Rumours of Auba to Utd. No idea if this is now just crazy time due to lack of content. But I have to say, that would be an excellent signing for us. Last year with Arsenal, so they may be tempted to cash in. Almost has the feels of an RVP but he's not quite so deep into his career.

He would be an upgrade on Martial as a 9. Scores goals for fun. What do you all think, would you take him?

Rumours started last summer when Andy Goldstein from talksport said he was told Utd were in for him so maybe there is something in it who knows. Good player though wish he wasnt as old as he is.

2.) 22 Mar 2020 10:54:42
I think we're done buying older players on high wages. He's a fantastic player but you'd imagine he'd demand Sanchez type salary. Just doesn't seem to go along with Solskjaer's plan.

3.) 22 Mar 2020 12:02:02
I'd prefer lacazette to be honest. Although he's seemed a bit off this season.

4.) 23 Mar 2020 11:10:01
I would rather save the money and buy ighalo and spend the big money on right wing, cm, pogba replacement and pacey centre back.

5.) 23 Mar 2020 12:03:35
Thanks for replies guys. I think that Auba allows us to play how we have been playing, direct and very dangerous on the break, but hs also makes runs in the 6 yard area like a striker. He can score headers with more consistency. Depending on fee he could be interesting. Not for silly money either in transfer or wages.

6.) 26 Mar 2020 16:05:39
who is Auba?

Are City the only team to have managed to keep the same average attendance inspite of the C.V. restrictions?

Looking like they win the league today. They have clearly been the best team all season. I always thought they would struggle if they lost aguero to injury. Pep managed to find a way to be even more devastating playing with a false 9 and more solidity in midfield.

Well done city, as much as it pains me to say.

{Ed014's Note - nice post DB and no one could really argue.

1.) 08 May 2021 19:44:16
City have been the best side but I don't think they're better than previous seasons. They've had a clear run at the league since we conceded it in January. They havnt had pressure put on them at all. Which makes it a frustrating season. They may win the league with 85 points. Ken said at the start of the season we should be getting above 80 points and I agreed.

I would have liked to see them pushed a bit further because I don't think incarnation of City of better than previous ones.

2.) 08 May 2021 19:46:39
We're still in it๐Ÿ‘.

3.) 08 May 2021 20:07:09
Today i watched City - chelski, Spurs vs Leeds, RB vs Dortmund and Barcelona vs Atletico. Either the footy overdose is blurring my thoughts but EPL referees are by far the worst of the lot. When it comes to big decisions in a game it s like playing roulette.
Which is a pity considering the amounts of funds invested in the game. I still can't believe that there aren't better officials than the Atwells and Pausons of this world.

4.) 08 May 2021 21:37:55
Mumbles despite their lead and cl final i agree. We'll there are not as fluid or easy on the eye. But they are more sturdy and efficient.
Better at the back. Still a great watch imo. Superbly well filled and coached by the best in the business at the moment imo.

5.) 09 May 2021 08:15:34
Does pep stay if they lose to chelsea in the champions league?
Pep would only want to win 1 trophy and that is the champions league. He's failed to do so in years with Bayern and city.

6.) 09 May 2021 09:06:23
By that logic if Pep wins the CL the CL he will be off, silver lining and all that.

{Ed014's Note - why would he leave, whereโ€™s a better place to be than City?

Racial abuse is becoming more and more prominent in football. At least it is a hot topic and being reported more - maybe it was always there.

How long until the ceremonial kneeling that has now made everyone feel they are taking "some action" against this disease needs to become something more tangible, like striking. I really feel that we are not far away from players on a big game day from deciding amongst themselves to walk off in a flash strike. Imagine the impact, massive game everyone kneels, then all players walk off leaving the commentators to try to explain what just happened. The gesture of kneeling has completely lost it's message.

The power lies with the top social media providers to make it harder, or impossible, for people to have untraceable accounts and hide behind them. I can't even understand why they are able to.

2.) 18 Feb 2021 13:33:55
Spenno, it's because many people around the world don't have a valid i'd and are unable to obtain one. If social media platforms are to require i'd it will cut off millions of people and further favour the so called "privileged".

Also I don't think silencing the racists is a long term solution. A lot more needs to be done to educate people and stop this at its source so that the next generation aren't brought up in a world where such nastiness exists.

3.) 18 Feb 2021 14:56:07
Surely with these absolutely massive social media companies having the top end algorithms, artificial intelligence and machine learning tools, it wouldn't be too difficult to put in a filter which prevents messages with racial abuse in them from being posted or seen by player targeted.

For example and i know they're not all like that i saw the abuse that Axel Tuanzebe received and it was literally a long string of monkey emojis. Surely some algorithm can be used which flags that as racial abuse and the message gets destroyed or held back.

4.) 18 Feb 2021 15:39:05
It's a reflection of the deep divides within society currently. People are angry, confused and looking for people to blame, or just looking to feel good about themselves by elevating themselves above another group by putting that group down.

It doesn't matter what the divide is, gender, race, class, age, or political view point. At some point over the past 12 months the media have targeted one group or another. How many stories have we seen about "immigrants", "gender rights", "people on benefits", "youngsters", "Brexiters" or "Remainers", and how many of these articles are written in a positive manner?

It's always doom and gloom, the younger generation are ruining the country, or its immigrants, or benefit cheats, or LGBTQ.

The media run story after story blaming each group for all the wrongs in society. Then people are surprised when tensions form between groups of people.

When it comes to these social problems being seen in football it can be hard to tell if its life imitating art or art imitating life. I don't for one second believe football is a driver behind racism, it is one of the most inclusive sports in the world. The issue is that it attracts a lot of attention and not everyone who enjoys and follows football has the capacity or intelligence or are self aware enough to understand their actions and thoughts.

Their displaced anger at life and their current situations often lead to them to lashing out and people's skin tone is an easy target.

In terms of combating it, education, education, education. That is the only way to tackle the issue long term. You need to educate as many people as possible to as high a level as they can achieve.

While social media has to step up, if they can sensor a Presidents tweets then they can filter out criminal acts such as racial abuse if they want to. This sort of language and thoughts have no place in society and social media needs to take a stand.

The rest of us just need to make sure we are as respectful as we can be to each other, remember that our children will follow our example far more closely than they will follow our direction. Teaching your children about what is and isn't acceptable extends to being the example for them. Educate them, and anyone else you can, as best you can.

5.) 18 Feb 2021 20:50:14
Verified accounts and AI blocking racism.
Pretty easy imo.

6.) 18 Feb 2021 21:15:34
The players can do so much but ultimately when it comes to racist abuse in the grounds at matches the supporters have got to show the moral strength and point out the culprits to ground staff.

Then provided proven guilty maybe before each match a photo montage with names of racists could be shown on the big screen. Shame them and ban them for life from every football ground. All ticket holders should be easily tracked down to their address in this computer age.

As regards social media abuse the government has to pass laws to make the platforms like twitter instagram etc take proactive steps to trace the culprits. Also if the likes of google can spend millions developing algorithms allowing the public to be targeted to specific adverts to encourage spending on certain items then they should be compelled to devote more resources to weed out this rubbish and filth polluting the internet. Maybe a compulsory tax or a fine for every racist comment with fines increasing for each new post? A lot of liberals will bleat about it but affirmative action needs to be taken.

The long term solution though is to educate our children better and to make racism or discrimination of any form which is malicious to be as socially unacceptable as drink driving is now. It is impossible to eradicate but we all have a duty to do better and reduce it to the least possible.

7.) 18 Feb 2021 23:19:51
These **** should be fined or put in prison. Everyone should be able to do their job without fear of receiving hateful abuse; racist or otherwise.

03 Feb 2021 12:40:26
Apologies to Red man. I re-read your post and honestly I have no idea why I called you out for something you didn't write. I think I must have been hallucinating due to over work. ๐Ÿ™

Not seen on here, so thought I would post. Is Diaz the latest great player that got away from us? What a strong and composed defended he looks at the back for city. I know there was interest, but we lost out to city. He is exactly what we need at the back with mcguire.

DodgyBanter

1.) 03 Feb 2021 12:45:29
Diaz is a leader. Never stops talking and organizing.

2.) 03 Feb 2021 12:53:14
Ruben Dias has looked excellent for City this season, solid, simple defending, while also being good on the ball.

However, I think the way Stones has stepped up this season has been fantastic. Toward the end of last season he looked destined for the exit door, his bubble had burst and he simply didn't look good enough. Yet this season he is keeping Laporte out of the team, who up until this season looked comfortably City's best defender, and arguably only the second best defender in the league behind VvD.

I do think City switching from a single to a double pivot in midfield has made a big difference though. That extra body shielding the defence means they are tested less than they have been in previous years.

3.) 03 Feb 2021 12:54:38
Just think if we had added Van Dijk rather than Lindelof or supported Mourinhoโ€™s interest in Dias. All water under the bridge now but agree theyโ€™re quality players.

4.) 03 Feb 2021 15:23:39
Yeah to think we could have a CB pairing of Dias and VvD is absolutely heart breaking. If only we were a well run club.

{Ed047's Note - it did make me laugh earlier in the season when United fans were dismissing that as poor defensively.

They have been immense and always looked like they would be with Dias.

Forget all the squabbles. Put aside the differences. This is game day against one of our old EPL rivals. There used to be such a buzz around this game. Keano and Viera. Keown and Van Nistleroy. Rooney, Bergkamp, Ronaldo, Park. that delightful dink from John - I can play anywhere -O'Shea.

This is it. Set back in the week will be forgiven if the team turns up today and puts Aresenal to the sword. The media are loving it, making arsenal favourites. The stage is set and now it is time for every single player to go out there and fight for 96 mins and then some. I just wish keano was in there to lead the team out in the tunnel ๐Ÿคฃ.

Feck me Dodgy. You got me swinging from the lamp shade, beating my chest.

You up for giving the team talk later?

3.) 30 Jan 2021 16:07:21
Hehe, this game has dropped down the pecking order a little in recent years. But something about today has got my blood pumping ๐Ÿคฃ.

4.) 30 Jan 2021 16:27:26
Just hope it lives up to the hype, unlike the City and Looserpool games.

5.) 30 Jan 2021 19:54:52
Wish you were playing DB because there was not much blood pumping through the players veins.

DDG has improved this year due to Henderson. Ddg is still an excellent keeper. Henderson is the future. Sure Henderson will get game time and he needs to keep showing the mentality to play at a big club. He will be alright, don't worry about that.

The gap is huge, one is on the pitch training and playing, the other is on the treatment table. His injuries ruined any chance he had, just never got a good full season.

Cavani missed 2 sitters in the first half. One where he lobbed keeper onto bar, one where he blasted the ball at the keepers face. They were better than any of the scrappy chances roma created.

It was a dead game and roma were playing for pride.

I think that Roma attack is pretty good when it clicks WRD. It was almost as if that roma have been assembled to be out bogey team. Well it didn't work, so maybe they will have to go for one of our ex managers.

We should have scored 3 in the first half, we had easily the best chances early. Cavini missed 2 gilt edge chances. Second half they rode their luck a bit.

Anyone wondering why fred and McTom play, it was clear tonight. So open.

But a final to look forward to, and a solid finish in league.

MUST has sent "demands" listing what they want.

Much of it centers around open communication between the owners and the supporters group. Apparently they have not had one conversation with the group -very reasonable request

Also appointment of non exec directors to the board, who have the best interests of the club at heart. -not sure how you choose such people, but again, seems very reasonable. Many large corporations that lose the trust of key stakeholders are encouraged to appoint NEDs for a more balanced corporate approach.

There was also something about making shares available to fans with equal voting rights as the glazers, even reducing their rights to that of a minority. -that is far more challenging to see why they would do that.

Kind of agree Redman.

Maybe the best way to remove dooshbags from the board room is to send the dooshbags into the ground ๐Ÿ˜‚

Of all the games to protest, Liverpool Utd was the right one. Board sets of owners should be the ones who are embarrassed. Just hope there is no one hurt from the spectacle.

Ole is doing a great job, and Klopp is recognizing that. Funny how people in the game seem to recognize what he is doing but on here he is cast as a pantomime villain.

He is not the messiah, or what ever else people want to throw at those that support him.

He understands the club, from top to bottom (at least on the playing side) and has quietly gone about getting the club back to what is was when it was winning.

The flack he gets on here for playing a double pivot with Fred and McTom is relentless. He is accused of being boring, not wanting to win, destroying the tradition of the club. Yet mid week we destroyed Roma in a semi final playing this way, with exciting attacking football.

To still talk about the guy in terms of his cv now is quite frankly ridiculous. He is doing it, in the job, and is the best of the rest after a superb season from city.

What he needs is supporting, properly supporting and let's see if he can challenge next year for the title. If we hold back, and half support him - that might mean the club don't back him for what he wants to improve in the summer.

I'm not convinced we need limitless spending. But give the guy what he wants in terms of additions within a set budget and let's see what he's got.

If he fails again in the UCL group stages, then maybe we decide he just hasn't got that extra 5% it takes to be elite. If he's way off in the league then maybe it is time to say the same. But after this season? Not for me.
