Hi Eds can I ask if United are still looking at Sarr or Brooks while the domestic window is still open, or will that be it for this summer?

{Ed002's Note - I would think it unlikely.}

1.) 10 Oct 2020 12:12:17
Thanks for the quick reply Ed, have a good weekend.

{Ed002's Note - And you.}

2.) 10 Oct 2020 13:55:36
Where would they play or even play? We have signed two wingers. With Cavani, martial and Rashford can play on the wings aswell.

ED002, I take Ighalo will leave and go back to China in January?

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any other option at this tiem - he could be offered to MU at a vey low price.}

3.) 10 Oct 2020 19:07:07
Which wingers MH? Are you talking about the kiddies who have signed for the U23s?

4.) 12 Oct 2020 09:14:16

Yea I am. At the end of the day those youngsters will be out future, well hopefully. Sarr is if a similar age to those youngsters.

04 Oct 2020 12:29:16
An improved offer for Telles has gone in according to Sly.

1.) 04 Oct 2020 12:55:46
And rejected.

2.) 04 Oct 2020 12:57:18
And been turned down.

3.) 04 Oct 2020 13:25:36
It’s taken 3 weeks for this to be the offer 🤷‍♂️.

4.) 04 Oct 2020 13:58:24
I think we will get this one done, after failing on Sancho

Possibly a RW

Yes we need a CB and DM but we were never going to sign that many players in 1 window. Considering the number of youngsters we’ve signed I don’t think that’s a bad window at all if it pans out.

5.) 04 Oct 2020 14:20:29
Wazza I think that's pretty much how it will pan out. I think we might get Ismaila Sarr next week before the domestic window closes on the 16th.

6.) 04 Oct 2020 15:46:13
I think so too Shappy, and I understand the frustration due to not bringing players in earlier, but those players will improve us for the rest of the season.

7.) 05 Oct 2020 22:26:58
And been rejected. £14.6m apparently against the valuation of £22m. Just get it done.

03 Oct 2020 12:02:56
Telles is due to fly to Brazil tomorrow for international duty.

Porto have set a deadline of today for us to complete the transfer.

Can the amateurs do it?

1.) 03 Oct 2020 12:40:10
Looks like city may be in for him.

2.) 03 Oct 2020 14:22:57
Dembele might be off to Liverpool as well.

11 Jul 2019 12:18:54
Lukaku absent from training today.

The plot thickens.

1.) 11 Jul 2019 12:54:47
Martial too, maybe it's a buy one get one free deal.

The club line is that both were doing gym work.

2.) 11 Jul 2019 12:59:13
Both seem to be carrying knocks.

3.) 11 Jul 2019 13:29:58
Lukaku seems to be carrying a few spare tires.

4.) 11 Jul 2019 14:08:59
I really don't get it why Lukaku is getting this from our fans. If you are telling me that Lingard, Rashford, Martial or Sanchez were better than him the last 2 seasons, then you know nothing of football.

5.) 11 Jul 2019 15:58:30
Or maybe the fact he doesn't like being told he's not first choice and has been making cows eyes at Conte all summer doesn't help his case.

6.) 11 Jul 2019 19:53:04
To be fair you don't need a reason.

17 May 2019 18:46:19
Hi Ed's seems to be a new player linked to us every day as silly season approaches. Any truth in today's reports that United have approached Fulham over Sessegnon? He fits the profile of the other two players we've been strongly linked with.

{Ed002's Note - Manchester United have asked about a price but are aware of serious interest from elsewhere.}

1.) 17 May 2019 20:07:24
Itd be interesting if wed be happy to meet their asking price. Spurs would also be a good option for him.

2.) 17 May 2019 20:09:21
Thanks once again Ed. I think I’ve seen you say elsewhere Spurs are interested.

Thought he had a difficult season but clearly has potential.

{Ed002's Note - Fulham decided he was not ready to step up, but Spurs are indeed keen.}

3.) 17 May 2019 20:17:49
Thank you Ed, have a good weekend.

4.) 18 May 2019 13:51:36
Sky Bet and Sky up to their usual tricks again.

It's not looking good for our team selection this weekend, after AWB and Axel Tuanzebe were arrested at Paris airport after being found with €300m in their pockets.

1.) 21 Oct 2020 22:12:37
Love it.

2.) 21 Oct 2020 22:13:33
Let's get some perspective, PSG were absolutely awful. Strange that some people on here are calling for Tuchel as a replacement for Ole. Is he more tactically aware, it didn't look like that to me. Have his players given up on him? If you earn 20 times more than the boss, do you give a ****, unless you do something worthy of a youtube reel?

3.) 21 Oct 2020 22:28:08
Someone called the fun police?

4.) 21 Oct 2020 22:43:02
No Nicanlee, we were very good.

5.) 21 Oct 2020 23:03:08
Bet you’re fun at parties nican.

20 Oct 2020 22:02:20
From claims we'd be playing a back 7, to others preaching we wouldn't have more than two shots in the game and panning the starting XI.

The tactics were spot on tonight. Rashford and Bruno were both wayward when two on one. It could have been more. Then the change to a back 4 and we controlled the game.

We soaked up the pressure that we knew would come, playing away at PSG, and we did it brilliantly.

Well done Ole. Probably the best he's been tactically. The starting XI was spot on.

Tuanzebe, Fred, McT, AWB all excellent. Even Shaw was stepping out to close down the pressure at the right times.

Rashford does it again. He deserves his moment.

And the cherry on top is watching Neymar and Di Maria on the losing side.

Well done boys 👊.

18 Oct 2020 17:54:29
Cavani trained with the squad for the first time today. I'm looking forward to seeing him play for us. He's a really fit lad so I don't think it will take him too long to be ready. I think we will see some moments of brilliance for him and his high workrate should rub off on others, hopefully Martial in particular.

Telles on the other hand looked absolutely freezing 😂

Regardless of how the transfer window panned out with it's obvious frustrations, our bench looks a lot stronger now compared to last season.

1.) 18 Oct 2020 21:54:06
If he can stay away from injuries he will be a great addition, But it’s going to take him several weeks to get up to speed.

12 Oct 2020 13:24:47
In response to Ed25's comment on the Discussions page, I thought it worth opening up to others.

There seems to be a very black and white opinion to Ole on here, but it's never that straightforward.

Ed25, my response was to Daz who said Ole should have been sacked before we hired him. Clearly that is nonsense, because Ole has done well, up until now.

So if you are asking me if it's any better right now, compared to two years ago when ole took over, my answer is yes. Here's why.

Martial and Rashford have improved.
Youngsters are getting a chance (Greenwood in particular - Jose would have played him as a right back) .
Ole was bold enough to say some players aren't for him - Lukaku, Sanchez, Pereira, Smalling, Darmian, Young - we all wanted to see players moved on and it's happened.

Our squad is now in much better shape than it was when Ole took over.

Our signings have been MUCH better:
Maguire (before this season he was OK, certainly better than Smalling, Lindelof and Bailly were doing) .
AWB did very well last season.
Bruno has been an excellent signing.
Telles looks a good signing.
Donny looks a good signing.

When Ole took over we were 6th, having won only 7 or 17 games.
Last season he helped get us to 3rd.
We were god awful when going out of the CL against Sevilla - I was there, it was a disgrace.
Ole got us one step further at his first attempt.

There are the obvious counters; Maguire and AWB are poor this season, some players have regressed, we need to sell more, we need to buy more. All true and valid points.

So while I think we are much better off now compared to when Jose left, I also think that Ole's time is up. It can be both, and I don't think it's fair to simply dismiss the positives he has achieved.

He has done exactly what needed to happen; improve results (which he has excelled at btw), improve morale and improve the squad.

Now he's done all of the above, and having finished 3rd last season, he surely deserved a crack at this season.

But we are quickly finding out that this next step is beyond him, and now it's time to bring in a better manager.

A better question is: Would our next manager prefer to take over from this squad, or the one that Jose left?

{Ed025's Note - i said in the pre-season pocast wazza that ole deseved his chance to manage utd this season, did they improve from the jose tenure? thats a yes, did they play better football?thats a yes as well, is he the man to lead utd forward? no, because he was not backed in the transfer market and someone else is making the decisions, i feel sorry for the guy and hes done his best but thats not good enough for a club of uniteds stature, for me he needs to go mate as he is just a puppet for the money men to keep the club afloat financially..

1.) 12 Oct 2020 17:40:45
E025, he's not the man because he has not been backed? 🤦‍♂️.

{Ed025's Note - thats exactly what i said angel mate..

2.) 12 Oct 2020 18:09:01
I think you have some good points wazza and Ed we have improved. People are almost hoping ole gets sacked, but we are only 3 games into the league. We didn't strengthen as much as we should have its not ole's fault, but he has improved some of our players which shouldn't be under estimated. I like ole and think he should be given time. If fergie had come in now fans would have wanted him gone, seems we have become spoilt by success in the past. Until we have the owners and board that are capable we could bring in any manager and we will still be in the same position, at least with ole we know he wants to see us back at the top again and will give his all.

{Ed025's Note - united are treading water danny, decisions that are being made within the club are financial rather than football ones mate, the best thing that could happen would be for ole to tell them to shove it up their arse and resign..but i cant see it..

3.) 12 Oct 2020 18:22:53

Is it any better? Compare the points and position of Mourinho’s last full season and last season. Ole took over a team that finished 2nd. How is so many points less and zero trophies compared to Mourinho an improvement?

You quote Seville. I am not sure I have seen a more pathetic capitulation than against Spurs in my 52 years of watching, that was following on from the Palace debacle and what was on offer at Brighton.

Lukaku, I had to laugh watching England yesterday, Neville started off by saying Ole didn’t fancy Lukaku and got rid of him, then ended up praising Lukaku to the hilt for his centre forward display. Ole binned him off, but then replaced him with Ighalo.

There are new rumours the players are unhappy with Ole on how Romero has been treated, add that to Bruno’s issues and how that was handled. Is that expert management?

How much money has been spent for Ole and for it we got to watch the Spurs game.

You are right he deserved to start the season, despite the utter tactical mess he made of the Chelsea semi final, you are also right, his time is so up. The Ed25 is also right, Ole is the sentimental choice to deflect our sight away from what is happening to the club and that has happened for two years.

{Ed025's Note - these are very troubled times for united red man and to be honest i cant see it ending anytime soon seems the light at the end of the tunnel has been switched off..

4.) 12 Oct 2020 18:41:55
Martial and rashford would have improved under pochettino, for reference see kane, son, alli and eriksen at spurs.

Youngsters would have played under pochettino, for reference see alli, kane, winks at spurs.

Those players being shipped out is one area ole does deserve credit, he has been prepared to ship out players not good enough even if it means they're not replaced.

Have no real problem under ole but its clear to me he's done his job that was required from him (to get champs league football) . Just not convinced at all he can take the next step and make us title challengers.

5.) 12 Oct 2020 19:21:44
Yeah I see that ed025, hence the 🤦‍♂️.

{Ed025's Note - so you think he has angel?..players that HE wanted im talking about mate..

6.) 12 Oct 2020 19:43:37
Rashford didn't improve and i don't blame only Ole for this. Before lockdown and when we counterattacked teams he was really good because he had space to run. When teams found a platform to stop us after lockdown he was our worst player. He must learn how to play in tight space and have patience until he finds a chance.
The only player really improved is Martial because he found a manager to constantly play him as a striker and this filled him with confidence.

7.) 12 Oct 2020 19:56:24
I feel it’s time for Ole to move upstairs as a DoF and bring in someone more tactically savvy.

He would become the guardian of the culture at the club, set the general direction, geht to chose the players and coaches to fit in with the culture he‘s aiming at and have more time for it.
He‘d probably have enough credit still to have enough weight to stand up to Ed and be part of the board after achieving 3rd place last season.

That would for me be the masterplan.

8.) 12 Oct 2020 20:00:48
So he did what we demanded of him last season. But now, three games in to the new season, we can all see it's a step too far for him? 3 games? I've no idea whether he'll be good enough in the long run, and probably deep down believe he might not be, but we're three games in. When will the talk of relegation start again? 5 games?

{Ed025's Note - i see what your saying noucamp but how long do you give him?, 3 weeks..3 months...3 years?, a decision needs to be made whether you stick or twist mate..

9.) 12 Oct 2020 20:23:54
Yeah he has been backed. Of course. Look at what he has been given since he has came in. Look at who has been moved on since he came in.

And even if you think you hasn't been backed, it certainly isn't the reason why he isn't the man. The guy is way out of his depth and is absolutely the wrong man, no matter who was signed.

He got all the players he wanted at Cardiff, how did that go? I'm glad he's not calling the shots on players he wants

Penny is finally starting to drop with people now.

10.) 13 Oct 2020 08:55:10
Not 3 games, Ed025. This is going to be a strange season, but I'd say if there's no discernable improvement on our current performances, he'll either walk, or be sacked by Xmas, mate.

{Ed025's Note - i hope he walks noucamp, there is a bit more dignity in that imo and i think he deserves that at least mate..

11.) 13 Oct 2020 12:23:36
I don't get why OGS should be moved upstairs . To do what clean the toilets i certainly don't want him in the boardroom maybe a club Ambassador promoting our great club but that is it 😁😁.

12.) 13 Oct 2020 12:59:56

I was told I was naive for suggesting that!

{Ed025's Note - naiveity is in the eye of the beholder red man, i hate the way some posters try to force their ideas upon other posters, if you believe what your saying then stick to your guns mate, they are all just opinions in the end..

05 Oct 2020 20:10:13
Romero's Mrs has hit out at the club on social media.

Hard to disagree with what she says though. He's been treated poorly and we should not be standing in his way if he wants to go.

1.) 05 Oct 2020 20:33:31
He's been the ultimate professional and deserves better.

2.) 05 Oct 2020 20:53:12
Pathetic from the club not letting him move on. Where’s the logic in it? De Gea and Henderson are now 1 and 2 so why not let him move. He’s a quality keeper who could be a number 1 at most clubs. Another shameful situation by the club.

3.) 05 Oct 2020 21:20:23
Has anyone come in for him?

4.) 05 Oct 2020 21:31:46
Mrs. Romero should be our next manager, give some of the players a good kick up the .

5.) 05 Oct 2020 21:37:09
Yes but why make direct rivals stronger to our disadvantage.

The players you list don't exactly pour glory over your argument Shappy. With the exception of Laporte, of course, but the rule of averages says one of them will be good.

Look where it got LVG, he's history and we've ended up with Rojo.

Think where we'd be if had just signed Koulibaly or Varane rather than try to over complicate things.

I can't remember any time in following football where a CB pairing has been successfully because one of the pair is left footed, and that's when wingers were proper wingers. In fact most to the best pairings have both been right footed.

It's a load of old bolloxolgy if you ask me.

I don’t get this obsession with needing a left footed CB. Especially as most wingers are now inverted and cut inside, moving on to the defenders right foot. It seems mythical to me.

I’m with you Eric, I don’t see what Bailly has to offer us. It probably says more about the quality of our other CBs that Bailly is highly thought of.

Again Redman. He doesn’t want what happened before to happen again. What’s wrong with that. You are trying to spin it as a negative but it’s a good thing.

Thanks Kemlyn.

Speaking of the 1% that’s something Juan Mata is working on. I can’t post links here but there’s plenty of info if you google it.

I hope more young players work as hard as Rashford is doing for those less fortunate.

He needs taking out of whatever circles he's mixing in, a clean break.

Well said GDS2, the lad is a true inspiration. Andy Robertson have him perhaps the highest praise he could get 😂

I liked the timing of his post as well, shortly after he'd scored another winner in Paris. Smart.
