What a ridiculous thing to say Ports, the club have been trying to get her to sign a new contract for a long time but she simply would not, despite offering very good terms.
I posted on here some weeks back that I had been told she would leave at the expiry of her contract and would almost certainly sign for Arsenal.
Her mind has been made up for a considerable time that she wants Arsenal, you can not criticise the club for this.

Yes Grim, it is a bit strange. I did in fact ask the person who gave me the info if there were any other issues behind her decision but they would not expand any further.
The official line is she want's to go where she can consistently win trophies! The fact we finished above Arsenal in the league, got to the F. A. Cup Final and have qualified for the Champions League and seemingly have broken into the existing triumvirate of serial winners, all in the short space of only 5 years, would seem to indicate the club is doing a lot right. Despite Tim being of the opinion 'they are consistently useless with all team decisions'.
I sometimes despair.
Let's not forget we turned down a world record transfer bid in January, from Arsenal, of just under half a million in the hope of getting her to agree to a new deal over the next few month's. I certainly think this show's the clubs commitment to keeping her.

Russo wants a change for various reasons all understandable .
United turned down a record amount for her as we had ambitions of winning the league and out that first.
