Seems Fred will be released at the end of the season instead of extending for the extra year. Good call imo if ETH has an idea of a replacement.
For far too long we have been holding onto mediocre dross ‘to protect value’.

I don't see it myself. I think more managers than we'd care to believe would love to have a Fred in their squad. He's in the middle of the pitch for the favourites for the World Cup.

{Ed014's Note - I assume you mean Championship/league one managers

Fred has a terrible first touch and passing is horrendous. If he starts every game for Brazil he will be back in time for the Carabo Cup game fresh as a daisy.

EtH is no mug, he will want good quality players going forward and Fred isn’t one of them.

Many fans are suffering from Stockholm syndrome with Fred. He's one of the most technically challenged footballers that iv ever watched. His work rate is fantastic, he's tenacious, but there's zero point in having a player who's decent at winning the ball if a simple 5 yard pass is too difficult for him.

He's an oxymoron. His job is to win possession when in fact he gives it away.

Going back to Fergies last few years we were too loyal to players who weren't good enough. A decade later we were looking at a bloated squad on mega wages many if whom aren't good footballers. Time for Fred to go and a better player brought in to replace him.

I’d agree. He’s not good enough. Very likeable character for sure who works super hard, but he’s not going to help control games which is was ETH wants from his midfield. Time to move on and replace, or bump up a youngster.
