Caolan,
Yes I am an LFC but I visit this site a lot because I find a lot of the posters interesting.

Interesting comparison with Rodgers, but he did improve LFC and came so close to the title (bar that slip! ) and then we lost the heart of the team. Gerrard (too old), Suarez, Sturridge (was never the same again due to injuries) who were not adequately replaced.

There was not quite the underlying structural and player behavioral issues that you seem to have atm.

As others have said you must have optimism, but it's going to be really interesting to see what another manager can do (where 3 quality managers have failed) with largely the same group of players.

I wish you guys good luck (but not too much) with whomever the next guy may be.

Good post, i agree with what you have put.

The Man Utd job has become a poisoned chalice, much like the Endland managers job once was.

The club will only become successful again if they sort the structure out etc. UTD really. do need to get rid of quite a few problematic players this summer. It might be best for no European football and for the club. Then Start from scratch.

Then I think Poch is the logical answer.

There were plenty of issues at liverpool, remember the recruitment when Suarez left mate? At that time you could have argued he was on a par with Messi and Ronaldo as he almost took you to the title despite Rodgers, not because of Rodgers.

You guys got it right by getting klopp in, giving him the time he needed because like all managers initially he had a few rocky spells, nothing disastrous or anything. We need to learn from that. You guys identified klopp and backed him. That faith is being repaid.

Our next manager needs time, there’s going to be a major overhaul across the next 2-3 windows and if he’s backed with the tools he thinks he needs then and we as fans need to give him time.

Calon

There is a slight difference, Unlike your club, LFC did not have the resources to back any manager. Klopp's first target was to get into Europe before he could splash. Klopp was given time because he made sure the team was in CL and revenue was coming.
You have no such issues as money was never a problem. you wasted it.
You had a golden chance to hire both Klopp and Pep and you simply stood there doing nothing.

Klopp has been backed mate, he was allowed to move on players he felt needed to go and bring in players for his style. Backing a manager isn't always about £££.

You need to be afforded time, you need the confidence that everyone knows you are the man in charge. Klopp has it. United haven't given any manager that. I hope with a bit of change off the pitch that can happen for the next manager, but like we saw with Mourinho and LvG it was a constant struggle to get what they wanted/ needed due to negligence from the suits above.

Klopp inherited a team of Borini's and Lamberts adding Balotelli into the mix. His greatest contribution was to move Roberto firmino into the false number 9 role. then he signed Sadio Mane (Again you were heavily linked) to provide the pace. He had a small squad to play with and the target was set. Champions league football.
He also made sure the players worked incredibly hard, None of your players would pass two training sessions under Klopp or Pep.

Ron, are you insecure or something? I am not comparing the two sides or anything. I am saying we need to buy into someone the way you bought into Klopp. We need to back the next man and look at the rebuild Klopp did as a bit of a guide

Our owners view players as financial assets, whereas yours allowed your manager to make the necessary arrangements.

Looks like he’s having an argument in a phone box with himself. Clearly we all think Klopp has done an awesome job. But as the OP clearly states, he’s been backed with the players he wants, and equally as important the ones he doesn’t want! We have not had that. Pogba, Martial, Lingard etc all still here and all should have been sold.

Agreed but to be fair I did say they were not adequately replaced.

Its tough because as you said you need to give the next guy time, but time is hard to get these days. Maybe Moyes was the right choice if given time, he cetainly is going really well at WHU.

Agreed also on Klopp, he took time to get things right and I guess we could have got rid of him after a couple of years?

What happens in 2 years time if your next guy improves the team but you are still 15 points off winning the league. Do you stick or twist?

Otts it depends on what progress has been made. Is the football good? Is there a clear philosophy? Age profile of the squad etc. If 2 years in we have no defined style of play, no clear type of player that we would recruit then questions would be asked. By type of player, the way I look at it is, from the second you see Luis Diaz, you know that is a player who would thrive in Klopp's system.

Time in my opinion can only be granted by us as fans. If there is no unrest and everyone still believes in what the manager is doing then time should be afforded.
