According to German journalist (Bild sport), Rangnick will be targeting Nkunku, Haidara, Haaland and Werner.
I'd take the first 3 but not Werner.
That being said, how anyone knows who Rangnick will be after at this early stage is beyond me.

It's just media speculation, they always link former players to a manager at a new club. All about getting clicks.

The reality is that Rangnick isn't the long term manager, unless a long term target is available in January I doubt we'll sign someone. While next summer if all goes to plan Rangnick won't be our manager and you would therefore assume that any targets would be for the new manager and what that manager feels he needs to implement his style.

Obviously the idea is that the next manager plays a similar style, but that doesn't mean they will want the same players as Rangnick might want.

Nkunku looks a really good player and is tactically clever enough to play multiple different roles across the front line and in midfield.

Haaland is just a pipe dream for most and is a big name who'll attract a lot of attention when you throw his name in with United. We don't deal with his agent, and he doesn't want to join us.

Haidara, decent but nothing special, could be useful in playing a specific style, but he hasn't really played any other style to know if he could adapt and maintain or improve his current level.

Werner is just a silly one.

Personally I'd be surprised if we sign anyone in January, while the summer signings will surely be made with the next full time manager in mind.

Just usual clickbait!

Haidara’s name keeps coming up but I don’t see him as much more than a slightly upgraded version of Fred. Werner is awful. He works hard and presses but he misses continually.

I was wondering how long until we were linked with RB players, seems it’s happened already ?.

I think the only sure shot name that we may look at is Declan Rice, whether that is in January or the summer is unsure. Rice seems to be a club target rather than a manager's choice like Herrera and Shaw were.

I saw Haidara's name coming up a fair bit and was quite encouraged by it. I hadn't heard of him, but to be linked with shall we say under-the-radar lesser players who the manager believes fit a certain style and are obtainable with realistic fees/ release fees is a welcome change over the usual marquee names who I've become tired of. A few have been very good but on the whole no signings have impressed in the past 8 years other than Bruno and a few from our our own academy.
A club like Utd has hundreds of scouts all over the world and this is the motley crew they've come up with. Let's try Rangnick's approach I say, I assume that's why he's here.

First of all, we need to reduce our wage bill to comply with the FFP rules. We need to sell a player or two in January.

I wouldn't be surprised if the club did sign at least one player, providing players are sold. Ragnick will be trying to set the tea up for next summer. The next 6 months will help him drill the tram for the next manager who will likely be a manager who has a very similar philosphy.

Ralf said yesterday he will only buy in January if it is a player who improves the team and that those are rarely available in winter, so I wouldn't expect much movement.
In the summer we might have a new manager coming in, so obviously they will have a say in who we target.
