As the curtain comes downs on a dreadful season plagued by mutiny, dissent and accusations of players not trying and leaking stories to the press last nights performances was a pertinent reminder that there is no substitute for class and professionalism.

Ronaldo, Mata, Matic and Varane reminded us that football doesn't always have to be played at 100mph. Intelligence, experience and professionalism continue to be important attributes especially at a Club that seemingly prefers celebrity and drama. They are the only serial winners at the Club and whilst their star is fading they showed the others last night how to pass, retain the ball and play as a team rather than individuals.

Whilst I accept Utd were never likely to win the league with Mata and Matic playing every game class in permanent and they made everyone around them better. Bruno didn't try too many Hollywood passes preferring to player quicker, shorter passes and the rotation of the forward players was much better with Ronaldo less isolated and more involved.

Certainly under Ole and even Rangnick to a lesser degree players such as Greenwood and Rashford were over used. Too often they got the ball, cut inside and hit a hopeful shot, conceding possession and inviting the counter attack. Neither pressed the ball effectively well nor tracked back leaving the midfield and defence hopelessly exposed. Utd had become stale and predictable, overly reliant on the individual rather than the team.

I hope under EtH we'll see a more patient, possession based game with more numbers and rotation in midfield.

I think most of us accept that games are won and lost in midfield and for once last night we actually won the midfield battle. Many will say it was only Brentford but Wolves, Aston Villa, Watford, Leicester, Everton and Southampton have all taken points at Old Trafford this season.

Last night was a glimpse into our past but also our future. Things can only get better.

There were many periods of aimless passing yesterday, just flipping the ball back and forth like nothing mattered. Certainly not what I am hoping to see.

Did anyone see Ronny gasping for air when he won the pen? These guys have all had their day. We need to look to the future. No PPI t having a rebuild with players who willreture end of next season.

Nonsense DB. No point in having a rebuild and keeping players that retire next year. That is stupid talk.
Why would you get rid of experience like that?

Lolllll DB Ronnie is 37 yet he is more fitter then 95 percent of footballers on this planet.

Dodgy - I call aimless passing two centre half’s passing the ball between themselves, I don’t think we saw that yesterday. Matic played some lovely incisive passes through the lines and Mata was always on the move creating angles to receive and recycle the ball. When any team looks to dominate the ball and keep possession there will always be some backwards and sideways passing.

I think maybe you’ve missed my point of course the team won’t be built around Matic, Mata and Ronaldo but I was referring to the way we approached the game. We had more numbers in midfield and retained the ball much better. We saw rotation, movement, triangles, players playing closer together and supporting each other, wanting the ball and looking after it. For periods we looked less like a pub team and more like a professional outfit that knew what they were doing.

Under EtH I think we’ll target players that are more comfortable in possession and play with intelligence. I don’t think we’ll see players running up blind ally’s or shooting from ridiculous positions. I don’t think we’ll
see constant Hollywood type passes but we’ll play with more patience and control. My fear is some supporters will label it aimless and boring and if we have a run of bad results will soon put pressure on the manager.

I think there is enough evidence to suggest that if we can get players in support of Ronaldo and provide him with chances he’ll score a bucket load of goals even if he’s out of breath. Take him out of that dressing room and its littered with over paid, egotistical, trash that have won absolutely nothing.

I fear Utd has become a destination for some players whereby just playing for the Club on massive wages and huge social media following is actually considered success even without the trophies. Ed Woodward called it Disney Land!

DLIB, DodgyB, MxTominay showed his limitations last night. So often played backwards, sideways or even forward passes which went behind the target player, not in front to run o to. He can't read the game, gets caught in possession in dangerous areas and is lousy at passing or transition support. He was the culprit of the wasted pointless momentum losing actions for me.

For the past few years, United has preferred brawn over brain and that's the reason the likes of Rashford have started over Mata.

Ronny needs to accept that he has to play less time and be more effective. Unfortunately he want to play every minute of every game and thinks that in any game he can get the miracle goal in the 96 minute.

We need to bring in new talent to take over. Greenwood, quite rightly, will be gone. So now we need to attract a striker. No good striker will come to sit on the bench and keep quiet so as not to upset Ronney's ego.

Yes he is a winner. But he is in the twilight of his career and he will not accept that. Too disruptive to keep him now. Had greenwood been playing and ready in the wings (pun jntended) to take over I would have been up for another year of Ronaldo magic. But now we need to find the right player to take the club forward. I'm sorry but not Ronaldo.

And no, he is not fitter than every other player. Laughable. He is getting older and it is noticable how he is struggling to keep up with the pace of the game. 2 games a week of 98 mins, no chance.

And in response to passing, yes some nice triangles and possession based football. But also some moments of very strange tapping back and forward doing nothing. Watch Liverpool and City and there is a point to their passing. We almost looked like we were toying with Brentford, and not in a good way. Looked a bit foolish if you ask me.

Looking foolish in a 3 nil win? Yet you thought we liked good in defeats when ole was in charge. Seems like you are trying to find ways to justify a ludicrous stance.
