A question or two for those of you who have watched Ederson play.

Where would you consider his best position and how do you rate him?

I've not seen him play but at £38m, seems a little cheap to me, is he a bargain or a squad player?

Have seen him play quite a few times, think he is an excellent player. A couple of years ago Atalanta went to Anfield in C.L. and won 3-0. He was outstanding, and they could easily have scored more.

2 summers ago I posted on here that I would like to see him signed along with Joao Neves and Antonia Silva. Silva has not really progressed as expected, but the other 2 certainly have.

Firstly, as to the fee, his contract only has a year left, and he has said he will not sign a new one. Atalanta were prepared to sell at a lower fee rather than see him go for free next summer.

Indeed, originally it was expected he would go to Atletico Madrid, who had agreed personal terms with him, but would not pay the fee Atalanta were asking. That is when we stepped in and agreed terms. It has been widely reported that a number of other clubs made contact with his camp, but he made it known he would not speak to anybody else, as he said he wanted to play for Utd.



My own view is that we have got an excellent bargain.

As to his style, many feel he is perfectly suited to the P.L., as he possesses great physicality and strength. He is a good ball winner with stamina, has the power to carry the ball forward, and has decent pace and pretty good passing skills. Whilst he can play box to box, he is probably better suited to being a No 6.

Hope that helps a bit, Jrred. As I said, I think this is an excellent start to the transfer window, but not only him; we need a box to box player as well. I have said a few times I hope it's Fernandes from West Ham. If we get those two (and I think we will also get a third) alongside Bruno and Kobbie, it should give us a midfield that can go up against anybody.

Just hope, having said the foregoing, that he delivers the goods. Of course, nothing is guaranteed with transfers, but I have to say I am optimistic. We shall soon be seeing!

Jrred, not seen any of him this season, tbh. I had watched him a bit before that.
He is a really good player, imo. Very good tekkers, strong in the tackle.
It's the usual issue of can he make the transition to the EPL? It's like a totally different game, I think it will suit him, but I tend to look on the positive side, but it's guesswork.
