Only saw the first 30mins, the disallowed goal was joke, but that's happening us now, we must just push through. It just likes our defence just blocks the ball or just sends it back up the pitch, our midfield is trying to play the perfect long ball for runners. The top teams don't do that. Their defences control the ball, have passing options, play those simple passes quickly and accurately, all around players make themselves available for the pass and progress the ball. We don't have enough of those players in our team, but we just need to keep fighting and battling through. I do think if and when Sir Jim gets control we will see more young players on the pitch and an end to buying older ones on huge wages who a short 1 year fix. I really think if we can get thd older players out and the youth in ETH can really get his message and style across, but will we ever see that?,

That disallowed goal needs discussing more. I thought it was a joke of a decision. The pundits seem to disagree with me so maybe I’m biased. They mentioned it being a subjective offside. Then you see that Newcastle goal and you wonder what “clear and obvious” even means.

I still don't get how McTominay's goal was ruled out for Maguire offside when it was Garnacho who received the ball. VAR is a joke.

Maguire became active because his action of moving towards the ball affected the defender that was marking him, as soon as he affects the defender he is deemed active so the decision was correct.

Our first choice back 4 hasn’t played all season - Martinez, by far the best ball playing defender we have, isn’t available, and our second best Varane is a perma crock. Shaw, albeit not our best player, is by far our best left back, is out for awhile, and what I consider our first choice RB in AWB only just returned today. We also have a brand new keeper this season learning the ropes of the team and the EPL (which he will as he is a class act) .

No wonder we can’t build foundations from the back.

{Ed077's Note - I'll admit that I'm no expert on Andre Onana but I've yet to see any signs of him being a "class act".}

I think with the right back 4 we will see how good and influential he can be. I think with shaw and martinez we would be different team, both very good on the ball and good distribution.

He was outstanding against city in the cl final where they almost stopped pressing as it was causing them problems of being caught out of position.

One thing I will say when he blocks shots, they go back in an area where its not ideal and dangerous. Needs to do better on those.

{Ed077's Note - yeah he pushes shots back into danger. And his positioning is suspect at best, imo. He is good on the ball but he's not shown himself to be a good Keeper yet (for us)}

I hope Martinez comes back better than before he got injured. He wasn't great. Maybe he wasn't fully fit from the previous injury but he will need to be better.
