I think they clearly want Gyokeres, and clearly wanted Delap (I reckon both) . Reckon Gyokeres is still very possible but there's obviously haggling going on behind the scenes.
Beyond Gyokeres, there obviously will be names that are being discussed but they're obviously not the preference. Personally I'd prefer a stop-gap experienced player with a few years in them like Schick or Mateta who can hit the ground running as opposed to another huge outlay on a project with potential.

Or Watkins.

Try to avoid the English players they are invariably a let down and not very good at football.

I get the feeling that eventually Sesko will go to Arsenal and assuming neither Chelsea or Liverpool come in for him we end up getting Gyokeres in July.
By then we will hopefully have got Mbeuemo over the line and progressed the outgoing discussions.

From the limited bits we hear in the news, I would move on from Gyokeres now. If Arsenal is his first choice, let him go there or stay where he is.
If he only joins United as that’s the last team in for him, then we don’t want those kind of players at the club. If United aren’t their first choice, move on.

Fallguy, while I understand that sentiment I don't entirely agree with it.
While I would much rather we sign players who ONLY want to play for us.
The reality is that if we did that then we would miss out on some potential club legends.
Leny Yoro wanted to go to Real Madrid, but when they wouldn't get into a bidding war with us for him he decided to move to us. Possibly because we showed we valued him more than Madrid.
The reality of our situation is that we haven't had a genuine title challenge for over a decade, have struggled to consistently qualify for the UCL and we finished 15th last season.
Players of quality will likely have offers from multiple clubs, many of which are currently better placed to challenge for major honours.
While I want players to want to play for us, I want ambitious players who want to be part of a great team that wins major honours. We've signed plenty of players in recent years that really wanted to play for us, but once here they lacked the fight and ambition to win with us.
I'm 100% certain that we are a better team next season with Gyökeres here at his second choice club rather than Højlund here at his first choice club.
Pride comes before a fall. I wouldn't be too proud to accept a player like Gyökeres personally.

Certainly Wayne Rooney was Ken, had a terrible career here that lad.

Grow up Ken….
Gyökeres is not keen on United so we need to move on.
We have a very well paid scouting team who should be identifying a striker (s) who fits into Amorims system.
I have a feeling we’ll end up with Osimhen very late on in the window. To be honest I wouldn’t be disappointed.

I think we will explore options but won't pull the trigger on any until Gyokores commits to somewhere else.
I am not that worried as some that he would be any less committed or give less effort here, that isn't his game he is full throttle and 100% committed in what he does.
I also do t blame him for wanting to see if the Arsenal deal comes off, clearly it's a better bet right now and the natural choice to male, but if it doesn't happen and United was his option I don't for onw mijute think he is the type who will give any less.
Whoever we get I hope it works out amd what do we know anyway, I remember a thread on here where Isak was suggested a few years ago, everyone laughed at what a stupid idea that was, he had rubbish stats, turned out everyone was badly wrong about him, later that summer he went to Newcastle.

I don’t mind I actually prefer the player who wants bigger and better than United, means whilst they are here they bust a gut improve and work harder everyday to get a further move to the likes of Madrid, they are the players I want, not the ones who think they got to United made the big time and just go through the motions, we got a team full of those…Onana a perfect example.
