Eds is there any truth in the Spurs wanting Lingard and are we actively looking to sell James as well, reported interest for both today.

{Ed002's Note - Jesse Lingard (RW/AM) knows that Manchester United see him as potentially being surplus to requirements at Old Trafford and that the current coach is not keen on him - so, not unreasonably. there is an ad hoc agreement with Mino that allows him to look for other options for the player. Right now I am aware there have been approaches to several sides and that the couple who showed some interest have moved on. Interest in England I am told is thin on the ground although at least two sides have been approached - Spurs and Everton. Mr Mourinho knows the player well and could be open to taking him but he might have a problem persuading others at Spurs.

Daniel James (LW) after failing to sign JAmes last summer Leeds could look to him, perhaps on a loan deal initially, as an option to first choice Said Benrahma who is heading elsewhere.

1.) 20 Sep 2020 12:09:14
I’ve been messaged by 2 Spurs supporting mates this morning saying there are noises from their end that a Dele Alli - Jesse Lingard swap deal isn’t sounding as daft as it may seem.

2.) 20 Sep 2020 12:21:53
PSG in for alli now. being reported by the telegraph.

3.) 20 Sep 2020 12:43:37
I would go for that but he would have to buck his ideas up, then again he would fit right in with our lot.

4.) 20 Sep 2020 11:58:19
Cheers Ed for the reply.

5.) 20 Sep 2020 14:59:49
Fair to say Spurs fans don't want Lingard.

6.) 20 Sep 2020 15:33:51
Would be a good move for the lad still really young with loads of potential.

7.) 20 Sep 2020 16:05:52
Agree Wazza. Would take Alli as I think he will get better once he matures in 2-3 years. Jose doesn’t have patience with kids as much but he may fit in better with the similar age group we have with Marcus, martial vdb Henderson etc. Much better option than Grealish if we were still in for him like Ed said.

If Anyone from the Utd mgmt team is reading this page - please please please sell Pogba and get a good midfielder like Saul or Partey in so that we can play Two of bruno vdb and Alli behind the front three.

8.) 20 Sep 2020 16:13:52
RLF i was talking about Lingard 😂.

9.) 20 Sep 2020 16:36:57
Oops. My bad!

10.) 20 Sep 2020 19:01:38
The swap would probably be a good move for both players, I don't think it will happen but for the various needs of ourselves and Spurs I can see it being discussed.
If Ali can get back to his best then you are looking at a real asset and rotation piece in the middle.

{Ed004's Note - Don't think we currently have a need for Alli and I'm sure spurs would value him higher than Lingard}

11.) 20 Sep 2020 19:12:13
Lingard Alderweirald swap would be amazing :)

12.) 20 Sep 2020 21:23:44
TrueRedDevil do you actually watch football. Another slow ageing central defender just what we need.

13.) 20 Sep 2020 21:57:59
Blackpool lol, he is better than each and everyone of our CB's.

14.) 21 Sep 2020 06:59:48
That may be truereddevil but that doesn’t take much doing these days.

15.) 21 Sep 2020 09:28:25
While I think it's time for Lingard to move on, I'm not sure how Alli would fit in our team, especially now we have signed DvdB.

I could see Alli coming in as a replacement for Pogba if he were to leave. I think we would struggle to name a balanced line up with midfield options of Pogba, Bruno DvdB and Alli all as offensive midfielders.

Also I'm not sold on Alli, he is one of those players who has been threatening to break out for years, he's 24 now and should be performing regularly to a high standard. He has the talent, does he have the right mentality?

18 Sep 2020 13:08:38
Paulo Fonseca Roma manager say's there could be an update on Smalling to Roma in the next few days, hope he gets his move and free's up some wages for another centre back.

1.) 18 Sep 2020 13:51:59
Would probably still have to sell one of rojo or jones to free up space in the squad for a new cb.

2.) 18 Sep 2020 13:53:56
I'd rather that he stays and Rojo and Jones are binned off.

3.) 18 Sep 2020 14:07:00
Can't see anyone taking Jones to be honest not on the wages he is on and his injury record, we are stuck with him I think, can't believe we gave him another contract and didn't just let him leave on a free.

4.) 18 Sep 2020 14:17:07
Burnley are apparently considering Phil jones I am guessing only if tarkowski goes.

5.) 18 Sep 2020 14:38:27
We need to sell all 3. Maguire and Lindelof seem first choice, then we have Bailly and Tuanzebe and now Mengi. That’s 8 for 2 positions. Even selling the 3 leaves us with 5 which is the right number in my opinion. The one thing we do lack is a left footed CB so that is what I would be looking for if the 3 were to leave and loan out Mengi.

6.) 18 Sep 2020 18:16:04
Rojo is left footed 😉.

7.) 18 Sep 2020 18:50:34
Rojo is two footed when he tackles.

8.) 18 Sep 2020 19:24:05
The most logical thing for Jones is a loan move to a PL club with us paying the difference in wages.

He must have thought all his birthdays arrived at once when he signed that new contract.

9.) 18 Sep 2020 22:31:00
He can take his treatment table with him as well.

08 Jan 2020 12:16:10
Is there any truth in United being in for Van De Beek.

{Ed002's Note - Three clubs have made enquiries about van de Beek, one is seriously interested and plan on taking him in the summer. Manchester United are not one of these clubs and have other targets in that position.}

1.) 08 Jan 2020 13:05:02
Cheers for the reply Ed.

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome.}

2.) 08 Jan 2020 18:56:05
Saw a comment on another forum saying United like to leak transfer targets after a defeat to change the media narrative. Not sure if is true, but an interesting thought.

3.) 08 Jan 2020 21:02:56
Grim you will notice it a lot when you look out for it. They are always at it. Maddison is one today for the summer. Where have we heard that one before?

04 Jul 2017 12:34:47
A BBC reporter apparently thinks that Lukaku's advisors would rather him sign for United, seems to be a bit of a hold up on his reported move to Chelsea, not sure about the £100m price tag though.

1.) 04 Jul 2017 13:03:49
100 million. That's madness.
50 m is a big price for him.
A few years back they were saying Messi was worth a 100m. And I thought no way. Now they reckon lukaku is.
I understand now why ed002 says don't talk about the money it will only confuse you.

2.) 04 Jul 2017 13:09:13
Lukaku quite clearly wants a move to Chelsea. Raiola however would most likely want a move to your lot as he knows you'll pay him a boatload of money, whereas Chelsea aren't extravagant with their spending.
Chelsea won't pay 100m for Lukaku, I'm pretty sure of that. Granovskaia has the club's valuation in mind and she won't budge on that. So who knows, maybe Lukaku will abandon hope of a Chelsea move happening when Everton refuses to lower their valuation, and then Raiola will engineer a move to United (unless you guys already have Morata by then) .

3.) 04 Jul 2017 13:21:09
Think it is just a ploy to hurry Chelsea up and I believe it would be more like £60-£70m, he will sign for Chelsea.

4.) 04 Jul 2017 13:45:33
Chelsea aren't extravagant in their spending is the best quote I've seen on here in a while!

5.) 04 Jul 2017 14:30:54
Personally I don't care what his "advisors" want, if the player would rather play elsewhere, let him go elsewhere. We want players who want to play for us.

6.) 04 Jul 2017 14:34:48
Torres is still the biggest transfer we've made, GDS2. We're pretty conservative in our spending considering we're a top club with huge money.
We also sell to buy it seems. Care to elaborate why you think it's a funny statement?

7.) 04 Jul 2017 14:53:47
I don't think I need to, if you don't think Chelsea are where they are because of extravagant spending then the conversation is pointless.

8.) 04 Jul 2017 15:53:26
You're about to spend £60m on a left back.

9.) 04 Jul 2017 16:14:05
Don't really want to see lukaku at united good player but not a top class player kane would be perfect morata would be very good to hope he will come don't like what is going on with the transfer's again! linked with every one and no one coming.

10.) 04 Jul 2017 16:52:09
Whatever his destination, looks like it won't be long until we all find out as it looks like Everton are spending his fee 'a la Bale' when he was sold by Spurs. I would be happy with Lukaku, maybe this is one of many big twists to happen? Quiet before the storm? :)

11.) 04 Jul 2017 17:01:00
I hope we stay clear, Nothankyou - Lukaku.

Anonymous 75% of the time I watch Everton, lazy as well, touch of an oaf.

Big, strong, quick, good finisher - but anything over £40m is too much. £100m could probably get us Lewandowski.

12.) 04 Jul 2017 18:36:12
GDS2, the past doesn't really factor into all this. What extravagant spending have Chelsea done over the past couple of years? I'm genuinely wondering how other clubs' fans view this. I know Chelsea fans realize we've cut back on the "big" purchases.

13.) 04 Jul 2017 19:20:46
Sideshow Bob?

14.) 04 Jul 2017 19:51:43
Jackson, the past ALWAYS factors in.

Just look back a few years at Utd, when people were still saying Utd only got where we were because SAF spent big in his early years at Utd.

The fact is he only spent slightly above what other big clubs were paying at the time, and it was over 20 years ago. People still throw it in our face though. We had to deal with it for long enough, now you do, and in a few years City fans will too.

15.) 04 Jul 2017 20:27:16
I'm not here to slate another club. Spending is a part of the sport, and it's necessary to stay at the top. Clubs have to invest large sums to stay competitive.
But all of our big purchases since Torres have been for around 30 to 35 million pounds, which isn't very high when you compare it to what other top clubs have been doing (apart from Bayern, who always seem to get good deals) . That's all I'm saying. Looking at the last couple of seasons we've seen Chelsea become self sustaining as a club. In the past couple of months we've sold Oscar for big money, Ake, Traore, Begovic, Cuadrado. These will likely be followed by the sales of Matic and Costa. Our net spend isn't that high.

16.) 04 Jul 2017 20:31:14
Lol Brendan. the very same as him.

17.) 04 Jul 2017 20:43:23
Jackson, if we changed the names in that post it would match several posts I made 10 years ago alnost word for word.

Other fans though will always remember the big spending though, even if your club spends less than all their rivals for 10 years, it will still be the big spending that people remember.

Don't bother fighting it, it's a waste of energy.

18.) 04 Jul 2017 21:37:55
I'm sorry miss Jackson (woah), you're not for real.

Chelsea are the biggest spenders in the Premier League era. If you aren't extravagant then who is.

19.) 04 Jul 2017 22:19:11
I should perhaps look into the data to see whether you're right on that, Wazza.
But of you're going to call me a girl (6'5 22 year old male, so you're off) and tell me I'm not for real (for no apparent reason at all) I won't bother trying to have a genuine discussion on here. Disappointing as I thought this was a welcoming discussion board.

20.) 04 Jul 2017 22:38:10
Jackson, OutKast can't have escaped you if you're 22, right? Google Ms. Jackson - OutKast and thank me later. I'm sure no insults were intended.

21.) 04 Jul 2017 22:48:17
Jackson its just a reference to a song called 'miss Jackson' mate, I think by the band outkast?

I think the stat is correct but yes as of late Chelsea do seem to have reigned in their large spending and I can't lie I think Chelsea have got a good sales team in as you always get top dollar for your player sales whilst united were happy to sell for cheap (seems to be changing now thankfully) .

You did though pump huge money into your club with abromaviches take over.

22.) 05 Jul 2017 07:05:04
Oh yeah, the song, I remember it now. Apologies, Wazza, it'd been a long day and I didn't see the reference at first. That's my bad.
As you said, Sparky, Roman invested huge money in the club in his first couple of years. But since Torres it seems like the board has become more prudent in their spending. And it's for that very reason that I still fear we'll let Lukaku go to another club (i. e. United) . You guys will almost certainly be willing to pay more for him. We'll see how it plays out. Just maybe leave one of Morata and Lukaku for us, mkay? :-P.

23.) 05 Jul 2017 08:32:54
I think Jackson has a point. When Roman took over they spent huge amounts of money to take that step up now they are winning things they seem more sensible. It's a bit like the reverse of United, when we were winning everything SAF used to refer to no value in the market, now we have struggled a bit (compared to previous years) we are splashing the cash to get back in there.

Some clubs are very good at buying and selling, we do seem to get prices hiked, probably because we have the only, and Woody see, s daft enough to pay it,

01 Jul 2017 16:27:09
To any of the ed's, is there any truth in United asking about Dortmund's Bartra.

{Ed002's Note - Not as far as I know.}

1.) 01 Jul 2017 16:33:03
Thanks for the swift reply Ed002.

20 Sep 2020 12:42:15
A lot of posters on here agree that Ole isn't the best tactical manager to say the least, some decisions he gets right but mostly it has been painfully obviously how much out of his depth he has been, one of the main problems for me is Phelan, here we have an assistant who's methods are stuck firmly in the past advising a manager that is out of his depth.

I understood the wanting an assistant with a link to United but surely René Meulensteen would have been a better shout, all that aside he needs to be backed by getting the players in he needs while as manager and that hasn't happened properly since Fergie and Gill went, one thing is he won't be sacked until we are out of the champs league and not in a position to be in it next season that is for sure.

1.) 20 Sep 2020 13:04:19
It's like the Pogba situation allover again.

Buy the players Pogba will be good, bought the players Pogba is still crap.

Get a new assistant the manager will be good. NO! The managers CRAP!

The excuses are unreal and dumbfounding.

2.) 20 Sep 2020 13:17:26
it would be better to just get a decent manager.

3.) 20 Sep 2020 13:23:54
I agree but they are not going to sack him this season until we are out of europe and can't qualify for champions league next season.

4.) 20 Sep 2020 13:32:31
Correct daz.

5.) 20 Sep 2020 14:31:13
Moyes wasn't good enough so we sacked him.

LvG wasn't good enough so we sacked him.

Jose wasn't good enough so we sacked him.

Ole isn't good enough so the fans want him sacked.

At what point do we say that the problems go deeper than the manager and until they are addressed we will continue as we have the past 7 years. Poor recruitment, poor handling big the club on the footballing side, poor managerial selections, and rinse and repeat sackings to mask the incompetence of those higher up.

Sacking the manager is just asking for the playground bully to spin the roundabout faster even though we feel sick and want to get off.

6.) 20 Sep 2020 15:00:44
Sacking the manager will be another win for the decision makers.

Why are we not realizing that the structure is the fundamental problem.

7.) 20 Sep 2020 15:03:25
Ole has a fairly decent record against the better teams, so he cat be that tactically inept. Who else beat Guardiola three times last season?

The problems are elsewhere. Ole may not be good enough to take us where we want to be, but nobody would be until the problems are sorted. There needs to be at least a right winger and a center back, I honestly think Maguire is our worst CB since Prunier. The coaching staff needs bettering and a director of football needs to come in, so there's a degree of consistency between managers. Also, transfers need to be sorted before the season begins.

8.) 20 Sep 2020 15:10:07
Shappy, Ole won't be sacked but he was never the right manager in the first place, he's here till we are out of europe and out of contention for champs league next season but they have to plan now and make sure they get the right man in this time not some interim coach that gets the job through nostalgia.

9.) 20 Sep 2020 15:21:15
I’ve said for the last 6-7 years the club is rotten from top to bottom. I read something a few years ago about how utd scouts spends hours watching and scrutinising our targets. Even a blind man could see Lindelof wouldn’t be a good centre half. Woodward wouldn’t know a player if he fell over him, fantastic at getting sponsorship deals so do that and get a proper football man in charge. How many of the players who have signed since Fergie left would us fans really have signed, hardly any. Money wasted not only on players but giving ridiculous contracts. Surely the Glazers must wonder why people like Phil Jones were given extended improved contracts. Oh sorry they wouldn’t have a scooby who he even was. For me losing David Gill looks catastrophic.

10.) 20 Sep 2020 15:38:45
Woodwood doesn't pick the players, he signs the deals off, Judge negotiates them, The scouting team choose the players with the manager so its them that should get the abuse.

11.) 20 Sep 2020 15:48:25
Shappy works both ways. At what point do we say that the manager is not good enough? Only after he spends half billion?
I have seen a clear plan at Chelsea from Conte in his first months, at City from day one, at Liverpool the same. It seems that only in our club we must wait 5 years and spending half a billion for a manager to give us an identity and a clear plan.
Yes our recruitment team is bad, we are amateurs, but biggest problem is bad choices of managers. None of the above was a good proactive manager and for a team like United that's unbelievable. It seems like Ole leaves at 1990 and say go out and express yourselves to the players. World of football has changed . that's why in 3 seasons in a row a team superpass 90 points, its not a coincidence. A reactive approach will not take us that far. As i said Ole is trying to give some good answers but the questions has changed.

12.) 20 Sep 2020 16:19:33
JaylgMUFC, Van Gaal has recently said he would provide a list of targets and the club would never sign them, either signing someone who was far down the list or someone they believed to be of similar calibre. Mourinho seemed to have similar qualms, so why would it be any different for Ole? People claim Maguire was his first choice but they forget Koulibaly and De Ligt (a player Ole praised again recently when talking of CBs) . By all accounts, Maguire was actually a Mourinho choice that the club failed to sign when he was here.

13.) 20 Sep 2020 17:13:29
LLV, Van Gaal was asking for players that didn't want to leave the clubs they was at, same with Jose and that happened even when Fergie was at United, as for the 2 players you mention, Koulibaly didn't want to move and De Ligt wanted Barcelona or Juventus from what i remember.

14.) 20 Sep 2020 20:09:47
He asked for quite a large list of players, I'm sure the club could have got one or two, or are we to believe Neymar would rather the French league than the Premier League? When you ask for a world class midfielder and you get Fred, something is wrong.

15.) 20 Sep 2020 20:32:19
Well everytime he played last season he played way better than Pogba did, managers will always come out and say i would have had a better chance if they had got me a certain player just look at moyes going on about nearly getting bale this weekend when he was at united.

16.) 21 Sep 2020 07:25:28
Fred is overall crap, can't control a ball properly, can't pass properly, gives the ball away constantly. His only pro is that he wins the ball back a lot, but more often than not gives it straight back again, so that is negated.

15 Jul 2018 13:10:54
Was talking to a friend yesterday that works in the megastore and he was saying that a lot of rumours have obviously been flying around about players coming and going, he said that Herrera and Mata could both be leaving this transfer window and that Sandro is a very likely incoming player.

Just wondering if ED002 could shine any light on it.

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea what is being said in the Megastore. Sorry.}

1.) 15 Jul 2018 13:51:51
lol thought you may have known of any offers for Mata and Herrera or interested clubs.
Thank's anyway ED.

{Ed002's Note - There aren't any. They are teasing you.}

2.) 15 Jul 2018 14:10:36
We won't sell them because no one will match their wages. We're stuck with players we can't move on. No more signings this summer.

{Ed002's Note - Rubbish.}

3.) 15 Jul 2018 14:20:18
Thanks Ed002.

4.) 15 Jul 2018 15:16:05
I love that people in the Mega Store would know what is going on with multi million pound transfers. Ask yourself, why would they know anything? They wouldn’t.

5.) 15 Jul 2018 15:47:12
AJH, he has mentioned about things he has heard while working there in the past that have panned out, why would they not, they get ex players in there, people talk.

6.) 15 Jul 2018 15:56:41
A broken clock is right twice a day. You may be right but I find it hard to believe that these things are discussed so freely.

7.) 15 Jul 2018 16:11:26
He also mentioned the Shaw approach from Everton, didn't need to ask about that because EdOO2 had already told us about that, just passing on what i was told not asking anybody to take it as gospel.

8.) 15 Jul 2018 19:35:01
Keep em coming.

21 May 2018 14:17:20
United reportedly about to make a bid for Toby Alderweireld in the region of £55m, can't make my mind up about him but he would be better than having to put up with Jones and Smalling again next season.

{Ed004's Note - He is the best cb in the league and used to playing in a higher line which I hope we implement. Him and Bailly seem to be a perfect partnership in the making. Just sort out right and left back and we are nearly good to go}

1.) 21 May 2018 14:26:17
Yes would like to see him paired with Bailly, hoping the rumours of Sandro joining are true as well.

2.) 21 May 2018 14:42:23
Not sure either for that money-although he is certainly a talent. I hope Bailly gets off the naughty step, which is where he appears to be .

I would go for quality over quanity every time, I see no place for Jones/ Blind/ Rojo - Smalling at a push/ lindelof/ new cb/ bailly / tuanzebe is plenty.

3.) 21 May 2018 14:56:14
I couldn't believe Spurs got him so cheap to be honest, same with Kante to Chelsea. Both of them now would cost 5 times what was paid just a few years ago. Still worth it.

4.) 21 May 2018 15:01:50
55 million pounds for a centre back that will be 30 in August and has spent 2 thirds of the season out with injury. madness.

5.) 21 May 2018 16:24:55
He will be terrific signing.

6.) 21 May 2018 18:39:32
Kante is a magnificent player. Would improve every single team in the world. What a steal Chelsea got him for. He would easily cost 100m if sold. There is nobody like him in world football.

30 Jul 2017 11:27:48
I think as much as in the media Jose is telling everyone we want 2 more players and maybe will only get the one we are infact trying to sign 4 players before the end of the transfer window, my brother in law delivers to Old Trafford and he has been told the same.

Matic and Perisic are the ones that are closest to being completed the other 2 are Bertrand at left back and Aurier for right back, Bertrand is proving to be hardest to sort out as Southampton don't want to sell, as for Aurier United are trying to get him for lower than what Psg are quoting and Spurs are sniffing around too.

As for outgoings, Fellaini is more or less out of the door, the other one that was mentioned was Ashley Young who wants more playing time and may well leave, bruce is interested at Villa but his wages are a sticking point, Smalling can leave too but nobody has shown interest.

Can't prove any of this is 100% true but sounds about right for me and would be happy with that business and what we have done so far.

1.) 30 Jul 2017 12:33:44
He was also told that Greizman and Bale are the 2 main targets for next season but the transfers may be sorted out before the end of this season so they are in early as Jose doesn't want things dragging on like this summer, again can't 100% prove it just what he was told.

05 Jul 2017 12:03:43
With Rooney looking likely to go now who should be the new team captain, should it be Carrick or someone like Herrera or Valencia, i would personally like to see Herrera made team captain.

1.) 05 Jul 2017 12:24:48
I suspect most people would choose Herrera. The worrying thing is that beyond him there aren't many other stand out candidates. I think that highlights our lack of leadership on the pitch.

2.) 05 Jul 2017 12:31:23
Carrick won't be a main stay, Valencia can't speak English so the natural one is Herrera. Wouldn't surprise me to see Pogba or De Gea get it either.

3.) 05 Jul 2017 12:47:07
De Gea could be a good shout Fresh.

4.) 05 Jul 2017 12:59:13
Pogba may get it I think. I think the problems with Herrera that saw him nearly leaving will go against him.

5.) 05 Jul 2017 14:42:31
Pogba or a new signing 😆😆.

6.) 05 Jul 2017 17:33:13
de gea if he stays might get it as a sweetener.
