I think the press and fans are jumping onto the Mourinho not ending his career with us and blowing it way out of proportion. Jose has at least 17 years left until he is 70 odd years old and I think we all know deep down he is not going to be here for that long. I would expect him to stay beyond his 3 year contract but not stay longer than 7 years. He has previously stated he has ambitions of managing portugal and I can see him going to PSG. But i think we need to take what has been said in the media with a pinch of salt.

This, in my opinion, is the hardest job he has ever taken. To revive a wounded giant such as ourselves, under intense media scrutiny that united always have coupled with the need to play attacking and entertaining football. I think the key is to have a succession plan which is something that City have done really well. The club has been in turmoil since Fergie left and Mourinho has come in and has tried to change this. There has been a overhaul of the scouting system, academy and the facilities.

I think the idea of having a Director of Football is integral for us to move forward. In the modern day, there needs to be a bridge between the wigs on the board and the manager and this would make a change of manager less disruptive. Managers are not going to build dynasties a la Fergie and to an extent Wenger and this is something that the club has to accept. Personally, if Jose does go I would look to appoint a director of football and look at Pochettino or Marco Silva who is a fantastic young manager.

Of course all of this is speculation and pointless but I think we need to relax. We have gone to Anfield and come out with a point. Peformance was terrible but people are forgetting Arsenal and Chelsea just lost. We take the point and move on. We go again and we carry on winning. Pogba is intergal and I hope he is back soon because he tranforms our team.

Hi Ed thanks for the reply. What do you think has been jose's hardest job if you do not think it is the united job?

Am I right in thinking that we were after the Athletico Madrid Director? I was not not suggesting we appoint someone random but instead suggesting that this should be a high priority for us.

The united job has got to be one of the easiest jobs in the world if you consider that the boards actions have shown since fergie left that as long as you get champions league football you're safe.

Im in no doubt the fans think differently and have higher expectations but the glazers, woodward etc have been quite lenient with managers post fergie.

DSG, really? Moyes was acid after 1 year, LVG managed 2. That doesn't sound pariticularly lenient to me. They realised they made a mistake with Moyes and sacked him and LVG was sacked immediately after winning the FA Cup. Looks quite clinical to me.

In a modern context i think it is AJH, if moyes and lvg performed like that at city, chelsea, madrid or bayern theyd have been hooked mid season.

With the resources available to united managers nowadays asking for champions league football season in season out isn't too much to ask in my opinion.

Obviously if were just looking at uniteds history then they have been given short shrift but i was speaking in relation to ruthless attitudes towards managers in recent times.
