Its good someone brought this topic up. I personally don't really care when people say how they 'enjoy more' or have 'greater' passion for Man Utd because they are locals. Its only natural for them to say so. I might have been arguing from the other side if I was a local lad. I just love United and do it passionately enough for me to enjoy it so much that I am saving to make a trip to OT. Yes, a trip to OT would be the most sensational experience in my life and I am jealous of you guys who go there everyday to cheer the team. If it was possible, I would have been there already by now. But, you shouldn't forget what makes United great is how globally it is loved. Sorry to say, but you boast to your local City rivals (and we boast to our rival fans here everyday) about the greatness of United out of its achievements, its footballing history and more importantly how big the club is globally and how it has a widespread passionate fan following. United is the biggest club because of its achievements, the great players and its global support. Would it have been possible if we, from this side of the world, didn't follow the club passionately enough? We have communities all over the world. We have club unions. We gather in pubs to watch matches together and take part in banter. It goes to extents of being involved in fist-fights out of the rivalry even though that is a stupid thing to do. Yes, you are blessed with the privilege of living there and enjoying the natural atmosphere every week, and have different experiences to us. But, that does not, in my opinion, compare the passions between supporter from Manchester and those outside of it.

My sentiments exactly mate. Us fans from across the ocean are just as passionate about the club. We are part of the reason why the club is a global monster. Obviously I can't know some things, like the rivalry with say, Leeds fans. But I hate Liverpool with just as much passion as any other fan from Manchester. I watch games at a Utd only pub, go to great lengths to acquire authentic Utd merchandise. Without the global fans Utd wouldn't be as great, and same goes for Liverpool, Madrid etc

I don't buy into this you have to live there to experience it. I don't live there but I am as big a fan as anyone. Just because you are from somewhere doesn't even mean you necessarily have an affiliation with your local side.

As the great Mancunian Ian Brown once stated.
"Its not where your from, its where your at"
