I think Shappy wrote a cracking piece about our GK dilemma but until the ownership situation is sorted out I think any talk of transfers is redundant.

EtH has publicly stated that he has no idea what his transfer budget will be this summer and he probably won't even know if the Club will sell the players he's deemed as surplus to requirements.

EtH has a reputation for being a meticulous planner so having no idea what will happen this summer must be extremely frustrating.

I'm concerned that another chaotic transfer window may leave him vulnerable moving into next season.

We've seen Liverpool put a late winning run together and could even pip us for top 4. I expect them to strengthen in the summer. Chelsea and Spurs will have new managers and Newcastle will surely invest again especially if they make the top 4.

Some may argue that the Glazers can take as long as they want to sell the Club and it's their prerogative to achieve the best price they can.

In my opinion having plunged the Club into significant debt during their leveraged buy out, crippling the Club whilst servicing millions in interest and loans re payments every season, simultaneously syphoning away millions in dividends and not investing in the stadium, training facilities or infrastructure this is yet another example of absent owners harming the Club yet again and showing their contempt and arrogance towards the supporters. We're all on here discussing what we need in the summer yet the manager has no idea himself.

Football Clubs are not like other businesses and if the Glazers held any regard towards the supporters they would find the best custodians for the Club moving forward and speed the process up to give us the best chance to be competitive again next season.

With yet more rumours surfacing this morning that no preferred bidder has been identified and in fact they have been left completely in the dark the saga continues.

We have owners that don't care one jot about the football Club aside from how much money they can extract so keeping them involved in any capacity is completely unacceptable in my opinion.

The most important thing this summer is not the GK but having new owners that have a commitment, strategy and plan to return us to the top.

The glazers are **** who have ripped this club to shreds and are still not happy with the world record valuation and billions of dollars of profit.

Their valuation is just a revolting number made up in their heads. And anyone who defends their right as owners to do this to our club is a major part of the problem in my eyes.

Football club ownership is a role of custodian on behalf of the generations of fans and long serving employees.

We need to stop echoing that it is their right, or their choice what they do with our club. They exist to serve the fans and wider stakeholders. What have these leaches done for us? How effective are our owners?

It is so disgusting what they did to buy our club, that the Fa and prem league banned it for future club purchases. They stand to make billions by bleeding us dry, yet the debt they used to by the club still sits their on our books.

It actually makes me feel sick to think that Joel and Avram might be sliming their way round wembley with their plastic grins, fresh from the bloody butcher's table of another few weeks of the glazers dithering about how many billions in free money they are satisfied with.

The Glazers will take as much time is necessary to extract the absolute maximum amount of money they can from the sale.

Ultimately it is what it is, and there is nothing can be done about it.

I expect us to be in with a tougher fight for top four next season. City and Arsenal will be back fighting for the title, and I expect Liverpool to dramatically improve, if they can bring in a couple of midfielders then I expect them to be comfortably in the top four.

That leave ourselves, Chelsea, Newcastle and maybe a surprise side such as Brighton maybe fighting it out for the final UCL place.

Newcastle I think will have a tough season next year, they don't have a deep squad and how they have managed to perform this year is in part due to having no European football and being able to concentrate on the league.

Chelsea is anybodies guess at the moment. For them it's more about shipping out players and moulding a smaller squad to suit the new manager. Whether they can do that will go a long way as to deciding where they finish next season. Done right and without European football to distract them they could put a good run together and push for a top four finish.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Brighton there or there abouts next season. Great manager and although they will likely lose a player or two this summer, if they can replace them well then they will be a strong side next season. Although a top four place for them probably depends on other teams declining and slipping down.

A good summer could be the difference between being comfortably top four or fighting for it.

Forest supporter here, read your post shappy son. And yes i can understand where you get the sweeper role from. I played keeper at a decent standard many years ago now.

I just think fans expect way too much of them these days. It’s ok you sitting there shouting out orders young man. Try doing it. Defence to sort, when to close down. And believe me you’re talking 10ths of a second. Who to put in your wall.

Believe me there's a lot of soft ar ses out there happy with the money. Sorting pens, just screaming none stop. To keep yourself in the game when it's quiet. When to catch or punch a ball. Again every keeper just punches these days.

I think the last keeper i remember doing so was seaman. But most of all getting the confidence of that Defence in front of ya. Just a few points and again good post. But sorry just my view.

My point exactly Shappy. We will not have a good summer with these clowns involved.

Make no mistake, our owners are enemies of the football club, but fully expect them to show up to wembley all smiles and awkward handshakes.

Bowiered, I understand the demands of a keeper are somewhat different to those of the outfield players. The pressure on them is always significantly more than those playing outfield, mistakes scrutinised more etc.

However, that said the role changes and evolved just like the role of other players. Like always the cream rises to the top, those able to adapt, and thrive in the new world order make it to the top. Those that can't get left behind.

Managers are constantly looking for marginal gains, how to get an advantage over the opposition. Changing roles or expectations of players, new tactics etc.

Teams playing at an elite level now use their goalkeeper as an auxiliary outfield player. They can no longer merely concern themselves with keeping the ball out of the net. Just like defenders can no longer solely focus on defending, or how forwards are now expected to defend from the front and lead the press and win the ball back.

Goalkeepers are merely the latest in a long line of players who have to have a more rounded skillset and contribute to all phases of play.

Nice reply shappy, as you point out. And as i always remember, you can pull off a lot of saves. Yet you mess up once and that goal costs. Everyone just remembers that mistake. Don't get me wrong you can't go near keepers these days. I always had a soft spot for one your older keepers. And remember him. Bless him having a bit of a mare on his arrival. Jim Leighton. I know a lot on here will probably slate him. But i to this day dunno. Just always thought he had it in him to become a good keeper. Coming from Scotland i had visions of myself playing for new team without knowing anyone. Haha. Sorry just me looking back.

glazers are incompetent owners due to their management decisions that has driven our transfer policy, managers etc etc. Make no mistake we have spend with the best but have been so poor at it as the ceo has had no vision or strategy.

They are leaches as some would like to say but not for dividends taken out as they are rounding errors but for the idea that they can run a club so poorly.
