning most of those games and building confidence even higher.

Of course the order of fixtures can have an impact, it’s just that we won’t know until closer to then (or possibly even long after then) what the impact will be.
