I honestly cannot understand why people are saying that they don't want Ronaldo. Firstly, I don't think the money side of things is an issue, £60 million is well within our reach as has been proved by the Di Maria deal. And it is clear that LVG won't stop spending until his team is perfect. Realistically, we all expect to see Strootman in a red shirt come January, that would be our centre midfield topped up nicely. The only other area of need would be centre back where Hummels still appears to be the one that LVG wants - that too could also happen in January as we aren't in the CL so it will make no difference to us whether we sign him in January or July as he won't be cup tied.

What I am getting at is that we may come to next summer and our squad is 'complete' other than getting rid of some players permanently like Anderson, Nani, Cleverley, Zaha, Hernandez etc. So Ronaldo may be the deal that we can afford to work on all summer.

He would be the best signing we could possibly make. Stick him into the team with Di Maria, Falcao, Rooney, Mata, Januzaj etc and we would be unstoppable and easily have the best team in the world.

{Ed002's Note - You have very naïve views on money.}

Ronaldo is a great player and its a shame he decided to spend the best years of his career at madrid, although it was his dream club.
We could of done with him over the last few years the question is do we need him now?
Buy a top cb a top cm and i think we will be a very good team .
Give adan a chance imo.

Ronaldo is a top player but that ship has sailed imo

He got himself a big new contract last season so next season at 30 is prob his last chance of another mega contract.
United have started to splash the cash so for ronaldo its prob perfect timing

I can understand both sides of the Cristiano Ronaldo argument.

He will be 30 by the time we potentially sign him in the summer. I always find that a winger, particularly one with pace like Ronaldo has, is usually past their best by 31 give or take a year. So that would give us one world-class year.

However, Ronaldo is clearly not your average winger. Or man. He is a machine plain and simple. Many say he is the best pure ATHLETE in the world. That is incredible for a footballer. He is the best player in the world and still will be come summer 2015. He could also reinvent himself as a number 9 quite easily. He has all the attributes.

There is also the argument regarding whether or not it is a sentimental decision. Make no mistake, we would all love to get Ronnie back, he is a legend for this club and we are proud to have had him because he has continued to show the club respect. But we are currently in the market for the best players in the world, Di Maria and Falcao proved that. There is nobody better at this moment than Cristiano for me. So sentiment or not, he would be a great signing who would walk into any team in the world.

This is not a guy who was an average player but a fan favourite who's available on a free and we're bringing back just to get an ovation. He is and will be for many years one of the very best.

You are forgetting dortmund will still be in the champs league so they are hardly going to let their captain go half way through the season
