Not the first team city will blow away this season and certainly not the last.

Haaland and de bruyne are probably the two best players on the planet right now. I was disappointed by the first two goal, I thought they were sloppy. Especially looking at the first when we had a chance to go 2v1 at the back and lost the ball. The second Varane is off the pitch, but Haaland is a physical freak and was always going to get on that header imo. Varane also playing on when hurt and then having to go off doesn't help. But you just have to credit city. Their 3rd and 4th goals were breathtaking.

We can sit here and criticise everyone and write every player/ coach etc off but at the end of the day I think city were almost flawless at times and we weren't at it. They are a better side than us. Second half we showed a bit more fight, yes city probably slackened off but we kept going. A year ago we wouldn't have. Scraping the barrel there but no point getting too negative, we aren't anywhere near competing for a title yet and are at the start of another transition under a new coach (hate saying that, but it's true) .

Everton away on Sunday is the game where we will see a bit more on whether or not we have improved. I expect to see casemiro starting and probably martial as well.

Very well Said and funny how 2 or 3 more wins on the trot can change the mood and perspective. No doom and gloom here for me.

Everton is the most important game now. Bounce back with a strong performance and 3 points, and we are in a decent position for our level atm. Which is top 4.

If that performance and result doesn't bother you then I don't know what will?

It's the end of the world, it's not even the end of the day but it's just a slap of reality. The players bad habits and mental weakness will take time to fix but worryingly there are some players in that team that can't perform at a decent level consistently.

Mumbles I’ve more worries in my day to day life unfortunately that what 22 overpaid individuals do on a football pitch.

But city played close to 100%, we didn’t. We are as good as them. They’ve two genuine superstar players who destroyed us. Reality is they are the level we should be aspiring to get that as much as that pains me to say.

Like I said in my post, no point getting too negative. Life is hard enough at the moment for a lot of people.

That should read we aren’t as good as them.

{Ed014's Note - you really had me worried for a mo Caolan.

Well said Mumbles couldn’t agree more. Fans writing us off like we’re Norwich accepting the mediocrity these players serve up on a regular basis is a joke. City are a better team but that doesn’t mean you have to get spanked by 6. Crystal Palace made a decent game of it why can’t we?

The performance yesterday was pathetic and if they play with that level of commitment again it won’t just be City that gives them a thrashing.

We aren’t going to win the league, we’re not even in the Champions League, that’s our biggest game of the season and fans accepting complete mediocrity just like the players is an absolute joke.

Have some fight and tell it how it is! A performance lacking everything needed to win a game of football at any level.

14, if I genuinely believe that I’d expect the men in white suits to come for me that’s for sure.

DLIB. Yesterday was crap- but we aren’t at that level. Going crazy about it isn’t going to stop it, and it won’t stop it happening again. Ultimately the manager has the job of sorting it, not us. He needs to look at his tactics and work out what went wrong with the players.

I ain’t accepting mediocrity, but I’m accepting reality. We are still years from that level and that’s a fact. The harsh reality is if we turned up and everyone played to the absolute max, city would still be a couple of goals better than us, especially the way they played yesterday. I didn’t expect to concede 6, but it’s what happened. Time to bounce back and see what ten hag does now.

{Ed014's Note - I know mate I guessed it had to be a typo. ?

I’m absolutely fuming with that performance. I just can’t rationalise it mate. In my opinion they just threw the towel in again. Ok they were sloppy in possession but at least show some fight and determination to win it back. When you’re under the cosh you all dig in and fight together. Sancho and Anthony just left the full backs completely exposed. Bruno was too high leaving the midfield exposed, Rashford absolutely no desire to close anyone down.

Where were the leaders, getting people back behind the ball, supporting each other, backing each other up, organising stuff whilst you’re under the cosh. Sometimes you just have to suffer and hang in there but these players just capitulate.

Maybe I need to take a few days to calm down but yesterday was equally as bad as all the hammerings we got last season as well.

I’m so disappointed because despite a new manager and some decent new players the mentality of that team just hasn’t changed.

Very poor level from the whole team. And EtH didn't do too much to change it while it was unfolding in front of him.

Not writing anyone off, the squad and management team need to realise that that level of performance is simply not acceptable.

Not only was the performance error filled, it also lacked anywhere near enough effort. Running at 60% is not pressing. If you are getting back into shape the it might be a good idea to be compact and coordinated.

I agree with the sentiment that our season won't be defined by that one drubbing from city, but only if we learn from it and get back to a high level of performance.

Caolan, the response "I have more worries than caring what 22 overpaid men do" is quite perplexing? If you don't care, why watch it, why take your time to post?

Sport invokes emotion, that's why we watch it.

DLIB, agree with all that nate. We've beaten City before with lesser teams, other teams will do much better than we did. It was a bad day all round but Ten Hag is smart enough to learn from this. There's ways to lose football games and that's not it.

Mumbles,

What’s perplexing about that comment? I love the club, I’ll watch when I can. I support as best as I can. The emotion behind sport is exactly why we love it, but like I say when you’ve other worries it’s a hell of a lot more important to focus on things you can affect imo. like many of us I’m more worried about paying my mortgage every month and making sure my little ones have food and warmth.

You even say in your post this will take time. You’re spot on, this could take years to get right and I’d say before we are anywhere near challenging there will be more hidings from city. They are a great team and at this moment we aren’t, but I’m sure at some point we will be again.

I’d love us to be at the top of the league and smashing everyone but it ain’t the case, it’s not my job to fix it. So forgive me if you don’t agree with my post, but I still enjoy interaction with the folks on here. I post when I have time, usually get some decent craic from the Ed’s too and that’s what I enjoy and why I post.

However I’m done being overly worried or bothered about what they do on a pitch anymore. I’ll still get annoyed, upset or whatever adjective you want when they play rubbish, or excited when they win.

To be fair, Mumbles, he didn't say he didn't care. It's all relative, though. I doubt anyone on here would say a drubbing at football is the worst thing that's going to happen to them this year. We were pants, tho.

Mumbles, I think it's very easy to get sucked into your own world and your own problems.

Maybe to you Manchester United losing badly in the derby is the absolute worst thing you feel will happen to you this year. If it is then my friend you will have a blessed year.

Many United fans, who are United to the core have a wide array of different issues they will face this year, bankruptcy, divorce, ill-health, sickness or death of loved ones.

I'm pretty sure to the guy whose about to lose his house, is struggling with mental health issues, whose child has cancer, and whose wife has just died the idea of being "devastated" by a bad loss to City probably seems like a luxury they don't have.

Doesn't make them any more or any less of a United fan. Just some poor sod whose life is far more complicated than the simple result of a football match.

Where did I say anything about "worse feeling this year" nonsense. We were posting a couple of hours after the game, my point was there were far too many posts just happy to plod along. We were absolutely battered by one of our biggest rivals.

Change the name of this group to Strawmen FC. You don't have take a point and run with it.

Mumbles you didn't say it but everyone else is trying to give you some perspective that seems to go over your head, I'm with the rest it's just a blip which will happen for quite some time yet, we improved recently so focus on that and see where ETH can get us, both the players and Hag are learning at the moment it's as simple as that. Yes they battered us but it was only 3 points lost nothing more nothing else, we go again.
