A few things following last nights game.
I think that may be the last we have seen of Van De Beek, we have seen nothing in any of the opportunities he has had (you could argue he has not had a run of games to settle) and the manager who he performed under at Ajax appears to have come to the same conclusion as previous managers.

I am sure in a new team, new league he could be a good player so we need to look at moving him on in January to free up a place and salary. ideally sell but likely loan with option to buy. If he goes we will be missing nothing from his spot.

Similarly I think we are coming to the end of the Ronaldo situation with 3 more games before the World Cup. He is getting opportunities but even when the old Ronaldo would have been clinical and score he is missing. even the Ronaldo of last year would have performed. We need to find a solution for both parties for the second half of the year which likely would be a loan (no one is going to pay a fee and his salary) or otherwise pay him up and release him. The team play better without him, he is not even getting the late goals that would paper over his overall performances. It is sad to say but we need to move on.

Garnacho has the potential to get game time as the season goes on. Depending on who plays up front there is an argument that he suits the left wing against certain teams vs Sancho. Hopefully he can kick on and the lift he will get from scoring his first goal, even more so that it was set up by his idol Ronaldo. could you feel any better as a young player.

We need to be sensible and not over do it but he looks like a player that will save us having to bring in a left winger regardless of how Sancho goes in the next year.

So after one game where he started, and was completely ignored by his teammates over and over again, to you it means he's shown nothing. Over the past two seasons he's been hardly given a run of games but you see that as his fault. Players need time to adjust to play a few games in a row it doesn't happen magically.

Obviously you haven't played the game or you would know that. Every time we play with Ronaldo it goes something like this. The other players pass it to bruno who rushes to make a cross or long pass to Ronaldo or else Ronaldo throws a fit or starts crying. Donny plays in a team system give and go, making dummy runs, never gives it away.

Once we become a better possession team Donny will shine I have no doubt. He gets the game, he's technically very good, so I'm not willing to write him off. Especially since somehow people still have support for fred when he's played full seasons and he's been dreadful.

Donny has shown nothing. Stop making excuses for the guy. First step to him playing better even is to realise that he is not taking his chances and is not finding a way to do anything in the game.

Lingard's best traight used to be to run out of the way and hope he takes a marker with him. Simply not good enough for a number 10 at utd.

It could be a clash of styles, in which case everyone should tap out and find a better spot for him.

While I agree that Donny hasn't done enough, and that Ronaldo looks past his best. I don't think we should let any players go in January unless there is a replacement coming in at the same time.

Simply after the world cup we have too many games to be reducing the size of the squad.

We will have to play 2 games a week for FIVE months and even then we still don't have enough time to fit all the games in with no space for the two postponed EPL games.

We are almost in the position of having to get knocked out of a domestic cup early just to have any chance of fitting in our league games.

Against Real Sociedad we had Vitek, Iqbal, Pellistri, Elanga and Shoretire on the bench with Garnacho starting all due to injuries.

That's after just 18 matches. We have another 26 league matches, as well as cup games in the FA cup, EFL and EL. Most of which are after a world cup where our players will have to do lots of traveling and playing/ training in extreme temperatures.

There will almost certainly be significantly more injuries due to fatigue this season than any other.

We cannot afford to be reducing the size of our squad.

Nice of you to lecture Db. Why can't someone make excuses for dvb?
You made excuses for ole for 3 years. And told us you were entitled to your opinion.
Is this poster not entitled to his opinion?

Haha, fait play Ken, although you also are walking on thin ice with your stance here.

I'm just tired of the view that Donny being the answer. We have been playing better and strangely the Donny calls are growing again.

Since he has joined he has shown very very little, but we get this call for him to get a run of games. I would rather see Iqbal get a chance ahead of him right now, even savage in the Eriksen role.

But to clarify, this is only MY opinion and everyone is entitled to their own of course.

Do you think Donny should see more game time Ken?

That's not up to me DB the manager makes those decisions.
He has been very disappointing so far but has not had a run of games.
Hard to judge anybody on the chances he's has but he had not done enough in training to aren't more chances perhaps.
I'm fairly neutral to be honest. I think he is better technically than both mctom and Fred so if he played as many as either of them I'd say he would be no worse than them.

I'm with Dodgy. No one can tell us that DVB has done anything during the games he's played. Good players find the ball and affect the course of games, DVB has shown no attributes at all. Let's not forget he had a loan spell at Everton and he didn't exactly shine over there.
We have lots of young talent who should be given the chance before DVB. He's not suddenly going to turn into Paul Scholes. He simply isn't good enough for this league.
