According to Andy Mitten (via Twitter), Phil Jones is set to leave. Anyone know where he's going?

i beleive it, i think he himself now finally sees no future at UTD, best for everyone. Good luck to him at his next club. Frees up a spot and a salary.

Phil Jones career is a strange one. From having so much promise as a youngster at Blackburn and Fergie thinking he was future England Captain material. Blighted by injuries and clearly not at such a lofty level. Still has more trophies on his CV than most: Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup, Europa League. He's 30 so time to find his final contract where he can play most weeks. Plenty of Premier League teams he could do a job for I'm sure. Imagine he will need to reduce his wage demands from his current £75k pw but am sure he doesn't need to worry about signing on anytime soon!

Jones never came close to fulfilling the potential his early performances at Blackburn (ironically as a young defensive mid) suggested he would.

A Fergie fave for sure but with no pace and the turning curve of a Sherman tank he's clearly not got a future at OT. I actually thought he was pretty decent when he started that rare game a few months ago and expected to see him used a bit more.

I'm sure that he could still do a decent job in the Prem, but anyone would be nuts not to insist on a pay per play basis which I feel will be the sticking point as he's been able to earn a huge amount without contributing.

Realistically he should join a decent Championship side, or if he wants to play longer head off to France/ Spain if there are suitors there.

Was a good defender - ravaged by injuries which took its toll physically and mentally - not his fault.
