Losing Mctominay is going to be tough for the few weeks he's out, the away trip to Sheffield will be a battle, so who will come in? Think Matic is still injured, does young Gardner get a game, it's a big ask for the you lad, our team is getting younger each week now. If Axel was fit would you play him infront of the back four or maybe revert back 3-5-3. We need another win to keep momentum going, a defeat and we are back to square one again.

Sheff utd's formation is causing all sorts of problems to teams this year. Their wide CBs push really high and create overloads all through the game.

It would be a good game to use the 3412 or a 352 formation.

2.) 13 Nov 2019 04:24:34
Yeah it's a tough task to replace McTominay considering Pogba and Matic are not available.
We would probably go with Garner along with Fred in the middle.
Wild card option would be Lindelof.

3.) 13 Nov 2019 06:46:02
Drop pereira back and stick mata/ lingard/ gomes in the 10 position.

Or even go 4-4-2 with greenwood coming in.

4.) 13 Nov 2019 07:54:57
Jones began with Blackburn as a defensive midfielder. This is where he earned rave reviews and was touted as a future England captain, and Utd signed him. Lol.

5.) 13 Nov 2019 16:33:46
Pogba could be ready in time, who knows, his cast is now off.

{Ed025's Note - i think cast off would be the right course of action with him mate..

6.) 13 Nov 2019 23:48:04
Jones? 😂😂😂😂😂😂.

{Ed033's Note - Oh Miss Jones

7.) 14 Nov 2019 12:39:32
You'll have to remind me. Who is this Jones that you speak of?

28 Sep 2019 09:13:43
The media, now trying to stir it with both Spurs and United fans now Ole for the Sack but Poch's want to leave too, this will run and run now. Anything to sell papers.

Redconl

1.) 28 Sep 2019 12:31:14
If we had a proper procedure in place to appoint a permanent manager in the summer, I'd imagine Poch would have been tempted. If he does leave Spurs soon, he would have better options than than taking over this train wreck.

2.) 28 Sep 2019 19:41:56
probably thinking of madrid.

05 Aug 2019 09:16:08
Again the pendulum has swung back, Saturday we were sign both Fernands and Dybala now, neither it's tough on us fans. It will all be over soon, let's just hope they are working on a midfielder and its done by Close of business. Looking forward to next Sundays game already. I think either away the team for Sunday is already picked so it won't include any new signings this week.

04 Aug 2019 19:55:29
News now coming out we have walked away from Dybala deal. Never thought is would happen, but what now for Lukaku and does this effect us making another signing, Fernandez for example.

Redconl

1.) 04 Aug 2019 20:09:59
Its on sky. There hardly reliable. Two hours ago it was still on.

2.) 04 Aug 2019 20:17:23
Also reported tonight by Simon Stone, (supposedly reliable) that we don’t have Bruno Fernandes on the transfer list. Personally I don’t believe that- but I think maybe spurs have got an agreement with him.

3.) 04 Aug 2019 20:18:52
Dybala is clearly a decent player but obviously the circumstances weren’t right. Who knows what it means for Rom but I like the fact we’ve walked away rather than made an error through desperation/ convenience.

4.) 04 Aug 2019 20:38:08
BBC reporting we've pulled out of Bruno Fernandes as well. I really feel we're a little light in midfield so hope Ed has a few other tricks up his sleeve.

5.) 04 Aug 2019 22:39:33
It’s good we have walked away from the deal. From what I’ve read it’s for the right reasons. The fact that the wages and agent fees are too much and more importantly the fact that Dybala would be coming to the club for the wrong reasons.

Walking away from the deal is the right thing to do. Better off without him. I’m sure they will work on somebody else, probably SMS or Longstaff. Or maybe a complete wildcard that nobody has mentioned.

6.) 04 Aug 2019 23:51:50
Wouldn’t be surprised if it was a media briefing. Still time to go. Let’s see what happens. I’m not panicking yet.

7.) 05 Aug 2019 05:43:27
Lesson learnt from Sanchez and Di Maria fiasco.

8.) 05 Aug 2019 06:45:05
Am I the only one who thinks this is Woodward saving face after dybala rejected us. If we actually look closely at his demands they are in no way ridiculous, he earns 7.5mn net which works out to 150k after taxes, what he wants from utd is 180k after taxes, how is that ridiculous? If you change jobs 20-30% increase is something you definitely hope for.

9.) 05 Aug 2019 06:58:58
180k net is about 350k gross, yes that is ridiculous.

10.) 05 Aug 2019 07:49:21
But that's down to the taxes AJH, he is at a club which is a UCL favorite especially given the fact that city or liverpool haven't strengthened that much and will win serie A without breaking sweat, why would any worldclass player take a step down to a mid table club without a payraise, we have been outside top 4 more often than in it, winning a trophy next season would be an achievement, people really need to start accepting the fact that outside of us getting a worldclass big name manager only way we can attract worldclass players is if we pay over the odds. Be it in transfer fees or wages.

01 Aug 2019 19:59:27
What happens with Lukaku now. Are we reliant on selling before we can buy? Why are we stalling in Fernandes and Maguire, if they're deemed too expensive, move on. Can't See Dybala happening never could.

Redconl

1.) 01 Aug 2019 20:16:47
We're doomed!

2.) 01 Aug 2019 20:36:16
Aye. Totally and irredeemably fooked in that position of the dog 😂.

3.) 01 Aug 2019 21:35:07
We will end up with a new tea lady at OT.
She will sign dead line day.

{Ed025's Note - she might end up at spurs mate.. :)

4.) 02 Aug 2019 07:34:01
She will have to like serving mugs and not cups and yes I'm a Liverpool fan.
Just banter lads,

5.) 02 Aug 2019 09:04:46
Tylerano that makes you somewhat irrelevant.

Posted before the game it was an attacking team, they were excellent in the first 30mins and battled for the rest. Brave move by Ole and deserves a lot of credit. Very proud of the lads, just need a run now, the confidence is sky high top four is still on. Good to see Pogba at the game too, he must be itching to get back to a an attacking team full of confidence the difference a week can make.

Redconl

31 Oct 2019 22:39:06
Question for our Eds, would you bring back Pogba if he was fit now? The team is all working together with no passengers,
Pogba does bring the attacking influence but not the intense work we are now trying. I for one don't mind if he's out for another few weeks. Opinions?

Redconl

{Ed004's Note - Whenever we first started playing with this intense work rate and winning the ball highly, Oles first few games, Pogba was possibly the best player in the league for those games. So 100% I would play Pogba ahead of Fred every single day of the week}

1.) 01 Nov 2019 10:05:04
I would prefer to see Fred and Mctominay at the base of the midfield with Pogba to replace the role of Andreas.

4-2-1-3 would be a good formation to accomodate Rash, Martial and James in attack along with the 3 midfielders.

2.) 02 Nov 2019 04:18:00
I’d love to know the extent of his injury. It was his toe, now it’s his ankle. Maybe a slip up or a misquote in the press, but looks like he’s our to December. Busy run of games before Madrid come sniffing in January.

Great player when he wants to be, but I’m not sure what’s going on with him at all.

3.) 02 Nov 2019 10:04:30
I'm not convinced Madrid want him. I think if he goes anywhere its to Paris.

30 Oct 2019 22:58:02
I mentioned a few weeks back that McTominay, was the closest we have come to a Roy Keane type player in years, l didn't say he was as good, but at 21, Keane was at Forrest battling up and down the pitch. McTominay is better now than Keane was at his age and hopefully McTominay can get a level close to Keane with lots more hard work. This guy has the drive and motivation to get much better and has potential to be a captain.

Redconl

1.) 31 Oct 2019 00:17:14
give me some of what you are smoking or dinking no were near roys level.

2.) 31 Oct 2019 02:33:12
I think Pereira is a better passer then Scholes.

3.) 31 Oct 2019 05:16:38
I agree with Redconl, in couple if years we are going to see the best of McTom. Already one of my favourite players this season.

4.) 31 Oct 2019 06:52:34
McTominay better than Keane, at the same age? Really?

McTominay had a good game last night, but nowhere near deserving the comparison with the great Keane.

5.) 31 Oct 2019 06:58:22
He is fast becoming an important player for Utd. He is midfield partnership with Fred is starting to click aswell.

I get the Keane comparisons. He plays with a lot of passion and determination. I don't think he will ever tackle like Keane used to, mainly because in today's game, you would probably get sent off.

6.) 31 Oct 2019 06:59:36
Imnbb gbbh u sshytgd huyhn hubby!

Sorry about that first line people. It's just that I'm laughing so much I can't type 😂😂😂.

7.) 31 Oct 2019 07:14:33
Yes. and I think Fred is as good if not better than Iniesta. marvelous >.

8.) 31 Oct 2019 07:36:25
McTominay was excellent last night but ain’t no Roy Keane. Some people do get carried away. Forget McTominay what about that performance from the Jessiah, truly mesmerising.

9.) 31 Oct 2019 08:08:42
People need to come to vast conclusions after every game. McTominay played well and has put in a few very good performances as of late. Now onto to next game.

Teams at the top don't release the DVD of them beating Norwich. We should be putting those teams to bed and moving onto the next One, exactly like we did against Chelsea and got a very impressive result. Now onto Bournemouth.

10.) 31 Oct 2019 08:13:32
Good player, not on Keane's level at 18 nevermind 21.

But I do like him a lot on think he is improving all the time. Loved how we was barking the orders last night, haven't seen that from a player in a while, anger, hunger.

11.) 31 Oct 2019 09:44:17
McTominay has surprised a lot of people.
He brings bite and energy to the midfield. His passion for playing for the club is what others must look upto.

At the moment, he is the best and most reliable midfielder at the club. Hope to see him improve his passing range.

12.) 31 Oct 2019 10:16:07
I love McTominay he is fast becoming one of my favourite players in our current squad. His passion, work ethic and leadership skills are developing nicely and making him a key player for us.

However, the comparisons with Keane are way off atm. Keane suffers somewhat from time making him a caricature of himself. He had a huge attitude that could only be described as ferocious, yet he was so much more than that. He had skills, vision and ability in bucket loads. Scholes may have had more natural talent than him, but he was one of the few in the EPL at the time that did.

The idea that he was just a battler doesn't paint a true picture of the kind of player Roy was. He could hit 60 yard "Hollywood" balls accurately, although he rarely did, he could play the slide rule pass that split defences wide open, and he could score when the team needed it. He was a intelligent, talented player.

McTominay might be getting around the pitch, putting his body on the line and winning the midfield battles. But he needs to elevate the playing and passing side of his game if he wants to get to the levels Keane got to.

13.) 31 Oct 2019 10:45:47
Getting carried away is in our DNA :D.

14.) 31 Oct 2019 11:25:25
Just let him be Scott McTominay.

{Ed047's Note - you know what you guys are like, always a need to identify the next superstar in your ranks before they disappear without trace.

15.) 31 Oct 2019 12:04:07
Ed047 are you missing Welbeck too? 😂.

{Ed047's Note - 😂. Nice try Shappy but you can’t pin Welbeck on us!

16.) 31 Oct 2019 12:39:54
I blame 24 hour sports news. We're conditioned now to find a story, a new narrative, an outlandish statement to stand behind every week.

The best teams just go from match to match, never patting themselves on the back.

Being consistent for a season or two should be the standard before we're labelling players the second coming.

17.) 31 Oct 2019 12:37:54
Ed047, I must ask how is the "new Roberto Carlos" Kieran Gibbs is getting on.

The only difference between United fans looking to the academy for the next superstar and Arsenal is that we have actually produced some world class talent from our academy. lol.

{Ed047's Note - Roberto Carlos! 😂 I’m thankful I never big anyone up Shappy, a sure fire recipe for disaster. Walcott, Wilshere, Jenkinson a long line of disasters. Still at least we got £35 million for Iwobi. God only knows how.

Just need to off load Emery now and we could be in business.

27 Oct 2019 18:50:29
Vital 3 points today, now 7th. McTominay very good again (a part from the goal) Get a strong partner for him and creative No. 10 will improve us no end. I still think top 4 is gettable, the others are so inconsistent too.

Redconl

1.) 27 Oct 2019 21:17:59
Could have been more. Not often we can say that. Martial made a big difference today.
A nice run of fixtures coming up and an opportunity to gain some momentum.
We must capitalise on the inconsistency of others 3 or 4 wins on the bounce is what's needed.
A couple of shrewd signings in Jan in midfield will help no end.

2.) 27 Oct 2019 21:28:05
McTom was awesome today. Showed a lot of fight and passion as well as being everywhere on the pitch and his passing and goal set the tone for the win. He's developing nicely.

3.) 27 Oct 2019 21:46:31
Well that was refreshing and great to see. should have been more. I was just happy to see a real threat going forward.

Looking forward to the next few games. V winnable.

4.) 27 Oct 2019 22:00:05
It reminded me of some of the performances right at the start of Ole’s reign as interim manager. Lots of forward runs, not just keeping possession for the sake of it and the players looked like they had played together before. Martial and Rashford could make a great partnership.

5.) 28 Oct 2019 04:44:48
And Pogba is out for atleast a month.
Let's see who we sign as his replacement.

6.) 28 Oct 2019 06:29:54
Good to win at last, at least we can smile today. As Ken says we need to maximise our points in the coming games.

7.) 28 Oct 2019 09:59:01
It was a very good game and ao glad to see Martial back. The whole team was playing better knowing someone can atleast score goals.

8.) 28 Oct 2019 10:02:27
Very important 3 pts. Good game indeed.

Martial is really a fresh air for this team.

Now we need to make it consistent. I won't allow myself to get ahead of myself and think we are going to roll, but G*d I wish we can maximize the points in the next games.

20 Oct 2019 20:35:43
Thought the potential of having James, Rash and Martial up top together would be really great, speed, movement and interchangeable, defences would struggle to cope, we just need a midfield to feed them.

Redconl

1.) 20 Oct 2019 20:51:51
And to keep Martial fit.

2.) 21 Oct 2019 05:23:06
We are effective only against defences who don't sit deep.
Because we have devasting pace on counter attacks.

On the other hand, we lack technical quality players to do intricate passes against defences which sit very deep.

3.) 21 Oct 2019 10:04:43
We had 2 shots on target i wouldn't call that devastating TRD.
It was poison to watch.

4.) 21 Oct 2019 10:26:55
Ken,

Starting to think you watched a different game or had ridiculous expectations, I thought the game was a great watch, you can throw shots on target stats out but we had other chances that just missed. On motd last night I realised how close we came to a 2nd which would have killed it and we pretty much negated their threat in the 2nd half as I don’t remember a meaningful chance until the goal.

5.) 21 Oct 2019 13:45:15
He didn't watch a different game he just never wore those 'rose-tinted' glasses! :)

6.) 21 Oct 2019 14:08:33
And he should have high expectations. You are Manchester United - as I said before a colossus of English football, the richest club in the World! And you seem content to concede that your players wouldn't get on our bench! Oh how I hated the reverse situation over some years gone by!

I might be a Merseyside Red and we might be bitter rivals but I have respect. BUT as a fan of another colossus my expectations are high, they bloody should be for both sets of fans!

But it is plain and simple that this game was highly forgettable, lacked quality and any form of positive result for either team would have been unwarranted!

7.) 21 Oct 2019 14:52:49
No gds. I got what i expected a draw. My expectations were not unreasonable. I felt if we scored first we would park the bus and make it hard by hassling them. So i got exactly what i expected.
But it was awful to watch. If that sort if stuff excites or pleases you that's fine.
A very minor improvement.

8.) 21 Oct 2019 14:57:20
Bird,

I was at the game and enjoyed it, the atmosphere was great and there were few chances because of the way both teams played, some great defending.

I’m not conceding that our players wouldn’t get on your bench, I am saying tongue in cheek what some pundits were saying before the game and now everyone was expecting the scousers to just turn up and roll us over as we are so bad, which didn’t happen and we proved the gulf in class isn’t quite what some would have you believe.

9.) 21 Oct 2019 15:29:14
I enjoy even the odd boring game at Anfield simply because of the atmosphere and the camaraderie in the Kop, so I understand how and why you enjoyed this forgettable game.

Being there often diffuses what is, in effect, the tedious element on those days where on-field quality is somewhat lacking (as it was yesterday) .

As for gulf's in class. For me these are never determined by a single game shoot out but through differences in points achieved across season long campaigns, etc. Your Blue neighbours lost to Norwich earlier this season but, believe me, there is a gulf!

10.) 21 Oct 2019 19:01:36
I agree there’s a gulf at the moment, it’s just not as big as some would have you believe, your squad depth isn’t great especially after the front 3 and if you had the injuries we had you would struggle.

I assure you the game wasn’t forgettable for me, it was the day we stopped Liverpool matching the record winning games in a row and the beginning of Liverpool dropping below city, I won’t be forgetting that in a hurry.

11.) 21 Oct 2019 22:07:47
Well said GDS.

12.) 22 Oct 2019 11:01:08
Its a 15 point gulf after 15 games that's the reality.
If my aunt was my uncle it might be different.
If if if if if.
