I'm not one to panic, but at the moment I just want to hit that button

All the teams that we want to be catching up with have just increased the distance between them and us. Also rather than speeding up we have slowed down.

A top 10 finish next season looks more than likely.

Calm down, signing players does not automatically equal an improvement in a team.

Some times the players signed don't work out.

Some times the players signed actually cause problems and make things worse.

Some times regardless of signings things go sideways for a team during the season.

We don't know if any of our rivals are actually better on the pitch, and we won't until they start playing games.

Whose to say that Tuchel and Conte will still be in a job come May? To be honest the only two managers I'd guarantee will still be in charge of their clubs come the end of the season are Klopp and Pep. Everyone else including EtH could viably get sacked before the end of the season.

We have a new manager and a new direction, that alone means we have improved more than anyone else already.

I wouldn't say that we have improved more than anyone shappy.
A team with a style of play that players have bought into and are surely further ahead than a team who's new manager doesn't know if his players can do what he wants or if they will just throw him under the bus at the first opportunity.
I'd also say we are the worse ran club in the league which also puts the so called improvement into question.
Regarding new signings I can't see many coming in if we can't move some on.
This team has no connection to the fans I think eth is up against it and wouldn't surprise me if he walked by January.

Shappy you are right that it doesn't instantly improve but we don't have a squad.

Pogba, lingard, mata, matic, grant, hendo, cavani, greenwood all gone

Look at the midfield, it is average, then we have 1 striker in ronaldo

Some of the players left simply are not good enough. It will be hard to sell the likes of telles, awb jones, bailly and tunz.

Maybe a few of the youth can come in like garnarcho and hanibal.

But if we want to compete and ultimatly the aim for the glazers will be getting into the UCL as for them money matters.

We needed to strenthern and agree deals early on.

I get you can't go make 7 or 8 signings but we need to start pushing now for players in this next week

Already taking a dump on ten hag.

Tom, Liverpool have signed Nunez and sold Mane. In time that might be an improvement, but we don't know. They've seen a key player leave and a big money signing come in. For them to improve by 10% they'll need to get 101 points this season. I doubt that will happen so have they improved much?

City have signed Haaland and Philips, they might get Cucurella. They have sold Jesus, while both Sterling and Bernardo Silva could also leave. They'll need 102 points to improve by 10%, again this is unlikely.

I expect City and Liverpool to achieve between 90-95 points this season, meaning they have stay around the same.

If Chelsea improve by 10% they'll have 81 points, Spurs 78. Possible, likely? Who knows.

United got 58 points last season, a 10% increase (if we round up) takes us to 64 points. I'd be stunned if we didn't manage that. 70 points should be achievable with this squad with good coaching, and a change in attitude without any additional signings.

That would be an increase of 20%. Meaning that if EtH is as good as we hope he is we will have improved by a greater amount than anyone else without a single signing.

If we make a few key signings to the first 11 then maybe we can get 75-80 points. That'd be a 25-30% improvement on last season.

People see shiny new names signing for other clubs and believe they will transform those teams into something amazing. Maybe they will, most won't though.

Surely the 1.4bn we have spent over the past 10 years proves that simply spending money does not improve a side. There are many factors.

I just think people need to keep their knickers untwisted and just wait for the start of the season.

To say that signings won’t automatically improve a team is nonsense. Especially one in our position where the players we have are simply NOT GOOD ENOUGH.

Bolger, timings of signings are an interesting point.

What is it do you think that EtH can coach into his players this week that he can't in two weeks time?

Do you think if FDJ comes in tomorrow he'll be a better player for us this season than if he joins in two weeks time?

Do you think the extra two weeks training with the squad will make a huge difference?

The signing takes as long as it takes. Would you rather wait a few extra weeks to secure our first choice signing, or give up on them to sign our 2nd or 3rd choice now?

Surely making sure the right signings are made is more important than just signing someone because we can get the deal done early.

I don't think the timings make a huge difference in the grand scheme of things.

However, I'm almost certain that if United made 6 signings early on in the window there would still be United fans disappointed that we didn't make a deadline day signing.

I think fans just like seeing shiny new players, like spoilt kids at Christmas, they discard the last present as soon as they see the next one, and no matter how many they get it's never enough.

Fireman, the players we have who aren't good enough and didn't improve the team cost over 1bn.

That is proof enough to say that signings won't automatically improve a side.

Did the 89m we spent on Pogba make us a much better side?

What about the 75m we spent on Lukaku?

Or the 68m we spent on Di Maria?

Or the 85m we spent on Maguire?

Or the 50m we spent on AWB?

Last summer we signed Sancho for 75m, we went from securing 74 points to 58.

So don't tell me the singings AUTOMATICALLY improve a side, they don't and we are the shining example of that.

For me shappy, the early the players were brought in the better planning he has, then he can focus on other aspects of his job.

They fly out soon and he is likely to have maybe 1 player if we can get de jong done before the 30th.

I have no doubt we will see a better united because ten hag won't take no crap and tbg even 5 percent extra effort than last season will be better

I am even after all the negative posts I've wrote actually looking forward to the season.

We don't want to be on tour and already in pre season having still not got the squad he wants to go into the 1st game of the season in.

Lets hope we get some good news in the next few days.

Bolger, EtH will be focusing on the other aspects of his job. He'll have little or nothing to do with actually getting a signing across the line. He cannot draw up contracts, thrash out financial structure of deals, release funds, or anything else. His role will be restricted to do you want his player or that player. To which he says yes or no.

While it would be better if any signed players can head out on tour they can join halfway through the tour, or wait until we get back.

We have one game in Thailand against Liverpool, then play three games in Australia against Melbourne Victory, Crystal Palace and Villa. The final two games of the tour will be in Oslo and at Old Trafford.

I'd imagine the first few games will be more about building up fitness than actually implementing a new style.

It won't be the end of the world if new signings miss a few pre-season games.

It's far more important we get the right players through the door, no matter when that is.

Agree get the right players, but he will want to implement his style from the get go gives him an idea of who needs replacing also and who can cut it.

We had one of the worst ever seasons.
Playing style is sh1t.
8 players left the club.
Pre-season training starts in 2 days.
And we have given the new manager 0 backing so far.

We have incompetent people in charge.
As simple as that.

To be fair shappy I'm not arsed if utd sign players or not. Hopefully ten hag gets the best from this group. I'm excited to see if hanibal or garner step up, intrigued if he can get a tune out of rashford and sancho who are both good players but for what ever reason haven't shown what they are capable of.
All I'm saying is to say we are most improved is just ridiculous. Like I say this group of players have lost the fans with their constant moaning and attitude next season so eth will be up against it.
I fully back the manager and hope he can get us playing lije his ajax teams.
