"It is a point on the board against a good team, " said Solskjaer. "Last time we beat PSG we struggled big time. Our results were shocking. We hardly won a game. I am keen that it doesn't happen again. "

So the Manager of Manchester United, a club renowned for attacking football, now has someone with a mindset of don't let it happen again. Yes, learn from history, but to have a mindset not to let it happen again, shows the fear of losing is clearly in his mind. A point is seen as a good result, the don't lose mentality out in the open.

The more I read that quote it is everything that people said was wrong with Mourinho, that Shappy wrote endless posts about Mr Negative.

Ole then said the crowd in the Stretford End would have sucked the ball in. No, the crowd would have been chanting Attack, Attack, Attack and he is lucky there has been no crowd at the first three home games.

It's going to be relentless, It's easy to be a fan, or to be you and sit and say 'he should be playing, he should be playing', but you don't know what's going on behind the scenes.
They are tired, they've played lots of internationals now, every three days. And after PSG last time [in 2019] we had a big dip. This time around we've started with a good performance, we got a point and it's something to build from. "

What’s wrong with saying, we don’t want to see a bad run of results again?

His mindset seems to be that he fears that, fear is driving his team direction, he didn’t want to lose, he didn’t want what happened before to happen again, that is his thought process. Be aware, be mindful of things that happened but basing strategy on the fear of the worst happening is not a positive mindset is it?

He is hanging on by his fingernails to his job, we have not started well this season at home so a loss yesterday would have put the pressure right on, you can't blame him really for setting up not to lose at home.

Jay,

People can blame him for anything don’t you worry about that.

When you think about it if social media had been around in the 80s then Fergie would have been gone before he would have even had chance to win the Prem.

Again Redman. He doesn’t want what happened before to happen again. What’s wrong with that. You are trying to spin it as a negative but it’s a good thing.

The power of positive thinking or looking back fearful what happened could happen again. Which is better? Perhaps it is also the fact he let people know his thought process was naive.

Because Jose's football was dire AND he created a toxic atmosphere.

José's football was terrible, he created a toxic atmosphere and he didn't give youth a chance.

Ole's results are currently much the same as José's, yet the football is on the whole better to watch, the feeling around the club and in the dressing room is much better and Ole has given young players a chance.

I think what upsets certain posters most is that despite things not being perfect at the club, on the whole things are still much better under Ole than they were under Jose.

Are they much better? Perhaps in your eyes.

You think Spurs was better or Saturday? Or Palace? Or Brighton?

“Much” better, don’t make me laugh, we have 7 points from 5 games and a Manager who was so concerned not to lose that game that he was pleased with a point.

I am only upset that some are prepared to accept poor because it is Ole and then defend the indefensible to the hilt.

Did anyone watch the Spurs game tonight? It brought back the flashbacks alright.

Nou

I watched it and it wasn’t a great watch, yet was better than some of the stuff Ole served up. That isn’t really the point though, people defend Ole for producing negative football, yet spent hours on here panning Mourinho for it. We know what the difference is, that nice warm emotional feeling from 99.
