Ed, just wondering if we have any interest in Dendoncker? We were linked with him in the summer and supposedly we touched base with his reps and I've seen some more links today. Thought he stood out for them last year when we played them, even over Tielemans, so just thought I'd enquire, many thanks in advance.

{Ed002's Note - There is long term interest from when JM was at Chelsea.}

18 Jul 2017 13:54:26
Ed, hope you don't mind me asking and ignore if you want, we all know that we have interest in Perisic and I've seen you say he is a target in other posts and that Inter had set a very reasonable price before the beginning of July. So my question is, what exactly is the hold up/ what is actually going on? Because I've just seen that he's flying out to China with the squad and surely United would of wanted it done by now, so it's not another smokescreen is it? I don't understand why we wouldn't of payed up by now if we did indeed want him so badly. Thanks in advance, any new info would be appreciated just to clear it up a bit.

{Ed002's Note - There is no agreement on price - it would have been much easier to have agreed this in June.}

1.) 18 Jul 2017 15:57:16
Ed 002 in addition to this, may I ask you that if persic is the only target for wing role? Because no other name is coming in front. Like at time of morata. It was belloti. For CDM we hear. MATIC, DIER OR FERNANDINHO. So any other transfer target for wings.?

{Ed002's Note - Perisic was second choice but is very much the preferred option. I previously provided a list - they could return again to look at that. I did not know about any interest in Fernandinho. Again, I have said about other options.}

2.) 18 Jul 2017 16:23:57
Do other Ed or fellow posters mind telling me who was other winger target.

{Ed004's Note - I can't remember either ATM}

3.) 18 Jul 2017 16:41:10

4.) 18 Jul 2017 16:45:12
Malcolm Filipe, Gelson Martins and Willian.

5.) 18 Jul 2017 17:17:28
Griezmann was the no1 target. That went south with am's ban. Perisic was 2nd choice and that is why he is now 1st choice. As mentioned above other options were Filipe, Martins and Willian.

6.) 18 Jul 2017 17:42:53
Emil forsberg!

7.) 18 Jul 2017 17:48:46
Willian is a good call. I wouldn't have been against that move.

8.) 18 Jul 2017 17:58:45
I tell you, if perisic signs, he will assist lukaku with so many goals. No nonsense winger. IMO much better than Willian.

9.) 18 Jul 2017 17:59:15
Thanks Ed.

10.) 18 Jul 2017 17:03:37
I was messaging a friend before who said Inter are asking for large bonuses/ add ons and that is holding the deal up majorly. I don't know how true this is of course but it may well be the case. I doubt ed002 will confirm as it is to do with money and we really don't know the ins and outs of such major deals.

With the player supposedly off to China for pre-season, I think Jose may ask Woodward to tie it up as quickly as possible. If not, I really do wonder if we could convince Sanchez to join us and convince Arsenal to sell to us. I know ed002 has said this is a no go at this moment in time. With the reported fee of around 40odd million plus bonuses, Sanchez, with one year left on his contract, could well go for around 15m more than Perisic. Are we missing a trick here by not trying? Of course, he could have no interest in joining us anyway.

11.) 18 Jul 2017 20:20:58
Id throw over the odds cash at a. sanchez but as u say its IF he would come to us in tbe first place.

He is definitely worth spending big on.

02 Jun 2017 11:24:22
Ed, I've read the posts and sorry to ask you another question regarding Griezmann, as I'm sure you're sick of them, like we all are, but you mention that he will stay as he want's to move to the new stadium and how the clause has no relevance to us, unless we pay over the odds. My question is, is this still a possibility we might do that (pay over the odds)? Or have we completely moved on for now? Thanks in advance.

{Ed004's Note - What's the point paying way over the odds if the player doesn't want to come though. If he has made his mind up we need to move on}

1.) 02 Jun 2017 14:29:32
Ed, I was more wondering if it is completely dead and we won't bother maybe towards the end of the summer or in the future.

{Ed004's Note - I think their appeal getting turned down has killed any chance of this deal happening}

2.) 02 Jun 2017 14:37:32
It's a shame, thought he would of been perfect for us. Something still doesn't seem to add up in all of this, but spose we just have to get someone who fits us just as well. Struggling to think of many, because if AG did come, he was probably going to play across the front three, not number 9 anyway. Also hope we don't panic and buy some players for the sake of it, I'd rather wait tbh, because it could impact our plans net year too.

3.) 02 Jun 2017 23:15:04
He needs better advisors I feel like he handled this transfer pretty badly, I don't know what has really gone on but if the "gossip" is true, to the average fan he looks like he mugged United, he going to get a decent pay rise, if it's true then I do hope United wash their hands clean of him and we don't have anymore interest in him (including next summer)

Hope all this gossip is a load of baloney, I have a feeling it is, we will really know what the reason by August the latest, can't really believe that he changed his mind because of the transfer ban.

4.) 03 Jun 2017 06:54:49
Glad he is not coming. not worth 85 million pounds. good player but not worth breaking the bank for him.

5.) 03 Jun 2017 10:21:12
X files, Is £85 Million really breaking the bank for United tho?

12 Mar 2017 22:37:04
Ed2, after recent reports about Griezmann, in your opinion, where do you think he'll be playing next season? Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - Eventually Manchester United will understand why Chelsea stood back. I expect him to stay one more season in Madrid as it stands right now.}

1.) 12 Mar 2017 23:02:58
Have to admit recently I get what Ed002 means with he talks to much lol

I think with Simeone most likely staying and a new stadium to move into soon can see why he going to stay

I would love Griezmann if the circumstances were right, if we could adapt the no10 position to him and have gin play off Zlatan then it would make sense, anywhere else on the pitch is a waste of potentially 85 million.

2.) 13 Mar 2017 21:38:32
ED002, Griezmann over eagerness to talk to the press, the reason why Chelsea took a step back?

{Ed002's Note - It was a major issue to the club.}

3.) 14 Mar 2017 08:21:54
Cheers ED002.

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome.}

4.) 14 Mar 2017 16:16:01
Ed002 Where do you recommend me looking, to find out about why Chelsea backed away?

{Ed002's Note - Mad Hatter answered it.}

5.) 14 Mar 2017 19:10:00
Sorry it has been one of those days! Cheers.

31 Jan 2017 14:12:21
No deals today, in or out, Mourinho confirms. Knows what he wants for summer though, not really a huge surprise we haven't done any business this month. All this straight from his press conference

1.) 31 Jan 2017 16:49:45
jose confirmed rooney and young not going anywhere, when you think of the headlines in the papers the past few weeks, just shows they print whatever they want to.

2.) 31 Jan 2017 17:39:22
Or websites. more often than not they are full of BS and sensationalism to get hits and clicks sells papers and advertising and draws in the gullible.
Manchester United sells and draws attention.

3.) 31 Jan 2017 17:43:50
jose did say before the transfer window he was happy with the squad

4.) 01 Feb 2017 10:51:42
The mirror had an article yesterday headlined

'5 Manchester United transfers that won't be completed today'. This is the new thing for the media, reporting nothing as a story, it is pathetic to be honest.

Another I saw the other day was 'united compete deal for winger' and it was about Memphis leaving, but they know what people will click on, click bait at its very worst.

Ed2, I won't ask now as I'm sure you're extremely busy with the end of the window fast approaching, but when everything is settled down, is it okay I ask something about United and Griezmann, just would like to know a few bits and bobs, thanks in advance.

{Ed002's Note - Of course.}

1.) 30 Aug 2017 09:38:18
What's this question Elvis? Ha.

17 Aug 2017 13:30:58
Just thought I'd relay this info for anyone not on twitter etc, but Duncan Castles, who a lot seem to think has close ties with Jose, has just reported that we are weighing up a move for Lemar, after exploring deals for Ronaldo and Bale. Also says that we still want a champions league level left back and will sell Shaw to fund the deal if needs be. Don't shoot the messenger.

1.) 17 Aug 2017 14:07:48

2.) 17 Aug 2017 14:16:57
I can't see it happening but think it would be a good move an attacking winger who I'd imagine could comfortably slot in at lwb if we where to go with 3 at the back.

3.) 17 Aug 2017 15:08:41
Is he much of an upgrade on Martial?

4.) 17 Aug 2017 15:42:25
i think he would be a great fit if we get him. Very young, but has a physical side to his game so should not find it too hard in the premier league. Plus he is good at set pieces and we lack someone to take our indirect free kicks and corners.

5.) 17 Aug 2017 16:35:04
If we play 4231 we have four offensive positions. Currently we have Lukaku, Rashford, Martial, Lingard, Mata and Mkhitaryan for those 4 positions. Is 6 players for 4 roles really enough squad depth for a 50-60 game season?

Probably not, that's why I wouldn't be surprised if we saw another winger come in. Lemar looks a good option, glad he gave up on his singing career to focus on football. Maybe there is some justice in the world.

6.) 17 Aug 2017 16:42:17
I thought the new Man Utd way was to always hit the first defender from corners?

7.) 17 Aug 2017 17:03:43
New, we've been doing that since Giggs took them.

8.) 17 Aug 2017 17:48:45
I hear you Shappy, but the deal is probably only 50/ 50. Here all week.

9.) 17 Aug 2017 18:39:38
If there's any justice in the world we will sign him.

10.) 17 Aug 2017 19:54:12

Well played.

11.) 17 Aug 2017 20:43:30
Why thank Gds2 😁😁.

12.) 17 Aug 2017 21:16:41
Lol Shappy; that was a goodun'

11 Aug 2017 14:52:47
So just thinking on what Jose said in his press conference about wanting 4 signing's etc.
IMO all summer I've wanted a left back with the same drive as Valencia, think it should of been a big priority of ours, because we don't have a natural left back at the mo and we can't exactly rely on Luke Shaw, no matter how good his talent. If that was our last signing of the window I'd be happy, because even though we do need another forward, I'd rather us wait for Griezmann, than go buy another player who won't be needed as such next year and also won't necessarily improve what we have (Perisic) . I guess that's also the thinking about bringing in Ibra for 6 months, but obv's this is all hypothetical and a lot could change between now and August 31st. What you guys think?

{Ed002's Note - I would not take too much notice of what he says.}

1.) 11 Aug 2017 15:35:53
I believe that if we don’t get any other transfer Jose would be thinking in playing Rojo and Young as left backs (when fit) . and Shaw and Darmian and even Mitchell would get some minutes. of all I have mentioned the best I seen so far that can’t go and attack and defend as well probably is Mitchell but we cannot depend on a kid for the entire season and he needs some guidance of a natural Left Back for some years before he can become a 1st team player. let’s wait for the eds sharkpood to see if there is any light regarding the left back position that as we all agree is a most in our current squad.

2.) 11 Aug 2017 15:50:53
Very true Ed and I don't, it was more just my personal preference. Looking forward to your Sharkopod!

{Ed002's Note - Enjoy Elvis.}

20 Jul 2017 11:52:00
Ed's are United still interested in Renato Sanches? I saw your post about him saying that Bayern want rid etc. Last year we were and now that he is available, surely we will enquire at the very least. Personally, I think he has still got great potential and just for some reason believe that Jose could get the best out of him. One year doesn't make you a bad player and people forget he is just a kid. Never thought moving to Bayern was the best idea for him, so I hope he turns it around because I really like him. Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - Try the search engine.}

13 Jun 2017 12:46:08
Away from transfers for a minute, and assuming Rooney does leave, who do you guy's think will be our captain next year? My bet would be Valencia. Model pro and one of our most consistent players these days and vital to how we play imo. Been with us ages now as well, so reckon Jose will ask him first. Hope we don't have a club captain like Carrick, need someone out there who's playing week in week out.

1.) 13 Jun 2017 13:00:35
I don't know who the captain would be but I am ready to bet that atleast 95% of the replies would say Herrera.

2.) 13 Jun 2017 13:25:47
It has to be Herrera.

It needs to be someone who is tactically aware, good engine, good communicater, intelligent, fit to play 90% of games.

Herrera ticks every box for me.

3.) 13 Jun 2017 13:20:06
I never see Valencia open his mouth during games so he wouldn't be my pick I'd go either Herrera or Pogba for some reason I always like a centre mid being captain.

4.) 13 Jun 2017 13:21:17
Herrera valencia does not speak English so it will be a media issue also too quiet imo. Herrera would be my choice.

5.) 13 Jun 2017 13:48:18
Herrera or de gea.

6.) 13 Jun 2017 13:48:26
Carrick I would imagine will become the club captain?

7.) 13 Jun 2017 14:38:00
I have a feeling that the stuff that annoys some about Herrera - the ref-chasing, play-acting etc. - might just disppear were he to be made captain. He's obviously the sort that takes his responsibilities seriously, cares about his teammates, and always seems to strive to be well thought of amongst fans and staff.

De Gea is also a good call, depending on how long he sees himself staying at the club. It would certainly be helpful if he were to take on a bigger leadership role this year, especially with a relatively inexperienced first choice central-defensive partnership in Bailly and Lindelof in front of him.

8.) 13 Jun 2017 14:52:36
Obviously, Fellaini for captain.

9.) 13 Jun 2017 18:23:40
De Gea. Captaincy didn't do Buffon any harm.

Ed, I think it was in the summer you mentioned that Forsberg was someone we had looked at, could he be added to the list above or have we moved on from him now also? Thanks for the info anyway Ed and correct me if I'm wrong about Forsberg, memory's a little hazy.

{Ed002's Note - Manchester United have watched Forsberg on a number of occasions, as have Arsenal, but I am not aware of any approach to his club or to Cetinkaya, who also represents Lindelof.}

Rose was just an example Ed, but yer Alaba would be the dream. I like where we are with our squad though, only a few changes needed to really boost us and hopefully be successful these next few years.

{Ed004's Note - 2 maybe 3 signings and I would give us a chance against anyone in the world}

07 Sep 2017 12:40:34
Ed, Griezmann and say Rose between now and next season and our first 11 is best in the league I recks.

{Ed004's Note - I don't rate Rose that highly and also think a right back would be needed. We might as well buy the best if we are only going for 2 signings though. So if we need to improve on Shaw I'd be looking at Sandro or Alaba. Also we don't know how Mensah will perform on loan. He was very good against France the other week}

Think left back is despo for us tbh, not sure if Shaw will ever really make it and we've been shoehorning people in there for the last few years. We do lack that X factor like you say, but Griezmann would of been that, but that got taken out of our hands. Hopefully we get another in before Thursday, preferably LB, but doubt it now. Still, a good window, if not an exciting one like last year.
