I think we all need to accept that if we don't make 2 or 3 very good signings by the end of tomorrow the best we can expect this season is CL qualification for next year. This team is just not good enough.and that is not a knee jerk reaction to a poor 1st half at Anfield! We have had an amazing 20 years but over the last 2 or 3 seasons we have been caught, and probably overtaken by others in terms of quality. What has kept us competative at the top level has been the work ethic and team spirit and the "Fergie Factor".
Moyes has come in and inherited a very good squad, but a pretty mediocre starting 11 by United standards. We look devoide of ideas going forwards against the top sides, and are too often over-run in midfield. Many posters are saying that need the best players in the world.but in all honesty we don't just need the very best. There are players out there who may not be up there with the "best", but would still improve out team. It is not all about "marquee" signings, just better players who would take us forwards. I really hope the club can get a couple of those players in by the end of tomorrow.

Top post! Agree 100%.

Agree, tomorrow could be a massive day in our season if we want to be up there challenging for the title. poor today, no cutting edge at all

Woodward isn't thinking of making the club better by wanting a 'marquee' signing. He's thinking of the kudos it will get himself. Let's hope Herrera comes in and we play Zaha who can actually create something.

I agree, but we have world class in kagawa why he doesn't start is beyond me. He would of been a big link between midfield and persie. We look short of ideas moving forward and can not see who is going to do that with players we have. Other clubs have picked up players why haven't we? Other clubs are now catching us up big time with strong squads

I thought United would finish 3rd with signings anyway, but after the 1st half performance , 5th place looks more accurate. Now saying that, the second half was much better and gave me hope for a 4th place finish. so in closing : I am more confused, a long season ahead I fear.

I am puzzled by Cleverly, every time he gets the ball he looks backwards, turns round, finds no one, if any picks up Rio. His best moves is run outwards, yet he is a central midfield. He avoids forward spaces, the guy has no clue what it means playing for United. He causes a lot of stress to supporters. Gigs is past it. I don't know what the coach sees in him. Please keep him on the bench. I understand the coach went for experience, but he was easily overrun by the Liverpool midfielders. Young (Mr Plastic Legs) is not our standard. Please move him on by monday night. In conclusion, we just had no match winner today. I also hope Evra isn't thing about going in the next 48 hours. The team was flat except defence which I think played well at Anfield.

Agree with everything said. I cannot for the life of me understand why Giggs is being played ahead of the younger talent. I know he's a legend and can still do the odd cross or assist but he loses the ball too often. I almost think it's quite selfish really that he hasn't retired already, stinting the development of Zaha/Januzaj/Lingard etc.
