Saul Niquez on his twitter posting he will announce new club in three days.

1.) 31 May 2020 19:37:18
If this is true and not a windup, then reckon he’ll either stay at Athletico, or go to Juventus or PSG (though maybe too similar to Verrati perhaps? ) : United do t seem to have Pogba sorted yet and not sure if he’ll take the risk of City getting a Euro ban.

If he goes to Juventus, could mean Pofba’s most likely escape route blocked and he has to stay with United.

2.) 31 May 2020 22:09:06
Not sure many clubs, if any are going to spending big cash in the current climate.

3.) 31 May 2020 23:06:04
Well he’s recently followed Bruno, Pogba and man it’s foundation on Instagram. Utd move confirmed :’)

4.) 01 Jun 2020 04:47:10
I m sure that " club" will not be football related. just a tease. some horse riding, golf, charity club will it be. don't expect such high profile move to be confirmed like this during this time.

5.) 01 Jun 2020 15:50:17
Saul's Nightclub!

6.) 02 Jun 2020 20:32:22
I’ve seen a few things say it’s to do with an esports club.
We will know soon enougj!

I have a friend who worked with Shaw at Southampton. He says that Shaw is the thickest person he has ever met and that is the real problem with him. He says nothing ever clicks with him and he really doesn't get it.

Nice lad he says, but as thick as two short planks.

1.) 16 Jan 2020 11:41:30
He's a footballer! But to be at the bottom of the class in a class of idiots. >.

2.) 16 Jan 2020 21:43:30
Get fit - play better. Simple for him.

3.) 16 Jan 2020 22:11:50
i have heard exactly the same.

4.) 17 Jan 2020 21:44:54
so what? Rooney is as thick as they come and still had a pretty decent career with us.

Eds what are your thoughts on Kuis Enrique as a manager, I read something about Ronaldo wanting him, which I assume is justedia rubbish but then started thinking about and researching him and he seems well liked and highly rated by a lot of people.

Personally and I think I said this 2 years to 18 months ago is that for me the dream is VDS, Overmars and Ten Haag as a group to come in, I have no idea what we will end up with.

{Ed002's Note - I would doubt Luis Enrique would be considered.}

1.) 21 Nov 2021 14:23:18
Man need the ability to edit posts for spelling.

{Ed014's Note - send them to Shappy first, he’ll sort them for you.

2.) 21 Nov 2021 14:37:11
Ed, he said he wanted to spellchecker his posts, not quadruple his word count!

{Ed014's Note - good point! My bad ??

3.) 21 Nov 2021 15:40:05
I make at least four times the number of spelling/ grammar mistakes as any other poster on here. Although I probably also write at least four times as much as anyone else ?.

{Ed0666's Note - don’t worry about its happy I make the most errors pertaining to grammar, syntax, punctuation et al than any poster and editor on here and I’m meant to be an ‘editor’. I was useless at first, middle and high school and had a poor attitude and aptitude for learning. Was in the bottom sets for all my classes throughout all my school education but that didn’t stop me from having a short but enjoyable career as a journalist in my 30’s. To be fair if I wasn’t for the grammar, punctuation Syntax tools tools on the my faithful PC I would have been royally fuc*ed.

4.) 21 Nov 2021 20:04:13
Ed0666, I'm not worried about it, I've got a think skin and a thinker skull ?.

Sancho is having his medical, can't wait to see him at OT.

BBC has an interesting article on Dennis Bergkamp, who seems to be looking to get back into coaching (not head coach job according to him). I wouldn't mind seeing Dennis coming and replacing any one of our coaching staff.

1.) 01 Oct 2020 17:15:28
We need a coach who knows how to organise the back 4.

2.) 01 Oct 2020 17:32:11
No coach could substitute for lack of pace.

3.) 01 Oct 2020 18:05:35
Lack of pace is easy to mitigate. Sadly it has a big impact in style and tactics though.

4.) 04 Oct 2020 01:22:39
Footballing brain and reading of the game is the most important.
Good positioning can compensate for the lack of pace.

My take on the transfer window. We are rebuilding, we should only bring players in who we are confident will be part of a team that wins the league. In our three signings I see theee players who could be a part of this.

The rebuild was always going to take three or more seasons to be in a place to challenge for title.

A successful season for me isn't result based. It's about Ole implementing a style of play. It's about the coaching staff developing players to grow those who are going to be a part of that future into the players who are good enough to be in a title winning team.

Are players such as Greenwood and Garner good enough to develop then they need time and space and coaching to develop including game time.

Established first teamers such as Martial and Rashford need to continue to improve and if they are not good enough or not able to develop that's needs to be identified and they need to be moved on.

Players such as McTominey need to play and be developed to become the player that can be part of a title winning team.

We don't have a god give right to win titles. We have to earn that right which I accept means building a team which means developing our players and means identifying players who will be a part of that to bring in.

I am excited about this season not because I think we can win this year but because I hope to see the foundation being built for a team to challenge for a title in the future.

Even moving players out not good enough isn't going to happen in one window.

If we develop what we have, move on what will never be good enough and bring in 2-3 players a year then this team can in another two seasons be where we want it to be.

Success right now isn't about titles or champions league qualification it's about building blocks for the future and if we have achieved that this season it has been a success in my eyes.

I will reserve judgement on this until I have seen what transpires on the pitch this year.

1.) 10 Aug 2019 11:07:05
Rebuilding the defence is complete.
In the Next window we will fix the midfield by signing Bruno, Saul Niguez and Jadon Sancho.

2.) 10 Aug 2019 11:25:58
TRD, if we sign one of those player snext summer, well have done well and that's on the assumption we get champions league.

3.) 10 Aug 2019 11:26:19

Problem is that unless we make top four those players are very unlikely to come, so only fixing defence is short sighted.

4.) 10 Aug 2019 14:01:03
Arsenal fan? Liverpool fan?

5.) 11 Aug 2019 01:25:59
It might be a little premature to say the defence is fixed, those 5 players who look like a good unit on paper have not played a competitive game together yet 😊.

Watching Athletico playing a while back with my son, my dad and my grandad because nothing much else was on. The womenfolk had all gone out to see a show.
My grandad says See that boy there, he reminds me of Big Dunc, he was on about Saul.

My hero was always Robson and my grandad swears he wasnt even fit to lace Edwards boots. I seem to remember rumours that we could have had him a few years ago, lucky escape there.

1.) 28 Jul 2019 23:27:50
I’m 43 too! I remember Danny Wallace, Remi Moses and Russel Beardsmore, loved every minute. £2 entry into the stretford end, good times!
I’m also old enough to remember when you could (if your parents didn’t mind) watching when teams had 5 a side tournaments in the first division, ha.

Ed’s, and everyone else I love this site, entertainment, insight and especially the Ed’s quality information! How you put up with endless questions, more often than not the same question. It’s testament to the hard work, and I commend you.

{Ed0333's Note - Remi Moses was some player. Loved that guy.

2.) 29 Jul 2019 00:26:50
i am 55 older than both of you so ha.

3.) 29 Jul 2019 06:16:42
I’m of a similar vintage (as are many I’m sure) I have fond memories of watching United with Coppell one one side and Hill on the other. the good old days 😊.

4.) 29 Jul 2019 07:53:12
I grew up watching Coppell and Hill, I was Coppell my mate was Hill when we had a kick about. Gordon Hill is doing an evening with him at the Bishops Blaize round the corner from the ground in August.

5.) 29 Jul 2019 09:26:09
Cool, the good old days
Same for me I was Coppell when playing at school or at training and my mate (a United fan) on the left was Hill.

We were surrounded by Liverpool supporters though. Not good when they were at the top. We got there eventually though. I’d love to listen to Gordon won’t happen though as I’m in Australia 😞😁.

6.) 29 Jul 2019 16:27:20
I never thought Remi quite reached his full potential at United. I always thought he should of gone on to be a truly world class player. He was a beast in midfield though. A bit more suited to today's style of play, pressing and breaking up play maybe.
I'd always hoped we'd get Statham from WBA as well. Great player.
Still, we had Albiston, who was my hero back then. Always gave 100%.

{Ed0333's Note - if Moses’ career wasn’t blighted by serious injuries he would have been a club legend. He was a combatant yet silky midfielder the only thing that stopped his star shining was the injuries. I just remembered he was Manchester born also.

7.) 29 Jul 2019 18:00:32
Anyone remembers Cloughie quote when Moses signed for half a million. He said that for less he could have the original moses and the tablets :)

Can't understand the obsession with De Jong I don't think he is that good.

I think he is a product of the Ajax system and is suited to that system in a team full of players versed in that system.

I don't know whether EtH 'knows best' as Ken is fond of saying but I would wager he knows a damn sight more than Ole did!

I would not put any weight on most of what is said in interviews and certainly not try and interpretation the words with football managers most of them are very experienced with the press.

10 of 11 here next year is correct they are under contract he isn't going to say anything else.

I am sure he is fully aware EtH is here, feigning surprise was his way of avoiding questions about EtH. The rags and websites had said multiple times he would be. There is a media team who will brief him on stuff before he gets to the press. Its been pointed out to me before that a media person often speaks with manager straight away after a game before press get near. This happens in many sports, I even watched the 49ers media guy get involved in a fight between two head coaches and their players before and he explained that his job was to get and brief the HC before and media interactions.

I am sure that he has EtH number anyway, both are managers and involved in football many years, it's probably quite a close network, there is always stories in books told of managers phoning one another when they get jobs etc or to discuss things.
