Could well be, the club is supposedly open to letting either Jones or Smalling leave, possibly both.

I have said we have too many centre backs currently for Jose's preferred options. I have high hopes for Tuanzebe, so clear the path for him to get games would be good.

I would let jones go before smalling everyday of the week. The injury record for jones is so bad it no longer matters if he is better or not as you can't rely on him being available.

Jones is a much better player. Smalling, you always fear a big mistake in a big match.

Surely he would have played jones in cdm during pre season if that was his thinking?

Smalling needs to go, jones hasn't become the player we thought he might, but he's still better than Smalling. Jones will only be cover at CB so injuries shouldn't affect him as much, hopefully. If they are replace him next summer.
