Following Amorim paying for 30 to go to the final, Cantona has followed, Bruno as well offering 50 and Evra also saying he will fund the tickets saying if Ineos are so broke.
It's actually an embarrassment to the club.

It’s a shameful situation. I didn’t think we could drift further from the club’s ethos than the Glazers, but the new ownership team has taken us even lower.
2.) 14 May 2025

Shameful is the word Danny, what have we become?
3.) 14 May 2025

I know I replied already ut I al sppalled at this. The fact the manager and captain have stepped up sends a very clear message to the owners, and it's not a positive one.
If they feel they need to do this, imagine how they feel about the owners, andvie the owners maybe else. About them doing this.
I hate the Glazers, almost as much as Red Man does, but the new owners are horrible horrible people.
Our club was a community club, it stood for something, but now it is a corporate machine led by cold clinical business people. I am weeping.
{Ed025's Note - i really want to tell you that you are wrong AJH...but i cant mate..
4.) 14 May 2025
14 May 2025 19:55:33
A poorly managed company, AJH.
The club used to be part of the community, now it’s a failing business.
5.) 14 May 2025
14 May 2025 21:05:00
Shocking red man. But we have been told that the club will be in a better place because of these hard cuts. , this is not who or what man united are. It's getting to the point where this club is becoming harder and harder to support.
Get that scumbag Jim as far away from our club as possible.
6.) 14 May 2025
14 May 2025 21:25:51
Is this actually true? It beggars belief.
{Ed025's Note - nothing should surprise you with United these days Fizz..
7.) 14 May 2025
14 May 2025 21:54:40
It doesn’t 25. I’ve been off comms for a short while so hadn’t heard this. Hence my comment that it beggars belief.
8.) 14 May 2025
14 May 2025 22:09:13
What is the actual deal with this situation? Is the club not paying for staff to go to Bilbao? This can’t be coaches, kit men etc because surely they’d be going anyway… is it their families the club won’t fund. I tried searching but most of the stories I read were a bit vague on the details there’s also a story that they are only giving 2 tickets to players families that can’t be right surely?
9.) 15 May 2025
15 May 2025 00:04:13
AJH, "we" have not become anything.
Neither have the tossers running Man Utd. They've always been tossers.
10.) 15 May 2025
15 May 2025 00:06:39
We have quickly become the Ryanair of football.
11.) 15 May 2025
15 May 2025 01:47:30
Not quite sure why anyone surprised with SJR and the methods he uses, many had those red tints on again when he arrived…. it was only ever going to be this way and don’t think it won’t get worse, the real problem is it won’t get better after all the pain…. stuttering from one shambles to another, the grass ain’t always greener…. problem is you just have to go with it, until a big change comes but that’s probably not anytime soon! SADLY.
12.) 15 May 2025
15 May 2025 04:45:37
The club have always been penny pinching, there is the story of Zlatan being deducted £1 from his salary because he had a fruit juice from the mini bar.
13.) 15 May 2025
15 May 2025 04:49:23
The irony is that the club will probably be paying for the billionaire Glazers to attend.
14.) 15 May 2025
15 May 2025 06:57:33
Grim
The club paid the £30m costs so the Glazers could sell some of their shares to SJR and could pocket the £1.3Bn. I can bet the Glazers will have a club expensed trip plus full security to the final.
15.) 15 May 2025
15 May 2025 08:57:00
On face value it seems poor
But how does it compare to Spurs?
Are Utd doing what others do?
Ratcliffes cuts seem way too drastic and is compromising our identity.
16.) 15 May 2025
15 May 2025 09:46:50
I have a different opinion on this but it won’t go down well as everyone has made their minds up. Spurs have given 700 seats to staff, some of which probably aren’t even Spurs fans which means 700 loyal fans will miss out on tickets. United got 14,000 tickets for the final, if 700 were given to staff that’s 5% of the allocation gone straight away and 700 season ticket holders missing out on a ticket and probably buying one off for £1500 off an admin worker who doesn’t when support United.
Whilst I agree close members of staff to the team should be going (which they now are) I think loyal fans and season ticket holders should get first chance to go to the final. Fortunately I got a ticket, others not so lucky, maybe I wouldn’t have been if Helen from the canteen was going instead.
Don’t expect everyone to agree and I see the opinion and that it’s the done thing to slag off everything Sir Jim does but there are 700 real fans happy to be going to Bilbao next week that perhaps wouldn’t have been otherwise, so 2 sides to every story. When I worked at the club pre Glazers I never got given a ticket for finals either, it’s a total non story but seems it’s stirred up the usuals.

GDS2
Please correct me if I am wrong but I understood it slightly differently
This won’t release 700 real fans with tickets the staff or staff relatives won’t get. I understood the staff still have the entitlement to the tickets but have to pay for them. Happy to be wrong and many times as a Season Ticket holder, even as a standing supporter with a Token sheet and been to all games, all tokens couldn’t get a final ticket, well not through the standard method anyway so 100% understand the issues. Corporate tickets started hoovering up final tickets, luckily I benefitted on one occasion but missed finals because of it.
However you frame this, the message that Amorim and several others have felt it necessary to personally fund this does not look a good image.
18.) 15 May 2025
15 May 2025 10:50:01
That stinks off I am alright because I got a ticket so F the rest! Class….
19.) 15 May 2025
15 May 2025 12:35:49
I've no idea what's true and what's Chinese whispers.
Imo a defined style of tickets should be made available for staff to buy i don't think they should be given one free.
I don't think the club should be paying for family members to attend. If the players or manager want to pay for that it's great they all earn big money so it's within their capabilities.
It's also writing sjr's capabilities and it's a gesture that imo he could have made personally or at least contributed. But in no way should a company losing money and laying of staff be seen to fund a jolly for employee families.
@redman I hear you corporate tickets are hoovering up tickets for all sorts of events. I can get a ticket for any event i want through that route and consider myself very privileged on that score. But without corporate funding then most clubs would have to charge double or treble the prices to the non corporate fans.
The business should not be paying at this time so I fully agree that the millionaire employees should dig deep for their less wealthy colleagues and families.
20.) 15 May 2025
15 May 2025 14:39:00
Spurs are offering a free ticket to every full-time employee but United have only set aside a small number for a staff ballot. Paris Saint-Germain are also paying for 600 staff members to attend the Champions League final against Inter in Munich on May 31.
We are cheap.
21.) 15 May 2025
15 May 2025 15:33:02
I believe both of the others are making money and not making a staff redundant ajh.
The club cannot be paying stag off and be finding a jolly. The club should not be paying in their circumstances. I do believe it could amd should be privately funded.
22.) 15 May 2025
15 May 2025 16:17:00
Well it seems players, old and current perhaps disagree. We are non profitable right now, but not because of Christmas bonuses or free tickets, but because of incompetent transfer business, massively inflated fees and stupid salaries.
As a long time United fan said to me 4ecently, love the shirt, hate the club.
23.) 15 May 2025
15 May 2025 16:49:30
I have to agree with Ken on this one. It would be in poor taste to make hundreds of staff redundant and then spend tens of thousands of pounds to fly the remaining staff over to Bilbao.
Of course, whether or not hundreds of staff should have been made redundant in the first place is another matter entirely. From what I gather, poor decision making had led to the club’s workforce becoming bloated, but the scope and scale of the cuts seems pretty brutal nonetheless.
24.) 15 May 2025
15 May 2025 17:02:14
It’s petty but that’s SJR as was the cutting of staff, but again it’s the track record of Ineos
No wonder there is bad vibes running throughout the club, when salaried staff are having to cover some of the loses made by stupid director level decisions and let’s be fair SJR is not exempt from the stupid wasted millions.
He would have gained respect if he had said the club can’t afford it, but I can personally fund it and will.
If it’s happened previously it should continue
But then again you have to have class to live on principles I am afraid united and its owners are deeply lacking in that department!
I am really concerned the pockets for players we need won’t be very deep and it will be shoestring purchases.
25.) 15 May 2025
15 May 2025 17:06:56
I think Ratcliffe missed a trick, the wealthy putting their hands in their pockets, shouldn’t be Amorim, Cantona, Evra, Bruno. It should have been the Billionaire SJR, not for the kudos but because he could.
26.) 15 May 2025
15 May 2025 18:17:37
There's a reason why billionaires are billionaires RedMan. Lol.
27.) 15 May 2025
15 May 2025 18:17:49
It is petty, German. But it makes Ratcliffe look like he's the big strong guy who'll make the tough decisions to get us back again. By focusing on the easy targets.
{Ed025's Note - i never thought you would have worse owners than the Glazers Noucamp, but i think SJR has usurped them mate..
28.) 15 May 2025
15 May 2025 18:25:43
You forgot to mention the millions they spent hiring and firing Dan Ashworth, or the money wasted bringing in new coaches last summer, only to see them leave with compensation in their pockets after a few months.
I definitely think that not buying staff tickets for the final will cancel that out.
29.) 15 May 2025
15 May 2025 18:56:14
Couldn't agree more on that one redman.
The club cannot afford it and it would not have been right to do it given the recent and forthcoming redundancies
However he can afford it personally and should have made the gesture imo.
30.) 16 May 2025
16 May 2025 09:53:47
I think Redman nailed it. Even if the club wasn't funding it, Radcliffe could have paid out of his own pocket. Like you said Redman; because he can.
31.) 16 May 2025
16 May 2025 20:36:37
German,
I’ve no idea how you got that from my post, I said I understand people’s opinions on the matter and that I just have a different one. Hilarious though.
