Hardest thing in football is refreshing your team whilst staying competitive. Fergie was a master at it. Klopp spending his entire budget on a forward looks like incredibly poor judgement considering their midfield is in dire need of major upgrades.

Even though Diaz has looked pretty good he's a drop down from Mane. In tight games that little fella always popped up with the goods. Liverpool managed to flog Torres for a pretty penny 6 months after he looked like he was finished. The managed to mug Barcelona over Coutinho which in my opinion is the worst transfer in the history of football. But When it comes to Salah, it looks like they've gotten stung with the player in decline on mega wages.

There's a still a quality team in there but when they're used to challenging for major honours, what is the mentality like now when the league is nearly out of site.

Klopp is one of the top 2 or 3 coaches in the world but he's been too loyal to some players and messed up the evolution of that squad. The wheels coming off in the 7th season is just a coincidence but that won't change the narrative that his style just isn't sustainable long term.

Think Liverpool's poor form is down to a few things. There may be a psychological impact of being so close to the quadruple and a season with 2 cup wins (remember them? ) still being regarded as failure having missed out on both big prizes of league and Champs League.

Team wise they prioritised keeping the wrong player for me. Mane looks a real miss in that team and Salah looks to be repeating Aubmayeng at Arsenal - get your much negotiated big pay packet then take an alarming dip in form (both wrong side of 30 too) .

Think Diaz is a good player but Nunez has a lot to prove. Midfield is where they are crying out for reinforcements. There were some strong links with Bellingham going to Liverpool but, as seems likely he will move next summer, hopefully for us Liverpool's downturn in form has come at the right time and they miss out on Champs League and thus big names.

As far as we still have to travel, it was inconceivable we could finish above Liverpool this season but very strong possibility of that now. Long may that continue!
