been reading about City and Chelsea potential issues with ffp. If i was a betting man I think they will get a draconian punishment. They basically been involved in systematic cheating. I would take all their pl titles from both.

There is no argument for winning by cheating.

ahmad- the issue with city and chelsea seems obvious :they have money and will ride out any scenario. Everton are imo being used as scapegoats but their plight and actions should have been sorted at the time. With city and chelsea, it has been allowed to ramble on for in citys case over a decade and is still miles away. OPersonally think that there are worries that the big "2" being severly punished could start a rollercoaster repeat of the breakaway?
Newcastle and others will come to light over the next couple of years and can see a backlash if clubs "loan" players from saudi or feeder clubs as apparently that door is still open.

Cheating is cheating, if you break the rules to gain an advantage over the opposition you should be punished accordingly.

It shouldn't matter how it's done. If a club bribes officials, that's cheating.
If a club has a doping programme, to gain an advantage by giving their players performance enhancing drugs, that's cheating.
If a club intentionally breaks financial rules, giving them a clear advantage over their opponents, that's cheating.

The more money a club spends typically correlates with how successful they are. At the very least it gives them greater access to better players through transfer fees and being able to offer higher wages. Which gives them an advantage over the opposition.

If one or two sides are breaking the rules then the sporting integrity of the league is compromised. It doesn't matter whether that team wins the league or finishes 17th, their cheating will have impacted who wins the title, who qualifies for Europe and who gets relegated.

Everton have been convicted of 1 breach of FFP and have been given a 10 point deduction. That sets a precedent.

If a club is found guilty of more than 1 breach of FFP then they will have to suffer a punishment greater than a 10 point deduction, and in line with the level of cheating.

If Man City are found guilty of over 100 FFP breaches then I really cannot see anything less than relegation.

I mean going on the Everton precedent of 1 breach equals -10 points. Then if City are found guilty of 100 breaches then that's -1000 points??

Relegation to just the championship would be a lenient punishment in light of the Everton punishment.

Never going to happen shappy, u and I both know it. The case will be lucky to see the light of day and will disappear under red tape for years. They will then hope we’ve all forgot about it. Everton are being used as the sacrificial lamb and if punishment isn’t issued to others then the premier league will show that they are disingenuous and corrupt.

Tim, if it doesn't happen then the end of the EPL won't be because of a breakaway European league, but because the organisation has undermined itself and destroyed it's integrity.

City will not get away with ant form of cheating and will be punished. Everton punishment has set the cogs in motion. No way on earth Everton, other clubs and the premier league will hope its all forgotten as Everton would cause a stink and rightfully so. Everton cheated and so have city on a more larger scale. might be next year, but city are screwed.

Chelsea have been here. were banned from bringing in players (i think as Lampert was manager first time) . then they appealed and they won.

Also. on the flip side. does the everton pts deduction set a precedent and city will also be punished.

Points deduction or money mean nothing long term. They gained an advantage over their opponents, therefore their domestic trophies should be stripped from them.

Let the history books show that cheaters don't prosper.

The biggest advantage they have is Texi and Pep, Pep is obviously a great manager but Texi keeps finding him players. I am pretty damn sure that Texi would not have allowed the United mess under his watch.

What should happen would be similar to what happened Juventus some time ago - stripped of titles and relegated several leagues

That would set a strict precedent for the consequences of blatantly cheating, but it will probably be a slap on the wrist and a fine

If no strict punitive process is taken, then what stops other clubs doing the same? Rich states take over, spend what they want and illegally inflate their sponsorship deals to cover the big spending, win loads and pay a small fine then which invariably would be peanuts compared to the money brought in from winning a pile of trophies.

{Ed001's Note - do you spell fine b r i b e by any chance?}
