Rumours of Auba to Utd. No idea if this is now just crazy time due to lack of content. But I have to say, that would be an excellent signing for us. Last year with Arsenal, so they may be tempted to cash in. Almost has the feels of an RVP but he's not quite so deep into his career.

He would be an upgrade on Martial as a 9. Scores goals for fun. What do you all think, would you take him?

Rumours started last summer when Andy Goldstein from talksport said he was told Utd were in for him so maybe there is something in it who knows. Good player though wish he wasnt as old as he is.

2.) 22 Mar 2020 10:54:42
I think we're done buying older players on high wages. He's a fantastic player but you'd imagine he'd demand Sanchez type salary. Just doesn't seem to go along with Solskjaer's plan.

3.) 22 Mar 2020 12:02:02
I'd prefer lacazette to be honest. Although he's seemed a bit off this season.

4.) 23 Mar 2020 11:10:01
I would rather save the money and buy ighalo and spend the big money on right wing, cm, pogba replacement and pacey centre back.

5.) 23 Mar 2020 12:03:35
Thanks for replies guys. I think that Auba allows us to play how we have been playing, direct and very dangerous on the break, but hs also makes runs in the 6 yard area like a striker. He can score headers with more consistency. Depending on fee he could be interesting. Not for silly money either in transfer or wages.

6.) 26 Mar 2020 16:05:39
who is Auba?

What a big win that was. Ward-Prouse is always dangerous, and it was a toss up between him and their keeper who was best player for them in first half.

Great to see cavani showing how a proper striker makes things happen.

The spirit of the team was what got me excited though, like watching a proper utd team. Very happy tonight.

Really. I thought their keeper was pretty terrible today and very nearly gifted us a goal. Were it not for some poor finishing he would have done. Everything he saved was straight down his throat. His distribution has looked a bit suspect every time I’ve seen him play too.

WP’s deliveries were fantastic, but he offered very little from open play and got caught on the ball quite a few times. By no means a bad performance, but without his ability from set pieces he’d be a band average player.

Djenepo was better than the pair of them in the first half and caused AWB all sorts of problems, but it was Adams who was their stand out performer by a mile. He won just about every duel and never seemed to give up on the press. He was unlucky not to come away with a goal and to come away on the losing side.

Southampton are a much better side than people give them credit for.

At times this season people actually suggested we might get relegated.

After a poor start with a much changed team this squad has put together a very good recovery. In the end, 3rd place behind these Liverpool and City squads is no big embarrassment.

Both Man Utd and City are in rebuilding mode. Both have gone with young former player coaches and younger teams. Remains to be seen if this will be a successful model - bit I am enjoying the ride.

Always confused by the third place trophy comments, this was the best we could do today, and we did it. Would love to add a UEFA trophy to put a cherry on the season, but even without that, I am excited by the future.

Thanks to all the Ed's in this crazy year.

Great to be back in cl.
I hope the manager gets his core targets.
On to the EL which now is hugely important. 3rd in league is a good improvement and deserved on 2nd half of the season.
Winning the EL makes it a successful season. 4 more games.
Get some signings done very a few players out and hope for further improvement next season. Winning the EL will help this team grow and could help accelerate their progress.

Match day, Man Utd squad have something to prove. First requirement is that everyone shows up, plays hard and committed and earns the right to play football.

We need to start fast paced and turn some chances into goals. These games are completely different when we score early. Hope the squad recognize that they will be judged on what they do today more than their wins against Spurs and City.

Just tuned in to the footy and all I hear is your fans singing about scousers. It’s good to know we’re constantly on your minds 😂👍🏼
Merry Christmas.

2.) 22 Dec 2019 15:59:13
Not one player showed up. Shocking performance.

3.) 22 Dec 2019 17:43:15
Liver_La, this close to Xmas we have to think of the poor and needy. I think you should commend us signing songs to support the scousers at this time.

4.) 22 Dec 2019 18:04:30
Seagull. You’re clearly not from Manchester with that comment, talk the walk from Piccadilly to St Anne’s square and you’ll get my drift.

5.) 22 Dec 2019 20:17:06
Now now children it’s Christmas.

What a difference a round of games make. Jumped 3 places to 6th after one of the worst starts to a season we've had in many a year.

Looking forward to the game at the weekend, very tough test against one of the best teams in europe. But this city team is more vulnerable than the team we played last year.

No doubt we will be put under a lot of pressure. But if we can get a couple of goals, which is entirely possible, maybe we can come away with something from the game.

Ole was on the brink. 4 points or more from these two games is a very good return. I would be very happy to see the rebuild process continue and play out. We have been better than results have shown. I expect a stronger season from here on in.

Few weeks ago we were getting relegated! January will be key for us, but let’s hope there’s no signings for the sake of it and we get players we need/ want.

2.) 06 Dec 2019 12:59:44
Caolan,

Don’t say things like that, Ole is taking us down and everyone can see it 🙄.

Top 10 goals by Nani on Man Utd social media today. He scored some absolute corkers, what a player he was. In the end his inconsistency frustrated fans, but on his day he was almost unplayable. Well worth watching his top 10 if you have time.

DodgyBanter

1.) 18 Nov 2019 07:16:09
Yeah. Scorer of great goals.

2.) 18 Nov 2019 20:03:48
I remember finding him infuriating, but he was also a victim of the incredible high standards we had at the time. I read the other day that in the 2010/ 11 season he got 14 league assists, more than any other player in the league that year.

3.) 18 Nov 2019 20:42:16
I really liked Nani. However, consistency was always his problem. It was the range in performances he would give. You never knew before kick off whether he was going to be a 9 or a 5 out of 10 that game.

When on form he was unplayable and I would honestly take peak Nani over peak Hazard just for the joy he used to play with when on form.

His Micky taking out of Arsenal still ranks as one of my favourite moments.

He looked like he was going to kick on from the 10/ 11 season. But sadly he got injured the following season and he never quite got back to that form. Once Moyes came in it was writing on the wall time which is a shame as I feel he could have contributed more than other players managed in the post Sir Alex era.

He won't go down as a legend, but maybe as a cult hero for some of us.

4.) 18 Nov 2019 21:02:25
Nani over hazzard 😂😂😂😂😂😂.

5.) 19 Nov 2019 15:55:45
Hazard any day for me. Nani was just a show off and only woke up once in 10 games.

Even on Hazzards bad he was ahead of Nani in terms of what he used to do for the team.

Do we really have to keep taking about Shappy's bias? Feels like an episode of Jerry Springer.

DDG has improved this year due to Henderson. Ddg is still an excellent keeper. Henderson is the future. Sure Henderson will get game time and he needs to keep showing the mentality to play at a big club. He will be alright, don't worry about that.

The gap is huge, one is on the pitch training and playing, the other is on the treatment table. His injuries ruined any chance he had, just never got a good full season.

So we need to sign a pit pony and find a right winger who resembles his mother's brother. Come on Ed, get your cheque book out. Lol.

Yeah I thought that when I read schmeichel GDS! Good post though Shappy. When you stop and think they have some great players either developed from youth or bought in young before they have the big price tag.

They bought Harvey barnes from shef utd didn't they? Or was he on loan?

DodgyBanter

{Ed047's Note - he’s always been at Leicester, just out on loan a few times, WBA the last one

Of course we can look back at all our losses and say what ifs.

We should have won against Liverpool. Pogba and Fernandes has good chances. Pogbas was a proverbial sitter. Rashford made a poor choice and should have played cavani in.

You say why didn't we smell blood, but we did show up in the second half, and that was due to the midfield imposing itself of the game a bit more.

The first half Liverpool dominated the ball. Playing two cms at CB really worked for them, and they played like city or Barcelona. You speak as if Ole sent them out to get pushed back and surrender possession so easily. Did you consider that it was Liverpool who played well and forced us back?

Finally, the guys on the bench have not been setting the world alight when they come on. I agree greenwood could have come earlier, he could have come for rashford - but one of rash and Fernandes needed to come off, they looked shattered. He went with Fernandes. The DvdB calls are very loud, but he is also not a player to play that incisive killer breakaway pass when the game breaks down. Maybe mata would have been a shout for rashford - but then think if the loss of pace. It wasn't so crazy from the manager. We didn't take our chances in a hard fought game.

So just to get this clear in my mind. Ole is useless. Rashford and Fernandes are awful. McGuire and Lindelof can't play together. Fred and McTom a joke. And inspite of all this ineptitude Utd sit top of the table. Yes city can win their games and take over top spot, but we are top.

Imagine we go on to win the league and we look back and read some of these posts. Sometimes it is just embarassing.
