Psg have now put in a bid and agreed personal terms with hojlund according to reports. Bid less than ours so should we be worried or is this just a tactic to get us to pay up and get the deal done?

{Ed002's Note - A tactic by......?

Our "bid" is more and apparently closer to what Atalanta want I doubt it's a tactic by Atalanta more psg making an offer, I expect it might give us the hurry up a little.

The psg offer seems low based on other reports and supposedly they don't want to go higher.

Have we made an actual offer ed or has it been more we've given an idea what we would pay in the process of a negotiation?

{Ed002's Note - I really don't know if a written offer has been made by Manchester United but I have repeatedly explained that there is interest from PSG. This is nothing new.}

No Problem thanks ed yeah that's why I said they have made an offer, most reports seem to say their offer is what they value the player at and they don't want to go higher, hopefully we get it done, he's a man united fan seems keen to join us.

{Ed002's Note - I would not trust reports saying that.}

No way psg bid that and then won’t go further, if they are interested they’ll push for sure.

My concern regarding Hojlund is the prospect of Mbappe leaving for free next year.

Now, this might not happen, but let's say Mbappe stays for the coming season despite making it abundantly clear that he won't stay beyond it. PSG will be looking for a striker with potential and could even offer a return on top of the fee of Hojlund being loaned back to Atalanta for the season. For Atalanta, this would be a win-win.

If PSG match any bid from United and Hojlund's interested, then this prospect would be troublesome.

Danny Ings anyone?

AJH

With respect, I think the concerns raised are perfectly valid.

I mean, since RVP and Rooney, United have made do with strikers who are either in the latter stages of their careers (Ibra, Cavani, Ronaldo), one-dimensional bluffers (Lukaku), or simply not remotely good enough on any level for a club with CL ambitions (Ighalo and Weghorst) .
Add Joel's bezzie Martial to the mix and it's clear to see why we're all a little on edge.

PSG are a legitimate threat to our chances of getting Hojlund.

If we sign Hojlund, i would not be expecting too much from him, he's in the early stages of his career and has a lot to learn. If we sign him i would exoect to see a lot of Rashy and Martial in the middle. It isn't that i think he ismt good or won't be develop, i just don't think he is a player who will come in and set the world alight, he is a signing made with the belief he can become a world class striker in a few yeara under Ten Hag.

I don't think he moves us closer to challenging this year despite reports and comments i have seen suggesting otherwise.

I think he is a however a potential piece of a challemge in three years time.

I font mind that.

Maybe Ten Hag wants him, maybe he wants someone else? All I know is that if Hojlund has accepted any terms with PSG, then in my humble opinion we should stay clear. I only want players who want to play for us 100%, not someone who will go to any club.

According to FR he's accepted terms with us. Not mentioned accepting with psg. They've bid, ours is higher. And his priority is us.

Erik wants him, get him in.

Might not hit the ground running but at his age who expects him to?

Done deal, apparently.

Really looking forward to watching him grow. At £60m the expectation will be for him to hit the ground running but we must temper that. 15 goals in all competitions next season would be a success, 20 the following…

I’m being greedy but he needs to share the CF position next season. Not with Rashford, not with the perennially injured Martial, but with a seasoned pro.

Taffy, the agent is doing his job to talk to interested teams and discuss terms. The lad can't be sure who if anyone will put in an acceptable bid to Atlanta and so is doing the right thing to explore his options. It doesn't mean he isn't committed to one club or another or is a red flag. I would imagine if we never signed a player whos agent or reps had spoken to and had a general agreement with teams there wouldn't be many signing other than thise on ridiculous terms that no one else would agree.

Thinking about it now, you over the last decade and maybe that was our tactic, would explain some of the decisions.

It's weird that PSG is offering less than Man Utd and they know the player prefers us (plus, personal terms already agreed) . This also doesn't help Atalanta, they can't say "Increase the bid or we sell to PSG".
