Good Morning Ed002

Hope you had a good weekend. Realistically who are united's top/ preferred targets in terms of a striker and are they available or willing to come.

{Ed002's Note - Gonçalo Ramos, Noah Okafor and perhaps Lautaro Martinez.}

Thank you ed002. Good Targets and encouraging.

{Ed002's Note - I doubt Martinez will be possible.}

Not surprised. I would think many suitors if he was to move and the likes Real Madrid, Bayern and other big clubs will be interested.

Interesting way United seem to be looking at Portugal more now (Diogo Costa also)

Maybe seen how well Portuguese players fit into the Zorem? Or good value for money?

Or Jorge amended working his magic?!

Wallace, I feel like players adapt better to the EPL when coming from certain leagues.

Players from both Portugal's Liga Nos and France's Ligue 1 for example seem to adapt to the rigours of the EPL better than most Continental leagues.

However, the success rate of Germany's Bundesliga and Italy's Serie A seem much lower.

While Spain's La Liga and the Netherlands Eredivisie seem to have a fairly evenly mixed success rate. Both producing a few gems and a few flops.

We have quite a Portuguese speaking contingent at the club currently (Dalot, Telles, Casemiro, Fred, Bruno, Antony and Ronaldo) . With more than half of the Brazilians who have ever represented the club currently contracted to the club.

While also being linked to several Portuguese speaking players in Diogo Costa, Vanderson, João Felix, Ruben Neves, Evanilson, Goncalo Ramos, Goncalo Inacio and Rafael Leao in recent months.

I think from France there have been more misses than hits shappy.
But the epl is like a different sport compared to those other leagues lots of players struggle to adapt to the epl.

Thanks for interesting reply Shappy.

Goncalo Ramos looks decent, tho wouldn’t mind Dusan Vlahovic (Juventus) if he ever fancies a bit of Premiership. Think he’s be ideal for us.

Not sure what’s happening in Juve at the moment - seem to be copying our mess last year.

Vlahovic has looked a good player whenever I've seen him. My only concern is that many strikers who have moved to the EPL from Serie A have struggled to match their form in England to that in Italy.

It's easy to think we are the only big club currently that is poorly run.

Barcelona have sold their future off for the here and now. They will struggle to compete in La Liga over the next decade as financially they just won't be able to keep pace with Real Madrid after selling off so many of their current and future revenue streams.

Juventus seem more like a club who are feeling the pinch of the C.V. and the financial implications that has had. Unfortunately it has got them harder in that they had/ have an ageing squad which lacks identity.

Who out of that squad would other top clubs want to sign? Vlahovic and Chiesa are the only ones who are good enough and not on the decline. However, Chiesa has had a nasty injury and there is no guarantees that he will return the same player as before.

Allegri doesn't seem to know how to create a cohesive team out of the parts he has.

Just when they need to be able to invest the financial situation makes it hard to find the funds needed.

In my opinion they need to decide on an identity of how they want to play, sell off all of the players who don't suit that. Then invest in young up and coming players to rebuild for the future.

We're in a bit of a purple patch for emerging Portuguese players at the minute. They have an excellent crop of youngsters in all positions and as suggested they do seem to adapt well to the Prem although I don't put too much emphasis on this, more by chance than any real reason I think.

Vlahovic (of course not Portuguese) was another of that top tier including Haaland and Nunz I'd have loved at Utd. There is a handful of young strikers I hope could step up for us if as expected we move for any next summer.

Is Ivan Toney being considered at all? think he'd be a good signing and would make a huge difference to our forward line.

Not sure Toney excels in enough aspects to succeed at United. Would love to see us go for the likes of Tammy Abraham or Mitrovic. Would suit the Ten Hag system.

If Toney was French or Brazilian everyone would be all over him :p. Being English isn't very glamorous :D.

I woukd think any off the above would be an improvement to ronaldo. Not slagging one of the greatest off all time but i think the pl and our style does not suit him and we play poorly with him leading the line. I think all our wingers will play better when he leaves as atm he wants everyone to feed him and a lot of times there is a better pass available.

Agree NC: our players seem stat struck with Ronaldinho and try to feed him chances rather than choose better option elsewhere.

Not Ronsldos fault but system doesn’t suit him and he’s lost his pace.
