I've been looking through clips of Ten Hag and Pochettino this evening ( sad life, I know) and this one really does stand out for me.

You can really see Ralf and TH making a difference to the footballing side of things if they get the chance to work together. The brutally honest approach to coaching and tactics is a far far cry from the bull we were served up under Ole.

im a bit jaded by it all, the last 4-5 years to be honest. I see RR speaking a lot of sense this morning. UTD should be buying young hungry players who want to improve -and not just big names he has said again . Exactly what he said in 2018 when asked where UTD were going wrong in recruitment.

So ETH and RR,2 footballing men with a vison - will they ever be listened to if ETH gets the job? will the fans or even the media accept UTD buying player x y z for 30 mill each and not Rice at 150 +
Thats the worry.

I hope we go along with the let's buy talent and build them approach.
We've always relied heavily on that, this let's get readymade stars has not worked.
I'm against Declan Rice as a signing and would rather prefer cheaper players if it means we invest in more areas of the squad.
This summer's rebuild is going to be the most difficult one with so many players leaving on free, others wanting to move and some not at the level here.

Absolutely agree with this approach but as you have aluded to ETH will need someone behind the scenes who sees it the same and the club will have to hold there nerve.
Big time buys are great if they are the bit that gets you over, we have multiple areas to improve or just replace so we need to use the youth and those on the continent who are breaking through. Success for us comes always with a young hungry team built over multiple years with a spattering of high end purchases. we need to do the former first then add to it.

I’m much more in favour of more modest purchases who fit the mentality and positions required. Rice is a brilliant player but he’s the icing on the cake. Utd need a lot of sponge for the cake for now.

I would take Rice whatever the price, I think he is a wonderful player, he just keeps getting better and better and developing which is a sign of a top professional and player. He makes the players around him better. I can't see him being anything other than a positive influence on the rest of the squad and the youngsters. He has for me been the outstanding player in rhe EPL this year.

I also don't think Chelsea would pay what he will cost.

For the last two years I have said that Utd rebuild should begin with him and Bellingham and we should be doing everything to secure them. Neither has done anything to dispel that belief, if anything they have merely made it stronger.

I know it would cost a lot but ypu need a smattering of top class players and these boys sre the ones for me.

Rice unfortunately fits the bill on both fronts. He’s the Carrick type signing who could serve the club for 7-10 years but is also the absolute stand out candidate for the position we’re so desperately lacing in.
I’d happily splash the money on rice and a striker this window. Let the new manager work with the squad over the next few windows and strengthen as he sees fit.

You can't have only young players policy, it just doesn't work.
It could be a combination, for example, splashing the cash on either Kane or Rice and bringing in several more young players. We need experienced players, but perhaps not too many.
