Ed002 is it true we’re interested in Touchameni and going to meet with real this week?
He’s a great player and I’d snap their hand off.

{Ed002's Note - Aurelien Tchouameni (CM/DM) Real Madrid do not wish to sell but recovering the money spent last year would go a long way towards topping up the Mbappe pot. Chelsea were blocked from completing negotiations for the player last season and he would be their priority after Caicedo if available as they seek two such players for this summer. Real Madrid has spoken to with Chelsea about him during discussions over two other players. There is no declared interest from elsewhere yet although he is seen as a potential option by Manchester United and an option to Declan Rice, but any move seems unlikely unless PSG cannot resolve their discussions with Mbappe when Real Madrid will work had to get in the right place financially. Wages will be less of an issue to them with Benzema and Hazard departing.}

This would be an amazing signing if we can somehow pull it off. Throw in a new striker and a top goal scorer and I can see us pushing City quite a bit harder next season (I still think we lack the squad depth to actually win the league, but stranger things have happened) .

Part of me wonders whether the recent rumblings about Greenwood returning are to test the waters to see if they can get away with waiting until next year to bring in a top striker, as bringing in Touchameni and a new keeper would presumably cost us £100m+, and we’re supposedly after a new CB as well.

While takeover still undecided and Glazers unwilling to spend any of their own money (as opposed to using the credit line like normal) we’ll barely be able to bring in a striker and GK.

However, if new owners announced soon….

More rumours of Glazers withholding funds until sales are made.

Paranoid c about having to spend any of their own money.

Thanks for the detailed info Ed. I can’t see PSG risking Mbappe going next season for free, so fingers crossed things start to move. Touchameni and Casemiro would be brilliant. We are surely a more attractive option than Chelsea now.

Surely no-one really expects Tchouameni to sign for us?

Nope.

I think the glazers with holding funds is a load of rubbish. Unless they don’t plan on selling at all.

Still think a season long loan with option to buy could be a good move, then spend a load on Kane. We will likely have money next season.

You’re right Sydney, just need to get through this window and hope the squabbling greedy Glazers compromise soon and agree to sell.

Hopefully next year (even Jan? ) will be different.

Look at how well-run clubs like City and Liverpool operate though: talk of Gvsrdiol and De Jong to City!

We can only dream of being at that level at the moment. Maybe, with good owners, the mess can be sorted out in a few years….

What a luxury Pep has. Can swap players one for one. Only needs to tweak each season, so can spend and concentrate on one or two high quality players. If they don't come off, no panic. Would be a nice position to be in agreed.

I think the whole rhetoric of us being broke is a bit of a ploy, we have money if it's for the right player.
The whole Tchouameni thing is a beautiful dream, a window of him, mount, onana and a striker would be beyond belief, my head says the 2nd midfielder will be sabitzer though, not many complaints there tbh.

Spenno, Touchameni doesn’t seem to get on with, or be highly thought of by Ancellotti. Last season he was down in the midfield 3 pecking order behind Modric, Kroos, Camavinga, Valverde and even Ceballos towards the end of the season. Now they’ve bought Bellingham! He played brilliantly for France last year and controlled the game well, in most games.
He surely doesn’t want to sit on their bench for another year in the hope that any of the above retire, are sold or get injured. So him being sold or loaned to buy to grab some money for Mbappe like Ed mentioned, makes sense. If it come down to us or Chelsea then surely any player with half a brain cell would pick us?
Only other realistic offer could come from PSG but they’re going to decline massively without their front 3 and everyone knows that.

Even if the Glazers wanted to put some of their own money into United they would still have to do it by way of a properly constituted loan or by having the company issue more share capital. They can't just simply put it in. It's a public company. That's not the way things work.

While we’re on this subject, who do we all want from
Caicedo or Touchameni?
I’d personal choose Touchameni by a long shot but Caicedo seems to be very popular with a lot of people I talk to….

I would take Ambrabat. Better value and more realistic given the cost. Calcedo going to Chelsea imo and all the talk about us being interested in the papers is just talk. Can't see us spending 80-90 mill on a defensive midfielder.

In general I don't think rice is worth 105 or Calcedo is worth the money they are talking. Both good players but overhyped and over priced.

I would spend money on 2 strikers if the club had the means to be considering spending this kind of money on a DM unless Greenwood is coming back.

Martial is a lost cause imo he is either injured or unfit coming back from injury to get injured again.

Given the shortage - or other reasons - of funds, might make sense to:

Keep Henderson as no. 1 (Heaton as reserve)

Sell Fred, Elanga, Maguire and McTominay

Bring in Amrabat and Ramos

Give more minutes to Mainoo, Amad, Pellistri and Garnacho.

Jyst need to get through this window. Biggest transfer will be removing Glazers - if it ever happens.

Hobsons choice, who would you rather see at Old Trafford next year, A Glazer or H Maguire?

Thats easy, Maguire.
