Our lack of depth will be our downfall.

Eriksen only seems to play well when Casemiro is playing and when he isn't playing the drop of to mctominnay is astonishing. he's literally a bottom half team player.

Not even going to get started on Antony, hopefully Sancho is back Wednesday. Weghorst looks half decent at times but Burnley fans weren't wrong about his heading inability, but he's certainly not what we need. I think not signing people of quality this window could be our downfall seeing the situation we were in could've helped us push forward.

Got a decent run of games coming up which will probably give us a bit of confidence as on paper should win them all.

Hopefully we can get at least 2 trophies this season which I think with position were in is achievable.

I actually thought Anthony done a lot better yesterday.

How much is Saka worth if we paid £86m for Antony is all I can say as Saka is well clear and Antony will never reach his level.

Can see Antony being another Mctominnay or Lingard type of player . Next we know it he's 26/ 27 and still hasn't got better.

I just don't see anything in his game than try pointless trick cut in and shoot or pass back it's literally depressing watching Antony play. He got out sprinted by Party. so we know he's got no pace, he's scared to take on people so he slows down passes it back most of time.

Garnacho is better than Antony and I'd start Garnacho over him every time.

I really want to like him and hope he gets better, but he's just one of them players I can't seem to get into like Mctominnay or Lingard when you get fans saying they'll come good but they never do.

If he does come good I'll hold my hands up and apologize but I just can't see it.

Anthony still has major question marks hanging over his head but he did OK yesterday. We offered nothing in terms of attacking intent so it was difficult for Anthony. He still needs to impact the game more though.

I thought we didn't deserve anything from the game. The game was lost in midfield

McTominay is not nearly at the level required. The ball is like a live grenade at his feet and he can't wait to get rid of it. Eriksen was also poor but not for the lack of trying, we were too open and he had no support.

I thought we showed Arsenal too much respect. Saka ripped Shaw to shreds but how many times was he actually tackled? Backing off constantly a player of his calibre will punishment you.

Rashford had some good moments but again we were quite toothless up front. Weghorst off the ball put a shift in but I don't think he worried the Arsenal defence at all.

The manager starting McTominay was a mistake. He also could have been proactive with his changes.

We all looked up the table for a brief moment after the City game but in hindsight we're still on target for top 4 and possibly a cup.

The manager seems to learn from his mistakes so 3 or 4 steps forward 1 step back isn't bad looking at the overall picture.

Anthony Taylor is a poor excuse for an official.

Antony gives me massive Nani vibes. Sometimes produces something amazing but 90% of the time inconsistent and doing nothing.

Lets hope its just a settling in period and he improves as time goes on and he adapts to the league.

{Ed014's Note - his game is so one dimensional he has to be the easiest winger to play against. It’s incredible that a player costing that much literally has no idea how to play football.

I said yesterday he makes Pepe look like Messi. Is there another winger in the Prem who offers less than he does?

I think he got out managed yesterday EtHs tactics and style especially second half we were outclassed, only making 2 subs and one in the 90th shows he was playing for the draw of which is nonsense.

He should've brought Garnacho for Antony and Fred for Eriksen who again had a poor game without Casemiro.

I disagree. ETH got the tactics right yesterday. But for a last minute goal we would have come away with a draw away at the top of the table club which only one loss all year and is on a pace for 100 points. If he made an error it was playing Casemiro in mid week or not taking him off earlier. We may have been under enormous pressure but we did attack and besides scoring 2 we brought a couple of good saves out of Ramsdale.

Fact is Arsenal are a better all round team than we are as of now. Arteta has had 3+ years to develop his squad. They were also playing at home and were fresher, having not played a midweek fixture. I took great heart form yesterday's performance despite the fact that we clearly struggled in midfield for long stretches of the second half. I thought Weghorst worked tirelessly, pressed and defended well. We didn't create a chance for him.

As for Antony, I'm one of those who thought he was simply awful yesterday. He's out of his depth. His passing was dreadful. There was one occasion where he picked the ball up in midfield and had a great opportunity to get Rashford one on one, but he fluffed a simple ball. He made a few decent runs to nowhere in particular, but that was it. He doesn't actually seem to have much pace, which may be okay in lower divisions, but against the best defenses it's a major drawback, especially when you don't seem to have much skill or strength of character. I'll give him until next season to give him and ETH the benefit of the doubt, but right now he's looking like a seriously bad acquisition.

How can you say EtH got it right when we got battered the second half? He should've changed things earlier well the the subs. Eriksen without Casemiro looks lost and can't do defensive duties.

Should've brought Fred and Garnacho on for Antony and Eriksen for me he reminded of Southgate yesterday stubborn to make a change hoping it will get better untill it's too late.

Totally agree Shaw, Kevani thinks we should have gone for it 2nd half and probably got battered 6-2 against the best team in the league.

Jesus what a massive over reaction to a game of football! Dammed if you do dammed if you don’t!
Thought most of the set up yesterday was good, I’d imagine ETH was eluding to our defending after the game especially the full backs who never wanted to engage with the singers and invited pressure non stop!
We are 2-2 away at arsenal who tbh are very good, and although I’d like to of seen Garnacheo at whose expense! Bringing Fred on was right I thought as second half we lost the midfield battle, would casameiro of helped yes but the game midweek would also of taken a lot out of us! Weghorst I think was kept on for set pieces in both boxes, rashford for his threat and Erikson although I think was quiet he is our most trustworthy midfielder when it comes to taking the ball under pressure! So I can fully understand team selection and changes and we were minutes away from a great point!
ETH was rightly annoyed after the game with goals we conceded, a reality check to us all that awb although playing well against mediocre teams will get found out, one or two others too!
On the whole I thought we did ok and was extremely annoyed to come away with nothing albeit a fair result. My disappointment at losing I see is a positive, not like previous years we didn’t roll over and get tickled for majority we did ok .
He still wants his type of players in and in time he will but for now I’m enjoying knowing my club has got a proper top top manager running the show and give him the tools and we’ll be on a upward trajectory like we are now.
On Antony I’ll wait and see, think he’ll be fine but patience is needed . Just needs to watch Mahrez to know that a one footed winger that isn’t electric can still be one of the leagues best attackers!

Chris,

It’s the same old after a defeat, it’s been pretty quiet on here for a while during the good run, some days after the matches I come on and wonder where all the posts are, but as soon as we lose or drop points the same people are on saying they could have done better than the manager.

There is a post on here comparing what ETH did yesterday to Southgate and being negative in the tactics. Fortunately it’s only the odd few now rather than the full on overreaction, so things must be looking up.

GDS2 I'd rather go for it than sit back get battered and lose anyway ?

Also I didn't say go for it insisted changing players that weren't performing.

Eriksen can't defend and was at fault for Saka goal.

Chris

He could've brought on Garnacho for Antony and Fred for Eriksen. Saying keep Weghorst on for set prices the lad is just as bad as mctominnay at heading the ball never known two big players to be so bad in the air.

We lost because we just sat back invited pressure, needed to change things earlier.

I actually thought Weghorst lost slot of headers when ball played up to him in open play but as regards defending the boxes him mctom and varane won nearly everything so in that sense he served a purpose, rightly or wrongly he was kept on and I can see why!

Garnacheo is left sided Antony is right so to me that change make’s little sense . I agree you could have brought Erikson for Fred but the way I saw the game was the midfield we’re getting over run so an additional midfielder made sense to me, only my opinion of course!

Garnacheo is a talented lad no doubt but very much potential at the moment he’s no world beater! Expectations need to be controlled!

Chris, it's the same babies throwing their toys out the pram.

Some United fans it seems get more joy over complaining over a loss than celebrating a win, as seen by their reactions when we lose and the fact they never post after a win.

For those fans they have had to wait months for this opportunity to complain and stick the boot into the players, the manager and the club.

You also see a surprising number of hindsight managers, who have all the answers in hindsight but lack the ability to see them in foresight otherwise they themselves would be successful football managers.
