Hi Guys

Maybe a conversation starter.
As the end of the season is getting closer which players will get Player of the Year and Young player.
For me it is David De Gea and Adnan.

De Gea by more than a mile.

Januzaj for sure.

Hi Bazza.

I agree with your thoughts and I think most fans will. But how about this question:

Aside from those two players (DDG & Jan) which of our squad deserve to play for Utd next season on this years performances?

I would say, Welbeck, just. It says something when I can genuinely only think of 3 players this season that have not gone backwards, or improved sufficiently to be worthy of a place next season. Horrific.

There the only two in the running really.

Tom Cleverley deserves it, it's not his fault he has to play with dimwits like Fletcher, Carrick and Fellaini who make him look shocking.

5.) 21 Apr 2014
I would have to agree with those 2 without a doubt. i'm glad we stuck by de gea. We knew we had a world class talent he just needed to get rid of the nerves and pressure that comes with being a young man in a strange country with a big price tag. He looks worth every penny now :) our season could have looked worse without him. I can't think of anyone else who has stood out apart from these 2.

You could have asked the same question last year because even though we were champions most of the squad had patchy to poor seasons. Carrick, Rafael, De Gea and RVP (in the first part of the season in particular), were truly worthy of the shirt.

The writing has been on the wall. Last year we flattered to deceive.

To me what is most alarming is that other clubs are producing better young talent. Shaw, Coleman, Barclay, Sterling, Lallana etc etc. I think there uis something inherently amiss with the set-up when United players are sending their kids to the City academy.

This year, under Brendan Rodgers, Liverpool have proved what SAF proved year after year - just spending money will not necessarily win you anything. They have a great blend between talented youngsters, experience, and a coupe of notable imports. It's a team game and the manager is the fundamental basis of success.

Strong rumours that Moyes is about to be fired. Couldn't happen too soon as far as I'm concerned. There really is no way back from this.

Rest assured, cleverly needs no help at all to look shocking!

Yes exactly Peashooter, we were pretty awful last year, but we had bottle and teams feared us still.

We did ok in the CL this year because Sociedad, Shakhtar and Leverkusen (Olympiakos at OT), played against the name. Next time we are in Europe it won't be the same as European teams will have figured out what the PL has, but we have to get there first before concerning ourselves with thatI suppose.

I'm hoping the taxi is called for Moyes today, it can't carry on.

I think Rooney could be a contender for player of the year as well as de Gea.

I've also been impressed with how Buttner seems to have developed, especially in the 2nd half of the season so would put him for a contender for young player. Adnan hasn't done much in recent months and looked out of his depth against Munich, wheras Buttner played v well against them.

10.) 21 Apr 2014
Scrub the Buttner suggestion. I just remembered he is 25 so hardly a 'young player', just inexperienced. I still think he's come on well tho.

11.) 21 Apr 2014
Rooney? Really? God help us if that is the best we can do. Not sure about DDG either, bearing in mind he threw one into the ney which ultimately cost us a final.

I struggle tonominatenamyoje who has been consistently good this year which says it all really. I'm not trying to be provocative, just saying it as I see it. The fact we have no one nominated for player of young player of the year is telling, I doubt any of our players will make the PFA player of the year either.

Player of the year? FELLAINI for believing all the hype about Utd and living up to his price tag

Young player of the year? POWELL for moving to Wigan on loan and thus protecting himself whilst the flatscreen hit the fan
