United will NOT be signing Ronaldo

"Spanish paper AS reports Real president Florentino Perez met up with Manchester United chief executive David Gill for exploratory talks over Wayne Rooney transfer". They also claim that "Perez is willing to pay up to £32m to land Rooney and Gill was told there was no chance United could re-sign Cristiano Ronaldo. "

Meanwhile, Gareth Bale remain United's top target this summer as the club wants to present Moyes with a massive boost to the upcoming campaign.

And everyone knows how much truth there is in a Spanish newspaper. Worse than ours!
Just sit back, relax and wait and see. The only person that knows the truth is Ronnie himself.

2.) 15 May 2013
AS are Madrid based they would be stupid to publish anything but Ronaldo staying at Madrid.

Art,
Where have you got this info from?
I cannot see Madrid signing Bale this year and so I support your view with the interest from United.

Agree- this is nonsense, Gill wouldn't be doing the leg work to offload Rooney, that's Paul Stretford's job. They're maybe some truth in Gill trying to secure someone else

5.) 15 May 2013
It could be good news Gill is in Madrid.
Ronaldo, Benzema or Ozil coming.

Or could it be bad news.
Rooney or Vidic going.

6.) 15 May 2013
TJF - Either way it is good news!

7.) 15 May 2013
Yeah can't imagine Gill would travel all the way to spain to try offload Wayne. It's regarding interest in Di Maria isn't it?

I was thinking Fergie would like to leave the fans with a BIG signing as he retires to give those doubters hope for next season. I was thinking Ronnie, maybe Bale someone like that.

If I am the CEO of the biggest club in the world and another club wants one of my players, without any inclination of including one of theirs in the same or another deal, I wouldn't waste my time flying around. I would just wait for a representative of that club to come to meet me. Just saying.

I believe Ed002 said we met to discuss Di Maria and that was David Gill {Ed004's Note - You are correct}

10.) 15 May 2013
To all those saying that David Gill wouldn't go all the way to Madrid to offload Rooney, David Gill AND Peter Kenyon flew to Madrid to offload Beckham. Just sayin.

I really hope its not Di Maria, I don't rate him at all and is just a fancier version of Nani.

12.) 15 May 2013
Di Maria is far better than Nani, do you watch ANY Spanish football?

13.) 15 May 2013
Jono, Di Maria is a fancier Nani that doesn't have the same flaws as Nani. I would take a player like that any day. Nani when happy is one of the best players around that can single handedly win you games. Nani's problems are mental and Di Maria doesn't have that problem thankfully.

Bale will remain at spurs next season at the least before moving abroad! No bale at Man united

15.) 15 May 2013
No Name

Yes he is better but is just as inconsstant and that is playing with better players than we have. Di Maria is just as petulant and falls over far, far too easily for our league and I just don't like him.

Syd

I agree most of Nani's flaws are mental but where Di Maria may be more confident in himself would that overspill into cockiness when coming into our team? If he applies it in the correct manner like Ronnie did great but if not we could just see him targetted by the opposition and spend half the game on his ar*e complaining. the latter is what he has done for allot of his time in Madrid.

There is no doubt the boy has skills but where we have had one problem child in Nani and everyone except Percy sees the issues Di Maria could bring us a slightly better version of the same problems like said above.

Give me Di Maria skills and Toni V attitude and we are talking ;)

16.) 15 May 2013
Jono, I think Di Maria is a Latin Ashley Young. He too spends a lot of time on the deck.

Sydney!

17.) 15 May 2013
He ain't my favourite player but TBH I think Di Maria in for Nani would be a decent improvement. Add to that Zaha and I'd be much happier with our wing options than at current. (with Zaha being phased in slowly of course)

Bale 60m and Baines {Ed004's Note - I would happily offer Rooney for Ozil, I'd do a straight swap there maybe even give a couple of million. Then use the funds for Anderson, Nani and Evra to buy Strootman and Baines. Lastly break the bank and buy Bale or get a winger and a cm}

19.) 15 May 2013
I honestly think ronaldo wouldn't mind going back to mufc but mufc can't afford him and other players and real madrid wouldn't sell him where as we could buy cheaper players but more of them to build a better squad than just one person

20.) 17 May 2013
Di Maria was discussed as an option, but the player we want from Madrid in exchange for Rooney is Luka Modric! and Again not Ronaldo
