Ole seems to have confirmed that the club are interested in bringing Ronaldo home. "He knows we are here. " and "Let's see what happens. " Interesting times.

It's hard to tell if these comments are designed to show the fans that we tried if he goes to City or a sign of genuine interest. Let's hope it's the latter!

The problem when you have invested so much time and emotion in a club is that when you get older you try to be quite level headed and logical about things but there are still these moments when you hear Ole say stuff like that and see his little smirk, you can't control the excitement! I know it's unlikely and he is most likely off to City, I deep down don't know if it is the right thing for the club but now I'm getting all excited again. It's the hope with this club that keeps knocking you for six ha ha.

Don’t destroy me but I’ve been thinking on it and bring Ronaldo back might not be a bad idea. Club legend so creates positivity, still a top goal scorer/ poacher which is what we need. Fee is nominal and his wages if figures are accurate then won’t be too destabilising. Cavani will miss large chunks due to C.V. rules and that just leaves us Greenwood. Bring Ronnie in For two years help groom Greenwood then it’s his time to shine.

Am I overthinking it?

If CR7 signs, I genuinely think Cavani will leave in the next day or two.

- late back from summer
- unhappy with CV rules
- wants to be closer to his ‘home’
- frees up no.7 for Ronaldo.

Downsie, it's interesting you say that, I was wondering myself and perhaps one of the Ed's can clear such a situation up but could Cavani's contract, if mutually agreed be, cancelled for the want of a better word? The points you have made, apart from the number 7 shirt, are all points that have been documented about Cavani previously.

It does make sense to be honest just whether it can be done or not?

Biggest issue with Cavani is Uruguay s fixtures from September to April. He ll spend a considerable amount of time in South America and going to and back from there.

I hope Cavani stays on. Not sure why we’d even entertain the idea of paying him £15m to leave when keeping him for the season would only cost us £10m. If it’s a case of freeing up space, Martial, James, Lingard, Jones, Bailey, Matic and Mata should all be ahead of him in the cue for the exit.

Thanks Ed002, I guess if you weigh up the amount of games he will potentially miss and I suppose the relatively small fee for Ronaldo and the games he would play in comparison, an additional £15Million isn't that horrendous in the grand picture of the whole scenario?
