Coming away from the transfer and takeover talk, I'd just like to hear everyone's thoughts on the prices of football kits. Looking at ours for next season the cost is extortionate.

Home replica = £80
Home authentic = £110
(Printing extra)

Kids mini kit = £55-£60
Junior shirt = £55
Junior shorts = £28
Socks = £20

These prices are getting beyond a joke now and at what point will people say enough. A family could be out £500 kitting themselves out it's a joke. Maybe I'm just a grumpy old man but it doesn't seem right.

Its absolutely scandalous the prices being charged.
Family with 3 kids could afford a weekend away for the price of 3 tops that probably cost a couple of quid to make.
Just another hand in the pocket of the modern football fan .

We're just on about this at work. It's far too expensive. They have soem poor kid paid peanuts to make these shirts.

I had this conversation with my wife on Saturday. Luckily only one of my kids is interested in football, she has last seasons home shirt and I’ll let her choose which one she wants this year. I feel for some families who have to fork out for multiple kids per season. The prices are extortionate.
I saw the long sleeve Maguire home shirt going for £187 on the website. Who in their right mind would pay that for a footy shirt.

Shirts need to go back to two year cycles, they won’t as it’s too lucrative. But then people can decide if they want to buy it at the start of the cycle, or mid cycle to get it cheaper.

Personally I’d rotate the home and away shirts and if they wanted to have a third shirt yearly. But they are only worn a few occasions by teams so don’t need to be new yearly.

However, you don’t need to buy the shirts, I personally prefer a retro shirt now rather then trying to keep up with the new shirt. My moneys better elsewhere and if enough stop buying them the price would eventually drop.

More to the point 2toms, who in their right mind would buy one with Maguire printed on the back?!

I've not bought a replica kit for at least 10 years. I got a bit old for fancy dress.

I have also made the financially prudent decision to not have kids. I enjoy my timez my hobbies, my sleep and my sanity far too much.

As such the cost of kids kits really isn't much of a concern.

However, I do fully agree the prices are ridiculous, as is £10 for a prawn sandwich ??‍♂️

But hey ho that is the world we live in.

I have persuaded my kids that it is much cooler to have retro shirts from the year when you started supporting the club rather than waste money on new shirts each year.

Imagine 76k people inside Old Trafford wearing the shirts from their first season, much better.

Almost cheaper to fly to Thailand, have a holiday and buy hooky gear at the market in Bangkok. Those prices are criminal but I've never been a footy shirt wearer off the field. Never have been into that. Each to their own.
