So this is it . the Last weekend of the transfer window. a website Jim White is ready to rock. the big question who do you think we will sign. in an ideal world i'd like fellaini and kaka.

simzdav

1.) Ive been thinking kaka wouldn't be a bad idea

2.) How would u feel wiv Baines, Fellaini and Herrera? ;D

3.) I personally would be very happy with Baines, Fellaini and Herrera. Would obviously prefer Ronaldo and Fabregas in a fantasy world but that's just never going to happen!

Why all the fellaini haters.for me I hope we do sign him. Sometimes its best to go for reliability instead of the fantasy star studded signing. One word VERON, he cost a fortune and was a damp squib. Whens the last time any united central midfielder scored 12 goals in a season? He can score he can tackle and yes he bullies teams. he sure bullied us in the past. But we are missing that. Out of all the targets we have been linked with, quite a few have experience in the premier leagues I think this is wise. rant over lol

simzdav

1.) Well Kagawa scored 17goals in his last season for Dortmund playing the position Fellaini did last year but he also played some games wide of Gotze

2.) Do u mean the fantasy signings like rvp, Ronaldo, Cantona? let's stick to reliable like cleverly, valencia, young!
No thank you.
Nomidfield

3.) 20 Aug 2013 23:21:03
I don't hate Fellaini, I just think their are better options available for cheaper.

Personally I think Fellaini would improve our first team, but I don't know if he has the technical quality to help make a difference in europe.

If he was available for between 16-18m then fine. But for 20m or more then we are being badly ripped off.

My personal favourite would be Axel Witsel, now I know he isn't proven in the prem. But he has played in Russia which is as physical as England, and he tore it up in the Champions league for Benfica. In a friendly againt Real Madrid he single handedly dominated Madrids midfield with Alonso and Khedira in it. Real Madrid were so impressed they were desperate to sign him but couldn't match Zenits bid as they were chasing more attack minded targets.

The guy has all the physical strength and bite that Fellaini has but is a much better passer, with better vision and technique.

If were going to have to pay 23m for Fellaini then we might as well pay 25-30m for Witsel as he is a much better player.

4.) Nomidfield ronaldo nor cantona were fantasy signings as no one had heard of either in UK really. We helped turn them into stars.

Fellaini is exactly what we need and please tell me who is better out there for around 20-24mill? I can't think of any unless we go for an older player then what is the point of that? i'd take M Fellaini all day one of the best in a defensive midfielder in europe. He is not an attacking midfielder just plays there for Everton as they got nothing else. Played DM in Belguim and for Belguim as well. Him and Carrick with Kagawa/rooney in front would do for me.

Shappy as for Witsel yeah he is a class act but cost Shaktar 30+m euros so he would only cost nearer 40m now. Good but not that good.

Lets be honest chances are we will not sign anyone, D Moyes only just got to see the squad and might feel he should give current players a run.

End of the day SAF messed things up by not playing P Pogba instead brought a 35year old Scholes back, he would of eased the problem.

Tucker

5.) Zenit payed 32mill for him shappy not sure they would let him go cheap
Jred

6.) Wistel played in the CL qualifier yesterday. so he can't play in the CL for another team this season.

7.) Simdaz,

Its not Fellaini hating its just prioritising!
We need a player to set the tempo and control games and Fellaini ain't that player! To go from Fabregas to Fellaini would leave me feeling very let down. If we secure a playmaker I'm not opposed to Fellaini (for no more than £20 mill), would just hate to think he would be our only midfield purchase. With all the penny pinching that seems to be going on it's beginning to look like Fellaini and Baines could be the only buys and to spend £35 million on that pair alone would be criminal!
I only hope that they were always part of the original plan but moyes was hoping to make a marquee signing 1st and the marquee will come on the final day!

Fabs

8.) Tucker
No one heard of Cantona? Are we talking about the same guy that was instrumental in Leeds winning the league the year before he signed? He may not have been there all year, but did make the difference setting up goals for that donkey chapman.

And Pogba; move on mate

9.) Fabs, Fabregas was just DM's dream. We kinda knew it would be a near impossible for Barca to let go of both Alcantara and Fabregas.

10.) 21 Aug 2013 07:50:29
Tucker, Fellaini is a good DM but isn't one of the best DM's in europe. There is arguably 3/4 better in the Prem than him let alone in europe. I don't think he's a bad player, just not worth more than 18m.

Jred, I know Zenit paid a lot for him, but he has had issues settling in Russia and he has been the victim of racial abuse, on occasions from his own fans. If he pushed for a move then Zenit would hope to recoup most of what they paid for him but realise they will probably lose money on him.

As for him being cup-tied, well that's unfortunate as it looks like Zenit will quailfy easily after their 4-1 first keg victory. If they do qualify then he would be cup tied until January depending on whether Zenit make it through the group stages, if they don't then we could play him in the knock out satges. If Zenit make it into the knock out rounds too then we would be stuffed.

But personally I think he would be worth taking the gamble on.

11.) Fellaini just ain't good enough! One word arteta, great player for Everton, don't see arsenal have improved much lately

On twatter, chelsea putting in a final offer of 40m plus lukaku for Rooney. ok twatter is hardly a reliable source these day's. but any thoughts? Personally i'd take that all day long.

simzdav

1.) I would accept that offer, as long we signed one of Modric, Ozil, Fabregas, and Kroos. If not then either keep Rooney or ask for Mata.

2.) £40M and Mata, maybe. We as United fans have been spoilt I feel and the great football we're accustomed to has made us our own worst enemy.

Any player that shines in any team we're quick enough to talk about them when in reality, they aren't that good.

Take this for example, Anderson would shine I feel in say Liverpool's midfield. We are too quick to wave the sword on our own players when they underperform. I personally, think selling Rooney would be a very silly mistake and would haunt us selling to a direct rival but that's just me it seems.

ALDUtd

3.) I would take Lukaku straight swap, imo he is already a beast of a player and will only get better.

4.) ALT UTD

So that values rooney at round 65 to 70 million. Are you punch drunk or hallucinating. He will be very underwhelming this season and his legs gone and not worth more that 30 to 35 million.

If we didn't sign anyone. would it be the end of the world? Two years ago City bought rings round everyone else and only beat us on goal difference, last year chelsea bought Hazzard from under our noses, we won the league at a canter. this year the talent we are bringing through looks superb. Yes everyone knows we are a bit short in midfield but we have to get behind David Moyes

simzdav

1.) Yes but we bought Van Persie last year which was a title changer.

I am amazed that a lot of people Fellaini bashing, cast your mind back to the antics of Sergio Ramos at old Trafford every time Madrid got a corner, pushing our players around like rag dolls then claiming we were fouling him, which I found disgracefull. my point is at times we are a physically weak and easily pushed around. this never happened in the days of Roy Keane or Ince. Fellaini would install a bit of fire in the belly in midfield and yes he might get sent off now and then, but we were happy enough to put up with keane taking an early bath every now and again. don't be fooled into thinking he can't also play football because he can. the boy Kondogbia also looks

simzdav

1.) I agree simz. We are in need of a character or 2 in my opinion too. Moyes sees Fellaini as a no. 6, he's not my first choice as Martinez would have originally been that. He could be good for us though for the reasons you say and be pushed up late on and for corners when need be for reasons we've witnessed against us. Carrick can be rotated or moved further forward when need be. You could even have fellaini for some games supporting someone like Chicharito when we are rotating. He could be a good signing but we would need another cm in my opinion besides him.

Supasub

2.) Ramos is just a disgrace.
DHK

3.) "don't be fooled into thinking he can't also play football because he can"

made me chuckle. has Fellini really spent several seasons fooling us into thinking he's not very good, when actually he's a brilliant footballer?

that's dedication

4.) No, Feilaini is just a jack in the box midfielder/forward, yes I take your point on the aggression and winning headers, a target man!but I can tell you this much, that's all he has!he cannot play football, he cannot set pace of a game, cannot spread the ball around, he's extremely slow?Paul Scholes is a better tackler!he uses his elbows ina game more than his feet!he is not what we need!roy Keane and ince could win the ball and play intelligent football without being 6ft tall!Sure why don't we buy Andy Carroll and stick him in midfield eh?we don't need him!
Arturo Vidal now there's a player we should invest in.

What if, just what if, we kept Evra where he is and used Baines as a winger?? Just a though. We don't have a flying left winger?

I just don't understand some people, they just live in an immature glitzy dream world. Since roy keane left we have been crying out for someone to be a big presence in midfield. fellaini might not be the glamorous real madrid style signing that some people dream about but last year he scored 15 from midfield? When did cleverly and co ever do that. Sometimes you need to be practical he isn't a fancy dan but he is very very effective and would be playing with better players at old Trafford . get him quick if you ask me

Give the man a chance. you want him to pay millions and millions just to keep you happy? Regardless of who it is? Just a marquee signing? Anyone will do, let's be realistic big teams simply don't allow their big midfield stars to leave. So they are nigh on impossible to get. Just because city and chelsea pay over inflated prices for players who might just not suit the premier league, we are more selective

Ive also read the article from Bild in germany and it claims a large bid of 50m coming in from United this weekend for one of madrids big players who is concerned about the imminent arrival og G Bale, hampering his chances in the world cup. nowhere did it say the name Ozil, can't see it being ronaldo who's worried about his place next year. If it was either i'd be over the moon
