A couple of points

Firstly, it looked like Bruno saw his backside over where he was asked to play, on the left, so didn't try.

The Captain should be the epitome of the manager on the pitch. That didn't happen, I sense there needs to be a change of Captain.

Red Man - I think we’re past blaming bad defeats on individual players and should look to the collective instead.

My three favourite players Varane, Martinez and Casemiro all had shockers today.

For some reason the team completely lost its discipline in the second half both collectively and individually. The second half performance was littered with poor decisions and mistakes and collectively there didn’t seem to be the appetite to cover or work hard for each other. One mistake was compounded by anther as if a C.V. had enveloped the team.

Unlike previous seasons we still have a lot to play for. I don’t know what happened this afternoon but maybe this in one that we just have to let EtH analyse and wipe from the memory bank.

This team has responded well to several set backs this season. Let’s hope they can again. Let’s trust the manager to get a reaction.

A sobering afternoon at Anfield will soon be forgotten if we solidify our position in the top 4 and bring home more silverware come the end of the season.

In EtH we trust!

I turned it off at 3-0 so don’t really know what went on after that
He does my head in though moaning all the time and feigning injury. Sick of the players these days absolute cry babies.

It wasn’t just about individual players but the Captain, the leader failed miserably on the pitch. He can have a bad game but to fail to lead is unforgivable. When a team loses like that and the leader goes missing, we can’t just stick our heads in the sand. We will see what ETH does but he left him on to the very end when he really didn’t seem to want to know, perhaps it was punishment. We are all sore and defeats like that usually bring change.

Today was a shocker. The team must be tired, I literally can’t remember the last time the team had a weeks rest. It’s been weekend and a weekday game for a long time. Had echoes of the Brentford game, just need to get through to that international break.

In one way it was good, we can finally put the quadruple ideas that were bandied about to bed and just focus on finishing in the top 4.

I'm not sure why he's still playing the useless Weghorst at all and pushing our most creative player out wide.

It makes no sense. Weghorst does nothing, if you want a player just to run around like a chicken without a head, then there are 50 of them in the lower leagues we could have got in, and most will do a better job than Weghorst.

I think ETH got his tactics totally wrong today. Weghorst should not have featured and Sabitzer should have played to pack the midfield.

In addition, the choice of Dalot over AWB was wrong as we needed a right back who can defend.

Bad day in the office, but we move on.

Agreed, Bruno on left made no sense and I said so on live chat. Alexander Arnold would have been delighted not to have chased Rashford all afternoon. Still I don’t think a Captain can take his bat and ball home as he seemed to.

Re Weghorst you are correct, I made my thoughts on that purchase on here when we were linked, as usual told I was stupid. You may find certain posters still think he is good. Always play an additional midfielder against them.

Get through the present noise and win the next game.

Red Man - Bruno was poor, his attitude worse but the bloke has played nearly every minute of every game this season. It all unravelled yesterday but that can happen at Anfield. They blew us away in 5 second half minutes and we lost the plot.

I agree it was a strange decision to play Rashford through the middle especially up against Konate and VVD especially when the space is normally in behind their full backs. Maybe EtH thought Bruno would track Trent better. Even though I thought he got it wrong ironically it was Bruno and Rashford that both missed very presentable opportunities in the first half.

Weghorst is limited but there is little alternative. I think EtH has figured out he doesn’t have the pace or mobility to play up front so has dropped him a bit deeper as he obviously values his work rate.

I agree we needed an extra midfielder. I just wonder if we could have used Bruno as a false 9 yesterday and let him drift deeper off Konate and VVD and looked to play the ball for Rashford in the space often vacated by Trent. An extra midfielder like Sabitzer next to Fred and Casemiro would have made us harder to play against.

Collectively it was a bad day, I don’t think anyone came out of that game with any credit. Bruno’s antics were poor but so were many of his team mates.

Like I said in this instance I don’t think it helps to point the finger at individual players. Everyone was poor and equally culpable in my opinion. Those same players beat Barcelona and won a cup last week. Let’s keep calm and hope for a response.

I think you are correct, not singling anyone out for their performance, all were awful. My point is captaincy, or lack of it with what looked an awful attitude. That isn't tiredness, it runs alongside a whining moaning attitude. There will be tiredness, mental fatigue and I also pointed out a few weeks ago we were not resting anyone and was told on here to shut up and let the manager deal with that.

Win the next game, prove it was a one off. Learning curve for ETH as well but the Captaincy needs to be thought about after showing that attitude.

Hi DLIB, no one is pointing fingers at one individual, but the point Red Man was making is that our captain should not be showing his disappointment at being played wide. As I said in my post above, Bruno should be playing down the middle with rashford on the left and Sancho or Garnacho or Antony on the right. That would've allowed another midfielder instead of playing Weghorst who is one of the most bizarre signings United have ever made. We could've played a youngster and he would've been better.
We could've even dropped Weghorst and played Shaw and Malacia which would've kept Salah in check.
I think ETH got it totally wrong, but he doesn't do that very often, so, we move on.
Finally, watching Souness telling us that we've been lucky as we've only lost 2 in 25 games, made me nearly smash the tele. He forgot that Liverpool conceded 5 goals in 20 mins against Real Madrid 12 days ago. These things happen.

I watched til the bitter end and Bruno was a disgrace to the club, some captain, feigning injury, giving up, arms in air, basically looking over asking why he’s not being subbed. He’s got a long way to go to repay this performance yday and yeah wasn’t just him but his actions was baby like. All of them was poor, Shaw reverted back to type and I hear some saying, just 3 points, one of them, no, this could be very scarring, if ya not angry losing 7-0 to Liverpool there’s something up. We’ve a long way to go. Only positive of yday was the 20 mins spell we looked dangerous and that I’ve faith in the manager to get a reaction out of them.

Red Man/ AAA - I think we are all on the same page. I understand the point Red Man was making and we all know Bruno has that kind of petulance in his locker. It’s not the first time his antics have been criticised.

Maybe a debate on the captaincy is warranted but I think Bruno has captained the side pretty well over the last few months yesterday aside obviously.

The problem is I didn’t see the likes of Casemiro, Varane or Martinez provide the team with any decent leadership either yesterday who I suppose would all be candidates if Bruno was to be replaced. I completely agree Bruno’s performance and attitude was poor but was it any better from other senior players?!

Hopefully yesterday was just an anomaly. I’d normally be seething but I want this team to go out and win more trophies. The league title was never in question in my opinion so that can completely be put to bed now and with Spurs and Newcastle both losing this result hasn’t hurt us as much as it could have. Ok our pride has taken a battering but our season is still alive. As good as Liverpool have been over the last few years the best they can hope for now is top 4. We can still win a treble. I’m going to forgot about yesterday and let EtH conduct the post-mortem. We need a reaction on Thursday.

They were all disgraceful yesterday.
I turned it off at 3-0, i just couldn't watch any more of it.
What makes it even worse is i felt quite positive after the first half. We made the better chances and were never really in danger.
WOW. i still can't belief that it actually happened.

It is what it is, a really bad performance. Hurts that it's against Liverpool as a United fan but that's it.

We were never in the title race, we were never 2 players away from the finished article as its been suggested.

No one thought we would have done as well as we have this year, now one result however humiliating doesn't change all the positives but it might just be a reality check that we have a long way to go and several players will come and even more leave to we have a squad resembling what our manager wants.

Most of us thought we would have many ups and downs this year, we have probably had more ups and higher peaks than we thought, well here is a down to temper it.

Move on and smash Betis.
