Hey,

quick question to the match going Fans here.
I'm thinking of flying over for my sons 7th birthday and visit a game with him (first time in the stadium for him anywhere) .
It would be an away game and the only tickets I could get would be in the home section.

Is there any issue with us being in the home section in London in a red kit?

Thank you so much in advance for your input.

Take care.

I would suggest not wearing club colours or celebrating, your kid might be ok (depending on who are are playing against) but if you celebrate a United goal in the home end you may be removed from the stadium or cause a bit of trouble. Obviously the kid being with you might help but it never goes down too well when an away goal in celebrated by somebody at OT.

Jonny. I don’t think it’d be the most comfortable experience to be completely honest, could end up as a negative experience for the young ‘un. I’d hold out for Old Trafford.

Thanks guys, would obviously love OT, but just doesn’t fit the travel plans unfortunately.

Will ponder whether it makes sense to stay on the lowdown or not go at all.

You won't be allowed in the home fans end if wearing an away kit.

If you are suspected of being an away fan you will be removed.

It doesn't matter if you are behaving your aon behaving and the crowd around you are being good natured. Plus there is always someone who will tell the stewards amd they will remove you.

Would not recommend it. Too many fans are hyper at matches and the concept of mutual respect disappears really quickly especially if their team is losing and then violence often results. Football fans still ha e a lot to learn from Rugby Union.

Salford,

Having that name and saying rugby union is disappointing, rugby league is the same.

G2S.

I went to Warrington v St Helen’s a couple of years ago as my family are big league fans (not for me) and I saw a huge brawl outside the ground and some fights inside as well.

100% appreciate this could be a unique incident and an extremely rare occurrence. But the difference between the two codes is the lack of segregation inside the stadium.

Both on and off field behaviour for both codes put football to shame. Seems even the common man can behave when its instilled in them to do so.

I recall sitting at a United game in very good seats on the half way line when West Ham equalized in the dying seconds of the game. A couple of supporters who had got tickets jumped up in excitement. They were met with the most vile language and threats of violence. It's sad, but there it is.

PS The goal was disallowed so United clung on to the victory.

On the other hand I went to the Emirates with an Arsenal fan one time and my treacherous wife he had switched allegiance. I jumped up when we scored. I suffered no adverse reactions, but sat still in my seat when we scored the winner.

Probably ok at Fulham.

Jonny, I wouldn’t recommend doing it on your own, let alone with a 7 year old. So many match going fans get sucked into mob mentality when they’re together, it bring the inner idiot out of people. Even at OT I’ve seen fans fighting amongst each other. Just don’t bother, and as others have said, you’ll get removed wearing colours.

Caolan,

Perhaps an important game between 2 big rivals isn’t the best example, and as you said, the brawl was outside, so would have happened no matter where people were sitting and there is always the odd idiot, often it can be drunken fans supporting the same team fighting inside; kids having their first beer!

At most games I attend you see fans mixed, at stadiums like Castleford and Wakefield there is no segregation so you’re always stood with opposition fans, it actually makes for quite a good atmosphere and a lot of banter.

Depends on the London club and depends which stand you are in. At some clubs it would probably be fine, at others I'd strongly suggest not to.

To be safe if you really want to go then I'd suggest not wearing club colours and not celebrating if United score.

{Ed002's Note - Typically you would not get tickets with the home team supporters.}

If it’s Fulham you’ll be ok.
Probably not advisable at West Ham.
