Do any of you think that the other teams in the EPL aren't owned by "businessmen"? Do you think John Henry is not first and foremost a businessman? Was Abramovic? Sheik Mansour? Of course they are. And most of them have done extremely well from their purchases.

It would seem that the Glazers business model was based on the franchise system where teams are guaranteed ongoing top level participation and profitability without ever winning anything. Their focus has been on extraction of value from the name of the club and the names of the players. Hence Pogba Reinaldo, Ibrahimovic, Cavani - stars with no particularly long term role in building a team. Football has always been a secondary consideration. Hardly a surprise that they were primary European Super League backers.

So now they have been brought back to earth. Lack of success on the field is resulting in a downward spiral. Long term value is predicated on winning trophies. The problem is not that they're businessmen but, when it comes to football, they're just not very good ones.

Shawthing that’s one of the best things I read on here, totally agree and of course they are business men, they made a fortune from being in business, to the level that most can only dream about, yes they have a different business model that’s all, is it working at United probably not dependent on which way you look at it, but for people to say they are stupid or not got a clue in business I would suggest look in the mirror first!

Malcolm Glazer was a successful businessman who built the family fortune from scratch, not sure about his kids so much.

Exactly Oakbark, their businesses have not been as successful since the father died. he was the businessman, the kids are living off his billions, pretty much like the tRump kids.

They screwed up the bucs for a long time and funny enough were the laughing stocks of nfl until a change of fortune in recent years and now with tom brady being a contender. John henry who also owns the red sox complete different to these guys and touch of class.

Oakbark, indeed, the 6 kids may not have their father's savvy. It would not be an uncommon phenomenon. Their failure to sack Woodward despite all the signs of failure his leadership was generating, would suggest that they don't have what it takes.

Another problem that happens when business ownership gets diluted is that there's a greater divergence of objectives. With other shareholders inside and outside the family there may be big pressure to maintain dividends even though doing so by increasing the debt further makes no real sense when enormous investment in players and facilities is required, and interest rates are on the rise.

I remain firmly in the anti-Glazer camp. They have destroyed the club and its reputation. But surely we need to give the manager and the players more than 1 game before we throw in the towel.

To be fair the Bucs under Hugh Culverhouse the previous owner were the laughing stock in the 80s and 90s and almost bankrupt, then Malcolm Glazer bought them and turned them around culminating in the their first Superbowl in 2002. I think needs to be added in the interest of fairness and context and not to say I just hate as it's the Glazers.

You could argue their fortunes dipped between 2008 and 2018 but they really turned around I 2015 when Jason Licht was hired as GM.

Now I want them gone from United, the reason because they consistently have not hired the right people to run the club and make decisions on their behalf. They are then too slow to react and to put right this mistake.

The fact is that CEO was a problem, we were running an outdated model of a manager in charge of everything like it was 1985. Then when everyone else was realising that the Manager job was too big and needed to be split down we carried on with this model, this is where I believe the spectre of Fergie hung over and the solution back then was to find another Fergie, impossible in any case but even more so the way football had developed.

When finally we were ready to move on we hired from within when this was exactly the right time to look outside.

I want Van De Sar, Overmars and Ten Hag as a package, clearly Overmars couldn't come due to his behaviour but I believe that had we hired VdS as CEO rather than from within we would have moved forward faster.

I am finding it hard to actually believe in Arnold and Murtagh right now, I hope to God I am proved wrong

I also don't believe the Glazers want United run onto the ground and don't care about success. To do so would massively deflate the value of their investment, a successful United is worth far more than a flopping United. I just believe they are not very good owners.

I wanted VdS Overmars and EtH it should have said. Overmars is clearly not the man as of now.
