We played with our hearts in our sleeves. We deserved more. Our fragility at the back was exposed. Yet, we should expect this given our injuries in defence.

Our luck this season, has been non existent. Previous seasons we were lucky. We'd talk how out of 16/17 chances we should be 5/6 nil up.

These younger players tonight showed a certain impetus that has been lacking.

This youthful, enthusiasm coupled with the desire to succeed has bee lacking in our game play.

Let's call for LVGs head. It's so simple, he's to blame bring in a new manager. Hallelujah, God save our new manger.

Oh wait, LVG is here to stay until 2017. ED002 has quite clearly stated this. To accept change, a different style, philosophy isn't easy. I for one have been cursing the manager. Yet I can see hope on the horizon.

Tonight with these youngsters on display, they stepped up. They earned the right to wear the shirt we so closely hold dear to our hearts.

To label last nights performance as boring, uninspiring would be wrong.

LVG is obstinate, we know this, yet he gave the younger players their chance to shine. He could have brougt Young in instead of Borthwick Jackson.

I was reminded of the Ajax of old under LVG.

Yes we're out of the CL, but with these younger players, we can achieve more.

I maybe overly positive, a some what different approach on here. I saw hope. A future for our team.

Slate me all you want. I couldn't care less. Last night the team tried and were unlucky. Luck has disappeared. We have been unlucky compared to teams of old.

LVG provided an insight into his tactics and approach. He clearly knows that our defence isn't quite good enough.

Varela played like Shaw in the rb position. Borthwick Jackson played well. Lingard continues to impress. Martial carries the burden of goals.

So, please feel free to compare us to the teams of old. Over the 26 years of Fergie he provided stability. We've only had 18 months of LVG.

He may have spent vast amounts of money, but take a look across to Man City, they've spent a lot more money and achieved far less.

MH, you speak like a man who has had a few sherbets tonight, but damn it, I've had a few too! I actually enjoyed tonight's game and I think we should have got more from it! That's just the way the proverbial cookie crumbles!
What we saw tonight was much more 'Manchester United' than many of the previous displays we've seen. OK, we didn't get the result we all wanted but I find it difficult to fault the performance.
We're out of the CL but I'm pleased with the performance from the lads. That's all I can ask.
If only some of our earlier performances in this competition could have shown as much heart then we might be in a different position.
Enough said.
r.

Too many first timers in the line up if you ask me. Its really unfortunate they are being thrown in like this at this stage of the season. I hope people don't slag them for making mustakes in the upcomibg games as they are babies in footballing terms, especially when it comes to defenders.

Good post Hatter and I also think we have some, heart and pride waiting for chances to play. I just worry that LVG is not the man to nurture it and bring it out. I know everyone bangs on about him bringing through youth but that was a lifetime ago.
