Think i have been a silent follower for almost ten years and counting though this is my second time posting. I don't know about where most of you come from but here in Kenya, Man united Vs Arsenal is arguably the biggest football rivalry and tempers are all time high a week before the match is played. so hate seeing them top of the league tbh just because their voices have gone a notch higher ?. good work been done by all the Eds i have to say. would love to hear your views about Joao Felix whom i have to say am very very excited to see him linked with us and whether the rumours are solid or just clickbait.

Always thought he would be an excellent false nine for Pep.

João Felix is in my opinion an excellent player who has made a move to the wrong side. He would suit a possession heavy attack orientated side rather than a sit deep and counter side like Atletico Madrid under Simeone.

Whether he can rediscover his best form and reach the potential he had as a 19 year old at Benfica remains to be seen. He has not developed anywhere near as much as he should have done over the past 4 years due to moving to the wrong club. While those late teens and early 20's are key leaning and developing years for a young footballer.

He still has potential and in the right team with the right manager he can certainly play better than we have seen at Atletico.

For me there are two issues, firstly are United the right team? How does he fit into the side and does that get the best out of him and the other players around him?

I'm not sure, but I also don't know EtH's plans. If EtH wants him and has a plan for how to use him then I'll trust the manager.

The second issue seems to be the fee that Atletico want. They paid 115m for him four years ago, and want the bulk of that back. Yet the reality is he is a player who is 4 years older and hasn't progressed as he was expected. In the current market he's probably worth 50-60% of what Atletico paid for him.

Some players are worth over paying for, players with extremely high potential who are currently playing at a very high level. Players like Haaland, Mbappe and Bellingham due to their talent, age and current trajectory you can justify overpaying. João Felix doesn't fit into the category unfortunately as he isn't playing great football and there is now a question mark over his ability to reach his potential.

Atletico got a bit trigger-happy with their Griezmann cash and tried to appease the fans with Felix. I think he's a talented player but if you were told up front one of their players had signed for that fee and had to choose who I don't think he'd be the one who'd spring to mind. Same as with Utd and Maguire, they'll have to be prepared to take a hit because at that fee we should expect a pretty explosive in-form player. If we were to get him on loan and he makes enough of a difference to justify a permanent deal then fair play, the trouble is coming up with a 'loan to buy' fee up front as at the moment he's not worth half what they paid. Certain targets will have to be agreed.

As an aside, I thought Griezmann was outstanding at the WC, one of my picks for player of the tournament until the final itself when he was invisible. A player whose position has changed considerably in recent seasons. He's become France's Modric, the player who controls the game rather than the roaming striker. Not suggesting him in a Utd shirt, I know he's not everyone's cup of tea.

He is a top player imo. He works hard and has great ability. I agree with shappy in a much as athletico were not the right team for him.
I also agree with shappy that the price for him will be prohibitive and he won't be short of offers.
Again it's all down to who eth wants and can he get him in Jan.
Gakpo is the 1 most talked about I've not seen much of him apart from the wc. Funds will need to be generated awb possibly or vdb or pellistrini. It would be nice to bring someone in to freshen things up.

With Ronaldo going it would be good to bring someone in, although garnacho getting more time is another possibility. It will help to make the club feel like they moved on towards the future if another player was added into the first team squad.

I like Felix, AM was not the right club for him, but he has learned the value of hard work. Could stand him in good stead when he finds the right club.
