Having watched UTD and LVG's tactics this season I have questioned whether or not he's the right man for the job. After watching Thierry Henry's explanation of Pep's tactics from his time at Barca, you can see LVG has a game plan/"philosophy" similar to Pep's. However, forgetting Pep had Messi, Xavi and iniesta, his players seemed to want to play for him and execute his plan whereas our players don't seem interested in playing LVG's way. He came to UTD wanting to play 3 at the back and they didn't buy into that and now he's changed it and they're not buying into that either.

I personally think that if we play with one natural holding midfielder in schweinsteiger, carrick or schneiderlin and then have two more free roaming players with them, possibly Rooney and Herrera. Then have young and Memphis wide with Martial through the middle. I do believe we need some more pace in the centre of the park but for now that's the way I would play.

I think LVG needs to be given the time to build a great team again. It will not help the club at all if we sack him and bring someone else in. Back to square one with a lot of money having been wasted.

Rooney in midfield would be a mistake. He's too slow and his touch is poor. I'm not a fan of Young either. He's far too predictable. Run down the left wing cut in his right foot. He never even bothers to have a look and see where the players are. It may look good but he can be headless chicken.

I agree with both points but I'm just going with the players we've got right now. Rooney I think when he fights and gives 100% is outstanding. I love seeing him pick the ball up in the midfield and play a great forward pass/switch. I don't think he's a striker anymore but do personally believe he could be good in a more deeper role.

So does that philosophy include playing Carrick and fellaini when Herrera and schneiderlin where on the bench we are mad at lvg for not using his players to their full strength we are very open when fellaini plays in central Midfield cus e can't make a tackle this team can be wat way better if he uses our players to their full strength.

Schweinsteiger in the holding role for sure but he needs better CB pairing behind him and Herrera and Schneiderlin being the 'legs' of the midfield in front.

We can play 433 as have a good set of midfielders now to fill those roles. Central defence remains a concern though. Before anyone bangs on about Smalling's improvement please watch the Arsenal game again. And recent performances back up my theory that yes he has improved but he's still just a good squad player. We remain 2 centre backs short and if we are going to become a great team again we must go for Hummels / Marquinhos / Stones / Pique.

Further problem though is pace. Of the forward players we've got at our disposal there is only Martial who I think has that combination of pace and form he could hold for a prolonged period of time if right players were around him. Rooney's body is playing 3/4 years greater than his age. Mata always been too slow. Depay looks to in / out form wise. Young is at that age now where he's still a good impact player but he's always lacked consistency too.

Ignoring Shaw's injury we are 2 CBs and 2 'winger/forwards' short as an absolute minimum.

And to get world class players in those positions is going to cost minimum further £200m.

I do see us bidding again for the likes of Neymar, Ronaldo, Bale. And I'm sure there's a bid for Stones in the offing too.

I just don't see the belief is sufficient in LVG though to give him another £200-250m to carry on the rebuild.

All of this shambles over the past 2.5 seasons was avoidable. We picked the wrong man in Moyes when better candidates were available. And in LVG we've picked someone who regardless of tactics was only going to be a 3 year term anyway.

I know Mourinho has a lot of detractors and I understand why. He's like Chris Eubank was to boxing - either want him to win or see him be beat to a pulp. Fergie was a love or hate character too. A lot of great leaders are. Mourinho was THE standout candidate to take over from Fergie and quite possibly we will get our man now when his star isn't quite as shiny.

The United Board has its defining moment right now I whether it sticks with LVG in the hope we can recover and maintain the financially critical Top 4. Or go for Mourinho and give him the one thing he's not done yet. create a dynasty over the decade or so.

Our transfer budget would surely be better spent by someone else other than LVG? Giggs has no experience. Ancelotti at Bayern. Pep seemingly gone to City. Klopp already at Liverpool.

There is only one candidate for the United managers job now. And it's same one we overlooked when Fergie went.
