Sim, there is frustration with these guys not getting more signings done prior to pre-season and the tour, particularly compared with other teams that have new signings and settled squads ready for the start of the season.

I was hoping more of an overhaul would take place at this point, considering the EPL starts in 3.5 weeks. We all know the areas that require additions and we know what ETH wants but yet again the club are snail pace in the transfer market.

I really hope Richard and Judy, sorry, John can get the necessary players in asap but there hasn’t been enough to give me faith in them yet.

I think they are both fans of Catalan Modernism and gone to check out Gaudi’s works, tell the club they are going to ‘negotiate’ with Barcelona and they get a free trip!

Although I agree with much these x-players are saying I don’t believe they should necessarily be ’involved’ in the running of the club.

They are great at highlighting issues as followers and the rest of the media will take note. However we need special-ists in roles for running the club not mates of the Glazers or ex-players. We have been down the sentimental road and that hasn’t worked, also Arnold and Murtough should be replaced by people who know how to run a football club.

Hi V and welcome to contributing via posting, I am a relative new poster too but I am sure the long-term posters will also welcome your thoughts.

I agree with you regards to the performance last week being far from satisfactory. However I disagree with putting Fred as a Holding Midfielder, we need someone who can read the game, tackle and take the ball off the defenders and link the forward line (i. e. pass), unfortunately I haven’t seen any of that consistently in Fred. The problem is who can do that in our current squad? Hence why previous managers have chosen to use McFred - two players to do one job (terribly! ) .

We are clearly going to have to be patient this season and treat it as a transition, with any positive (cup run or finishing top four) a bonus.

Excellent summary there Shappy, thanks very much for doing that. It’s difficult to argue against anything there.

I agree with others regarding the required positivity going into ETH’s first season. It’s easy being cynical and I am guilty of that with all the expectations of this transfer window. But it’s going to take a few transfer windows until the squad has reached ETH’s satisfaction. Until then we continue supporting our team, being positive and I believe we have the right head coach!

In many instances in games last season Fred received the ball then hung on to it, he got pressured by a couple of opposition and he lost possession. He was so frustrating to watch due to his inconsistency.

There’s a decent player there with Donny, maybe he lacks confidence at the moment but I really hope ETH can get him playing well.
