Reason for CR7 looking for a CL team is quite clear now. He is currently all time top scorer in CL with 140 goals followed by LM10 with 125. He want to score as much as Messi do in CL in the next few years so he can retire with the 'all time top scorer record'.
He may be willing to take huge pay cut to play in CL even in a smaller team but he want full 90 mins in all the games they play and he want to take all penalties, freekicks.

He's here till January and will probably be cup tied I assume in January.
Things can change and a month later you could see Ronaldo with 4 goals in 4 games or something.

How have we come about this insight that Ronaldo wanting to leave is solely because of his personal record of ECL goals?

If I were going to guess I would say he realised we were crap and not going to win anything. Realises he isn't suited to HagBall and won't play much either and for a player of his status moving rather than sitting on the bench for a rebuilding team makes sense.

I have seen the selfish stuff spouted in the media with absolutely no source. It just seems its a narrative to paint him in the worst possible light.

Totally correct Ken and Oak, I’m shocked the world is so full of such gullible people and getting worse…… there is no source or not an ounce of evidence to this ridiculous stupidity…… being the biggest name on any world stage in this day and age comes with the territory of people making stuff up daily, easy to say why don’t they come out and deny it, but it would be a full time job and take up every minute of everyday…. Whether Ronaldo wanted out or not is irrelevant now. He is here for the rest of the season. I am assuming if he plays any minutes in the Europa League it would cup-tie him for another UEFA competition so even a move in January would not make sense.

Biggest thing for Ronaldo is he has to adapt to being a super sub rather than a starter. After a couple of wins on the spin that's all very well but if we start to get unexpected results, as most of us are expecting in Ten Hag's first season, let's see how happy the group remains.
